typing

I enjoy weekends with only a few events in them, because it allows me to type less than I normally do on Monday mornings. This past weekend, with just two events report ins results, makes my typing workload lighter, and that makes me happy.

On Saturday at the NY Capitol Region Road Race, Jake Hollenbach of dealer.com/Everbank won the pro1/2/3 race. Emma White of Farm Team Elite Women’s Cycling Team won the women’s pro 1/2/3 race. Roger Aspholm of Finkraft won the masters 40+ race. Doug O’Neil of Deno’s Wonder Wheel won the masters 55+. Results are here.

At the R&A Cycles New York Cycling Race Series race in Prospect Park on Sunday, Chris Loehner of Bicycle Planet won the 40+ race. Renee Engelhardt of Radical Media won the women’s race. Omar Villafane won the cat 5 race. Results are here.

There’s no results yet from the Long Meadow TT, which is fine by this lazy guy.

What was up with the crash-fest in the Master’s race at Prospect on Sunday?….old folks losing it in the humidity

yea, I thought Masters were supposed to be wily but safe. A lot of guys were getting tired. That last big crash was definitely due to tired + bike handling failure. I didn’t see the other two but I heard them well enough.

I was the first to crash. At first i thought i had hit a pothole but there is no pothole in that spot – about 10 people told me they saw a GoPro camera bouncing on the ground right before i hit it. Just a stupid random thing. I am lucky to be in one piece – my helmet is trashed and my bike broke clean in half. I think someone else lost one of these in a race recently? so if you use one please make sure it is secured properly. Pretty sure someone else ran over me or my bike and went down too…sorry about that, nothing i could do about it.

the next crash happened about 30 seconds later I think, totally unrelated.

I made the same comment a few weeks ago after I was almost taken down at the White Plains Crit by a bouncing GpPro. The consensus on this forum was that it would be a waste of time.
