Neuvation S3 Saddle@##=#<2,R>@##=#

I’ve probably written a few thousand words about my own ass, and as much as it surprises me to say it, I think that I might be tiring of discussing my own rear end. My butt has become more sensitive with each passing year. I don’t ever remember being as particular as I am about saddles as I am now. Each ride I go out on, I’m building a little virtual saddle in my mind that will be perfect for my little chair smasher.

I’ve fond out the following: I like a little raise at the end of my saddle (I like to think of this as the “Concor” shape), I need a channel in the middle when I ride this shape (and a cut out would be nice also), and finally – I need some padding. Padding is a particularly tough element to pull off, as having too much just shoves all the material back up into your plumbing (no good), and not having enough padding will expose any ill-fitting areas of the saddle when it comes into contact with your anatomy.

Neuvation is a company that intrigued me because their S3 saddle seemed to have all the elements I was looking for: a good shape, a cut out in what seemed to be the right place and finally – some padding. The saddle weighs in at 200 grams, so it’s not a liability weight-wise. It cost $79, plus, they have a satisfaction guarantee, if you don’t like the saddle, you get to return it. That seems very reasonable. It saves me from that ebay-a-go-go thing with the uncomfortable saddles.

@##=#<3,L>@##=#My first impression of the saddle was that it had a nice flex to it. I’ve come across a lot of saddles lately with limited or no flex. But between the saddle material and the padding, there’s some “cushion” going on there. The trouble with cushions is that they can be great when they’re on your favorite chair, but if you were to shove that same cushion up your jockey shorts, the cushion might not feel so good any more. And my wife now won’t let me near the couch cushions anymore.

So I rode the saddle, and it was really comfortable. The review could really end here, but I have an opportunity to keep describing my butt, and I’m getting my second wind booty-wise. So let’s continue, shall we?

The saddle was a breath of fresh air to my taint. The balance of padding and flex was just right for me, and in the past I’ve felt discomfort usually around the 60 minute mark on my rides. This saddle didn’t hit me at the hour mark, that’s pretty much it right there.

Deadwood

The biggest test is always the roller ride. The test consists of me sitting and riding the rollers until my junior mints go sour, or numb at least. The test is, of course, loved by the American Medical Association, but I refuse to sell the rights to those thugs. Riding the Neuvation Saddle, I never really went numb in an hour roller ride. I did feel some slight anesthesia effects at about the 35 minute mark, but the full numbing never happened. That’s good enough for me.

Time for Hate

I have a long standing policy to not disparage anything or anyone that treats my buttocks with respect, and I will stand by that policy. I will say that the finish on the Kevlar edging around the saddle seemed less finished than what you will see on other saddles. So the saddle is literally a little rough around the edges.

Where does that leave us?
I have a happy ass, and forgive me if I sound uncaring, but you can do what you’d like with your own tuffit topper.
