CRCA/BANDIT RACING ANNOUNCES FORMATION OF NEW CYCLING TEAM

New York City–based cycling team CRCA/Bandit Racing is pleased to announce its roster and sponsors.

Team members:

Armand Della Monica (cat 3) is a versatile rider, as comfortable bumping elbows in a field sprint as he is climbing alpine passes. A solid 2006 season brought him numerous top-10 results in regional races as well as a win at the Tour de Christiana road race. Armand is by far the most focused on cycling style on our team and can sometimes be seen trying out new fashions in Central Park such as the “shorts with shoe covers” look or different tire and wheel color combinations. Armand can afford this because he is a partner at the law firm of Kirkland & Ellis LLP, where he specializes in buyouts and private equity transactions.

Matthew Howard (cat 2) began racing in 2003 and won several regional races in his first few years of racing. Highlights of the 2006 season include a fifth place on GC in the masters field at Fitchburg and a victory in Central Park. Known throughout the city as “Evil” Matt Howard, EMH doesn’t know what he did to earn that moniker but we think it’s funny so keep using it.

Jeff King (cat 1) is a former collegiate All-American at the University of Colorado and veteran of the Belgian kermesse circuit; he returned to cycling in 2005 after a six-year break. Weighing in at 200 pounds, Jeff calls himself a sprinter because everybody tells him that he is too “heavyset” to climb anything taller than a stack of tasty pancakes. Jeff works as an investment banker at Credit Suisse, where nobody knows he rides a bike on the weekends because he doesn’t want them to give him more work.

Justin Lubeley (cat 2) is one of the most aggressive riders in the New York region, a threat in time trials, hilly road races, and criteriums alike. His consistently strong results in New England races earned him a cat 2 upgrade in 2006. Despite winning races, Justin is still relatively unknown to the CRCA. We’re not even sure if we could recognize him in a lineup. Justin is an associate at the law firm of Cahill Gordon & Reindel LLP where he sues people and defends people who are being sued.

Ryan Tie (cat 1) was a teammate of Jeff’s at the University of Colorado and is following his old friend back into racing again after an eight-year hiatus. Formerly one of the country’s top junior and espoir riders, with wins at numerous races including the 1996 US collegiate national championships, Ryan was a member of the US national team in the late 1990s, racing throughout the US, South America, and Asia. He is currently a research analyst with Lynx Investment Advisory.

CRCA/Bandit Racing gratefully acknowledges the generous support of its sponsors:
