Wheelsucker to the sucker

ok…25 riders with a 4min lead =… 25 riders with a 4min end?
This was to easy..need to make harder. let them race harder by giving them 2min! lol

It looks like Kissena just destroyed that race. The field behind broke into pieces. Yup gap should be shorter next year.

Great photos!

they had a FOUR MINUTE gap with TWENTY FIVE riders. nice that they held the gap but i don’t know if “destroyed” is the word you use for this situation.

Wheelsucker

no, but Charlie I. pulled the main group of the field because they were about to get lapped by the Kissena group

This is a really stupid race format – I don’t think it is done anywhere else in the world and for good reason. And no, I was not there and am not jealous.

of the 25 riders…10 were doing the work…and 10 were shed in the first few laps. The field destroyed itself by not working together. Lots of sniping in main field…4 minutes over 44 miles not that much when you count how many cat IV riders Kissena had in that field. Besides 30 seconds is all they lost and that was because they went out conservatively. As far as the format…it was something different…do people want a scratch race EVERY week? mixing it up is a good thing…a points race at Prospect would be nice once in awhile…moving the finish to the top of the climb every now and then would nice too….variety being the spice of life and all…

First off, great job to Kissena for riding together well and the great display of “team” coming across the line together. True class!

Secondly, I thought the race format was enjoyable and helped to make things interesting. It’s nice to have a “different” race on the same course that so many have ridden, time and time again. The idea of a 25 person TTT vs. the 1/2/3 peloton is an interesting one, and while I would not want it to be the mainstay every week, once a year is not a bad idea for this one considering the number of PP races you guys put on over the course of the season.

Thirdly, it would have been interesting to see the race dynamic in the last few years when Kissena was caught, but this having been the first time I did the race, I can only say that while there were a few of us willing to be on the front pushing the pace and rolling a paceline, too many were either not interested (which is fine) or disruptive of the pacelines that would form (not so fine). In the end a number of us decided to push to shatter the field with the hopes that the people who stuck it out would be willing to work. And in the end, the field did shatter, but there was still no cohesion, and we raced our own race. Kissena gave us the smackdown!

Finally, thanks to the racers (WS United, Targettraining, and a few others) who really put in some work and kept the pace high for this race, thanks to the NYers who for the most part are welcoming to the NJ boys, and thanks to Cadence, Charlie, and the officials for the great work and another great season of NY racing.

This race blew…there should be some kind of number of kissena rider to time gap ratio…4 minutes with the 25 guys they had was too much, perhaps 3 mins would have been fair. Despite the time gap there werent too many in the pro123 field willing to help out **cough**sommerville**cough** ….so w/e it is what it is.
