Clayton was not in the break all day, he and a few others went up to the break half way through the race.

There was an intial break, it got reshuffled, and then the real break went…thats why Gavi and Jermaine unfortunately missed out but are in photos early…
Clayton was one of the very last to make the bridge when is was still less than 20 seconds, Mtn Khaki completely missed out but could do nothing about it…
strangest race I have ever seen…the only explanation as a spectator was the heat, strong block head wind on the back straight slightly descending, and the reverse on the home straight…conditions perfect for the NZ track riders that normally specialize in team pursuit…no way for the field to bridge with solo artist when it was like 50 seconds and 10 laps to go…Chauner made the last strong solo move…and of course guys still crashed for the field sprint for 21st!!!
Glad Jamis and TT1 got schooled again…maybe next year???
