Hangover 7/8/13

Feeling hot hot hot…

Intern josh here. Dan is busy "hamm’ing" it up in Iowa and Andy always just "drones" on about nonsense, so you lot are stuck with me today. The theme of this weekend was "holy f#*k it’s hot". Let’s see who amongst us was able to attain greatness and who was frying like an egg…

On Sat morning there was a CRCA club race, with Adam Alexander of Foundation taking the A race, Robert Weitzner of Foundation taking the B race, Ryan Hurley of siggi’s taking the C race and Julia Simon won the Women’s Cat 4 race. Full results have yet to be posted from what i can tell, but you will be able to find them here sometime in the near future.

Sun there was the New Britain criterium up in CT. Euris Vidal of Foundation won the Pro/1/2/3 race, Kim Edwards of Kenda won the women’s Pro/1/2/3 race, Sam Frias of Montecci won the 3 race, Carol-lynn Mills of Houlihan Lokey won the women’s 3/4 race, Rory Derwin of Central Wheel-GHCC won the cat 4 race and Colin Keaveney won the 5 race. Full results are here.

Upstate on Sun, there was Trimbles Neversink race and I can report that Mike Boardman of BH/Comedy Central won, with Sean Smith taking second and Jayson Jacobs of Waffles & Dinges in third.

And now…

Yep, I heard, she told me, said you had a roided limp dick and got popped off the back quicker than a cat4evaaaaaaaa

It’s not a very mysterious process. Intimate knowledge is not required.

Smoking a doobie comes with a 3 month ban.

You’re comment about snitching is ridiculous. If you’re a clean rider and you’re good enough to be suspected of doping then you should be walking around clamoring to get tested. Foundation should be calling the USADA tip line on them selves.

Dot Calm

Kobe Dry Lube, are you trying to intimidate people so they do not take action should they know something?
Enzo, though taking a bottle on a 90 degree day seems all well and good, a clean hand-off at 25mph is not guaranteed. A full bottle dropped can easily cause a crash which why feeds are not allowed in crits. It also offers on unfair advantage as most riders are following the rules.
On the bright side, at least nobody in the entourage puched the promoter in the face again this year.

I don’t know Neil Bezdek. I didn’t know he was a former pro. I’m sorry you dragged his name into this. But anyone who races for Foundation will eventually be accused of cheating, either directly or indirectly. It comes with the jersey. He should race for a cleaner team if he doesn’t want people like you associating him with dopers.
Anyway, Neil isn’t the only former pro on foundation. Anytime I suggest the name here, my post gets deleted.
So shut up.

hater69

I think the notion of “clean” and “dirty” teams can’t apply to amateur or even domestic continental squads. The budgets are just too small for anything even remotely resembling a doping program. The reality is that no single person on a team like Foundation has any freaking clue what any other member is or isn’t doing. So as mostly intelligent people we can realize that just riding for a team like that shouldn’t automate suspicion. Labeling individual riders as suspicious I think is fair based on their past, results, etc… Neil doesn’t deserve that at all. But he is currently the only ex pro(like he actually rode for a continental team) on Foundation.

Luchino Seatmast

Feeding was not needed at New Britain. I did that race for the entire 40 miles and didn’t go through two bottles. I also suffer a lot in the heat. If I can do it, anyone else could too.

hater69

You’re thinking of the year Mountain Khakis was amateur due to budget shortfalls. Neil rode for them for three years. Two of those the team was professional with a continental license.

Jasper Liner

hey maxime helmet – his is a website for – wait for it – the NYC amateur BIKE RACING scene. If you think that’s so comical, why don’t you stick to nyfredfondo.com and comment on the reviews of helmet mirrors or something.

Cosimo Ziptie

there is some truth in the post. watching a dog chase it’s tail is only funny for so long

@hater 69 — why should we call USADA? I don’t think anyone here said that others on Foundation were doping (I do have my suspicions about a former pro rider on the team but I have no proof so why waste everyone’s time.) This all started because Hot Tube commented that Foundation riders were getting illegal feeds at New Britain despite a warning. Unless there were illegal drugs in the illegal feeds, USADA doesn’t care. It’s just funny that there’s one team that thinks the rules don’t apply to them.

Gianni Kevlar

Pro/1/2 field is a bit anemic. Must be they only like races with 6,500 ft of climbing if the entry fee is at least $100 ($42 is a deal). Or only if the forecast is something better than 81 and sunny.

hater69

I was responding to earlier comments about Foundations next bust. But let’s look at the situation with the CT crit. Why did no one say anything to the officials after the race? I can totally understand why riders would want feeds on a 100 degree day. But why didn’t anyone report this to the officials and just get them disqualified? If you say nothing you’re just allowing them to get away with it.

