SMASHED!

Section head text.

Despite having one of the weakest non-Spanish Classics teams, the Mighty Thor has SMASHED at Gent Wevelgem. Thor allowed Milram to chase down late attacks and as they rolled to the finish, the teammate-less Thor burst out of the front group to SMASH against Petacchi and Pozzato and the rest. Cudos Thor!

Thor was interviewed after the race and added, “I enjoying the SMASHING!”@##=#<1,L>@##=#

It’s "Kudos," not "Cudos." Trying to get all Euro(trash) on us, Schmalz? Of equal or greater importance, it’s "Ghent," not "Gent": nice try, gent(s). 🙂

For some reason, I’m not a big Thor fan. Ain’t hatin’ on the geezer, but just prefer a Zabel/Petacchi/Bettini/Boonen (as if he’s in a class with anyone else!) victory. Maybe it’s Thor’s team color scheme I’m not keen on; or that CA’s a French team. Hmmm.

Elder again

You also omitted the en dash between the incorrectly spelled "Gent" and "Wevelgem." The en dash is the Ctrl+[minus sign on the numberpad on PC keyboards]. There: you’ve learnt something today. Aside from the fact that it still snows in NYC in April. Ridiculous!

Upgrade

If he can win with no team, then he should be upgraded. Boonen too, come on, TofF in consecutive yrs – at a different level.

BTW – Does TofF qualify for USCF upgrade?

Daniel

Yep. Boonen should be racing with the B’s by now,

but Thor is a different story. WADA is currently reviewing his mother’s recipes for NGH (Norweigan Growth..you know the rest), and he may be banned from eating herring.

Kim

Actually his favourite dish is meatballs. His mother follows him in her RV to serve him meatballs during Tour de France. But nice win…

Heia Thor!

Another great Norwegian, Kurt Asle Arvesen, was 10th.

Alright, my bad.

Elder here. You were spot-on with "Gent" vs. "Ghent"; with the "h" must be some form of (incorrect?) anglicized spelling. My bad. I was wrong and you were right: there, I’ve said it. :/

Zabel and the Milkmen were too busy watching Boonan. Thor played a masterful card. I noticed he did have a teammate do some wind blocking, so he didnt completely do it alone. That rider kept him reasonably fresh. I love the CA kits this year.

I still like...

Celeste green better – matches better with Norse God features and coloring..I hope he doesn’t get too used to those Flags as Norweigen champ, we’ve got a speedy guy here in NY that might have designs on those!!

DS Wrote; Lee, Boonen wasn’t in the front group at the end. He didn’t make the selection.

Yea, i know, that’s what I’m saying. Milram and co. were too busy watching Boonan, who could care less about being in that front echelon. They were complacent and then realized too late that Boonan was on a easy day. Or Maybe they’re also savin up for Paris R.?

Thor Spit watcher

At least he had the decency to not have spit coming out of his mouth for the finish photo this time. Although he is sort of horse-toothed.

schmalz

Milram boned it when they made the selection, had 4 or 5 guys in the front group and let Roesems and then Pozzato get away instead of controlling it for Petacchi’s sprint. Did you notice how pissed Zabel acted when the breaks went away?

Rich

I just want to say congrats Schmalz that THOR SMASHED! When I saw that he won I knew I would be visiting your site today to view the celebration.

I couldnt believe how poorly Milram played thier cards. I didnt catch EZ mannerisms though. He shouldve made damn sure he was in that front echelon. The back echelon just couldnt get their %_-~ together once they figured out Boonan was just sight seeing. I saw a lot of guys trying to bridge; which was making the situation worse for old Zabie.

lee3

ahhh……yes, got me facts flubbed! Zab did make that front group. You’re right DS….I’m gonna check out Zabel’s reactions a little closer.

Did you check out Stg.3 of the Basque tour afterwards? Euskatel’s got themselves a little starter kit it seems.
