wet

There could be moisture in our future this weekend, or there might not be any at all, who can tell? I have no fewer than three mobile device weather prognosticators, and they all give me conflicting information, but one thing is sure, rain or not there will be people racing in the parks and alleyways of the NYC area, here is where they will be doing it.

Saturday morning, if it’s not raining, I will be racing with my older friends at the R&A Cycling New York Cycling Series at Prospect Park. If I wake and see rain, this ground hog goes back to sleep.

Saturday night is the Red Hook Crit at the Brooklyn Navy Yard.

Sunday is very busy with the Second Annual White Plains Downtown Criterium in White Plains.

There’s also the NJ Highlands Gran Fondo, part of the GFNCS National Championship Series in Newfoundland, NJ.

I have never correlated the toughness of a man or a sport to the language used, need to think about that. Makes it a bit shallow don’t you think?

wins red hook, with kyle murphy 2nd. Crashes decimated the field. Funny how when they happen in a park race everyone whines but in an unsanctioned race, it’s cool.

kyle murphy lapped the field twice at Whiteplains. Stood on the podium before the race was finished.

The blog ain’t boring. Boring was standing around watching the Red Hook Crit last night. Only 5 out of 100 finish – something’s broken. Also, middle finger to the people in multiple crash videos laughing their asses off every time some dude goes pinwheeling into the barriers. The crowd dress like hipsters, but the reactions show their true colors: pure NASCAR. I’m done watching the race in this format. My .02 – the course is better suited for road bikes – it’d be a pretty fun technical crit.