The reality is that both situations are the same. People feel something is wrong and do nothing about it except complain anonymously on the internet. Which is so silly when there are very easy avenues of action. If you suspect a former pro on Foundation (let’s be real here… you might as well just say Neil Bezdek. And seriously out of all the guys on Foundation you’re suspicious of Neil? You’re hilarious.) you should just use the USADA hotline. That’s exactly what it’s there for. Go to http://www.usada.org/playclean and just send them an anonymous tip. It would sure as hell be way more productive then writing about your suspicious here and insulting riders and teams.

Kobe Dry Lube

a tip is not chased after without also offering some sort of evidence. and it ain’t exactly anonymous.

Gilles Cockset

You so fucking entitled. I wanna step all over your strappy Teva-toes. What a fuckin bitch ass.

He served his time.

And yes, cheating on the 7th grade test affects others the same way you are whining about BIKE RACES. It’s a hobby, please top taking this shit so seriously. I though this is for fun..?

Footon Sherbeto

Gilles, in case you haven’t figured it out yet I’m getting a kick out of seeing your responses, which is why I keep coming back with something. Calm down friend, if I really gave a sh%t about Lisban I would quit racing or not bother commenting anonymously. 🙂 Still I am surprised he went to United though.

hater69

Sorry but Quinteiro was not racing for fun. He served his time and he can now go enjoy his life else where.

Vespaciano Tarmac

lisban, you’re english is so much better. is that what you worked on the last 2 years?

Brett Miguels

Please stay away from races around the northeast. You may be a nice guy, I don’t really know you. But with your history and that bs interview I read from Base Camp Intl in 2010 you aren’t welcome at local races in and especially outside of NYC. Please stay away.

Thanks,

-nearly everyone

Giles, are you mad at Road-results too for posting the needle next to Lisban’s name? No one likes you (Foundation) because they are serial cheaters. Sure, you have the best local riders. That’s because you have a 100k+ annual budget. You’d win almost as many races even without cheating.

What was in those bottles at the illegal feed?

Julien Grips

Silke W won the women’s race, with CRCA/BH Comedy’s Becky Koh and Sarah Sauvayre in 4th and 5th overall.

Point O'Information

Lisban is no longer on Foundation.
Also, has anyone seen my Specialized McLaren Venge with Lightweight wheels? I tied it up outside an ATM in Bed-Stuy with two pipe cleaners and a rubber band. Some guy named Inigo Montoya is trying to sell it on EBay.
Dave Anthony to WS United.

Not a lawyer

I forgot. Lisban is now on WSU where everyone eats right!

Team We Stand United believe in fairness, and in training hard to succeed. They also encourage the development of leadership skill, sense of community responsibility and a healthy lifestyle. Team We Stand United encourage all their members to eat right and compete without using drugs, hormones or synthetic chemicals to enhance performance.

Julien Topcap

foundation is a huge team almost a club with an “elite” group and a bunch of 3s and 4s. but there do seem to be a few mercenaries involved.

Whatever

You sound like a little CAT4LIFE who is a little side line (B-tch)like I said and always want to talk shit . So you rode your little Pee Wee Herman bike in the Cat 4 race and place 55th you go BOY! Maybe if you was not a Clown you could have been in the race with Foundation/W.s United. Later Pee wees Play house.

Francesco Crank

Could you try saying something intelligent and constructive. You shouldn’t try to berate people while writing like a 3rd grader. It just doesn’t work.

Francesco Crank

Hater 69, you have good points and reasoning. I did protest the bottle feeds after the race in CT, but I asked the official not to DQ the whole team or Euris Vidal. I can’t say it was the bottle feed that allowed Vidal to make the field split and later win the sprint. I can’t be sure if he took a bottle, as well as his other teamates stuck in the field that everyone saw were taking bottles. I basically asked the offials not to DQ them this time because I thought it was a relatively minor thing, but to please say something and keep an eye out for the next time.

If Vidal had taken feeds and won the race it would have been up to someone in the break with him to report that. I could only tell the official what I saw.

Kobe Dry Lube

hater69 do you have intimate knowledge of the usada tip process or are you just repeating what you heard somewhere else?

take a breather, stay away from the internets, smoke a little doobie or something.

oh and if you do drop a dime on someone or a group of folks, get ready to not be so brazenly anonymous anymore. because now you’re dealing with real life.

Enzo Internal Routing

Who really cares if Foundation or W.s united was taking bottles in a 100 degree race. It was a hot day and the promoter was a jerk not to let riders get bottles with that type of heat yesterday,so hats off to both teams using good judgement. Its always the guys on the side line with the mosts to say (B-tches).

Maxime Helmet

I find that most if not all racers who try out this silly sport eventually look back and chuckle with embarassment at how rediculous bike racers behave at all levels. At that point you are either a pro racer riding for money full time or are done with racing and simply going out on your bike for a fun weekend ride. Everything in between is pure comedy…

Goro Tracknut

Off topic here for a minute:

Yesterday I learned there was a fundraiser fixie race in CP this past week where all proceeds go to Josh’s recovery. I was disappointed that I didn’t know about and therefore didn’t go. I am planning on making a donation to his recovery fund, but I was wonderinf if anyone has any transparent info on this yet? I am curious how much money is needed, did he have insurance or did the race have insurance and what lingering costs might there be? I saw the fund is hoping to raise $200,000. Does anyone have a clue as to what amount the child and his family needs to get through this time? Or at least an update on his condition?

hater69

it’s just as anonymous as this. Typing stuff in to a box on a website. if enough people are suspicious of the same group of riders the tip will get chased. In 2012 the entire Coco’s team was tested at the opening round of the USA crits series on a tip.

