Wobble Naught Brooklyn Bike Fit

Craig Upton and the Wobble-Naught Bike Fit Comes to Slope Sports on January 14

You’ve all heard of the bike fit “Guru” that lives in a far away place (like Manhattan or Westchester) that uses divining rods, the Suns angle and the “force” to provide a custom bike fit. Or the local bike shop where the guys are certified in acronyms like “P.O.W.E.R” or “F.A.S.T”…whatever that might mean. Here’s something new.

If the Wobble-Naught bike fit sounds geeky and weird, it is. The expert bike fitting system, performed by Craig Upton & Michael Sherry, uses a series of bio-mechanical measurements which are so accurate to the individual, that some are taken with a laser. These measurements are then applied to the company’s proprietary software to begin the process of custom fitting.

Taken to the highest level of the fitting, Wobble-Naught uses sEMG technology (which is similar to “reverse” electro-stimulation) to record the energy output of your muscles used while cycling. This allows the fitter to pinpoint muscles that are over- or under-utilized and fine tune their efficiency. The goal is to take pressure off the overworked muscles (e.g., the calves) and shift it to larger, stronger (perhaps lesser used) groups creating a more efficient pedal stroke. This leads to more power at a given heart rate.

The bottom line is that the fit is truly custom, and you will never feel better.

If you’re interested in more detail, join Craig Upton and Michael Sherry for an informational seminar on Saturday, January 14th 6pm at Slope Sports in Brooklyn. We are bringing the “Guru to you” (for folks in Brooklyn). Everyone’s welcome and space is limited (Triathletes, come find out from Craig why a 76 degree seat position is ideal!!!).

Craig Upton is a professional with Navigators cycling team and current TT record holder for 2 laps in Central Park (25:45) and has raced in Europe for 5 years. He is also the founder and principal of Upton Performance Systems, a New York City-based cycling and multisport coaching firm. Upton specializes in rider form/technique along with developing power-based training tools for road racers, mountain bikers and triathletes. He coaches a wide variety of athletes from Olympic hopefuls, IronMan champions, National Champions, World Cup Competitors and leading age-group athletes. this article now officially disproves the the theory that nice guys finish last … obviously not ! they just don’t get ribbed on nyvelocity – way to go smilie and mike – another record !

Erik

Could we have a little disclosure here? Methinks that Sherry is on Mr.NYVelocity’s team and that Upton is a “sponsor” of said team as well? this ain’t news, this is back-scratching.

Yes, we are an evil cabal. You are one brilliant conspiracy theorist. However, all that copy above was written by Haig Marino, owner of Slope Sports. And this is basically a free ad. In case you haven’t noticed, we’re pretty open to people who want to make an announcement. So bite us.

Haig Marino

Actually,

It’s less about a free ad and more about providing Brooklyn with a great service. Sometimes Brooklyn is considered the “Red Headed Stepchild” of Manhattan and good services (at this level) don’t reach over the bridge. I also race for Deno’s Wonderwheel (The giant Ferris wheel in Coney Island, not a hokey-sounding bike shop) which had a great battle this summer with ML at Floyd. We should hate each other!!! Anyway, I hope people will take advantage of this.

I do love a good C-O-N-spiracy though….