Francesco Crank

On a side note I think Neil is a great guy and honest rider. In fact I feel bad he gets looped into this stuff now because of who he rides for. Often the actions of a few riders reflect the whole team. That’s just the way it is and people need to understand that when they take questionable actions. Good teams often remind their riders that they always represent the team and not just themselves.

Foundation has had so many eye brow raising things that it now taints the whole team. The good and honest riders suffer because of the actions of a handful of a-holes.

I can name a bunch of really upstanding Foundation riders, guys I respect a lot and call friends. But I can also name a bunch of riders I wish weren’t involved in the local scene. If riders on their team are breaking the rules taking feeds I’m going to call them out on it. No surprise the riders I saw on Sunday taking feeds were none of the ones I admire most.

Ilias Rim

not bad, just a couple things….

lose the fanboy stuff, it’s silly “the Brian Breach?”

c’mon.

lose the hat, it made you hotter.

why did you try to touch Gavi?

oh, and the rest of you…STFU about Lisban!

Julien Topcap

don’t have a dog in this fight but seems to me that if you manage to get popped for doping as a local not-even-pro you are always going to have an asterisk (a hypodermic needle?) next to your name and people are going to say mean things about you once in a while. deal with it.

Tristan Headset

this eli guy is hilarious, as is the needle next to lisban’s name. keep it coming, bike racing!

whoever

On a more serious note: Taylor is a remarkably consistent rider in the scene. Perhaps it is time for an interview here?

concerned citizen rob

George Suter got 4th overall one of just three Americans to crack the top ten at The Coupe. Really tough race and field. Just you look at the results.

Gilles Cogset

All you do is whine and moan and point fingers. Even if he was busted you still would suck.

All of you are so angry inside and totally full of shit. Know that your anger is fueled by self hate.

Look in the mirror and scream I hate you!!

Then shut up…

Gilles Cogset

Maybe I should shit on you for that 7th grade math test you cheated on. How about that “tax write-off.” I’ll tell your wife all about your wandering eye……….

Bunch of fucking bitches……

Don’t you have anything better to do or say?

Logan Rear Entry

The NYC SS is the “Cat 5 -> Cat 1 in 4 months” guy. Just a beast. Where did he go?

joshs

i got my info from here: http://www.road-results.com/racer/15621
which seems to have lumped a bunch of sean smiths together, as it has SS competing in pro/1/2 races and cat 5 races in 2012 and cat 4 races in 2011. it had his age right, but his usacycling page was not updated. possible team name removed.

Jasper Liner

there is a hypodermic needle next to lisban quinteiros name on the results for New Britain…not kidding.

Hot Tube

Foundation won New Britain while also being given cold bottle feeds on the backside of the crit course. After their feeder was told at the start line not to be handing out bottles.

No one else had feeds in the heat and 30 guys pulled out.

hater69

I think David Anthony proved that you can’t just throw an entire team under the bus because of one asshole. If particular guys on Foundation concern you then please just call the USADA hotline. 1-877-752-9253 seriously this is exactly what it’s there for. Don’t just shit on every single guy on that team.

Footon Sherbeto

When someone cheats on a math test it doesn’t have a direct affect on the other classmates. In this case, I just hate racing with a guy that I am suspicious of because he’s been caught before and likely wont be tested again anytime soon. I want to enjoy my races as fair races and that’s how I want to think about them. Just the idea of having to race against him is something I wish i didn’t have to put up with. I’m not saying that he’s doing anything wrong now and I believe that he’s not, but the thought still occurs to me and that sucks. A lot of cheaters repeat their acts despite being caught (Hamilton, Clinger, etc and other aspiring pros)

Lilian Kevlar

oh my god this place is a cesspool

every three months when I visit this forum it makes me want to quit racing because I don’t want to be associated with these people

Yanis Dropout

That Road-results website should be ashamed of putting a needle next to Lisban’s name. I personally cant stomach cheaters and that dude took results from clear riders. But no way a results site should be doing that. thats a lawsuit waiting to happen. and disgusting.

Sam Stiff

RR isn’t picking on Lisban. It is the icon they use for all riders coming from a doping suspension. Hard to say what the law suit would be about.

Michele Swage

Apparently a Look 595 was stolen in NYC…

The double-post spamming is kind of annoying, locks are cheaper than reward money.

The hangover championship is crazy cycling event, which takes place every year at New York. The specialty of this festival is that, the participant’s needs to fight each other and win the championship. Thanks for sharing more details about it.
