present
The Night before the Night before…
Roller Racing on the Eve of the Road Season
at the Brooklyn Brewery
Thursday, March 2nd, 2006 7:30pm

Check out the fastest road to nowhere. Speeds in excess of 50mph are routinely reached in thrilling head-to-head matchups on the classic Barelli Quadrulet Competition Rollers with Dial Face. Up to four racers can square off in a single heat where their silky smooth strokes will be put to the test. (visit www.bikecult.com to see the rollers still and in action).

Last month, National Champion Guillaume Nelessen sped away to an impressive win. This month, his competitors know how fast he is, and are vying to knock him off the top block.

Come Race or Spectate. Both will have ample opportunities to sample Brooklyn Brewery’s best. Whether you like your brew light or dark, Brooklyn has the taste for you. Cover charge $2.

Racing will consist of 500-meter seeding heats followed by 1k head-to-head races done in classic match-sprint-style elimination heats. USCF license mandatory, one-day licenses available on site. If you’ve ridden rollers before, give this a spin. If you haven’t, please try at home before attempting racing. Warmup begins 7pm. Entry Fee $8. Prizelist: TBD.

competitor nota bene: USCF gear limit of 25’3″ will be enforced. Spotters will be instructed not to hold during the heats–if ignored, warnings and dq’s will be given. Spotters are there to stop crashes, not keep square pedallers moving fast.

Event: Roller Racing

Time: Racing begins 7:30 pm
Where: Brooklyn Brewery, #1 Brewers Row, 79 North 11th St, Brooklyn NY, (718)486-7422

Jay, do you know how hard it is to keep a 200 Cad going while on a road bike? I don’t think that you do. However, if you go over the pictures you will see that there were many road riders doing pretty well (not being held). I was impressed… Track bikes are easier to keep a smooth flow due to the fixed gear. Come and try it out “Jay”. We are not holding, just supporting. Well see you there!

jay

Lacorte-you’re right I don’t know since I can only get to 197-unsupported on a road bike. I was there that night and alot of guys were being held I thouht Dave Perry’s arms were going to get ripped out of their sockets at one point-regardless, it is impressive and I may give it a whirl even though I probably won’t make it passed the first round. Whats up with the “”

LaCorte

197 on a road bike is pretty good… I think on a track bike that you will be able to keep that cad longer too with out all of that out of control motion you would get on the road bike… With a 197 CD you will make it past the first round providing that you are geared right… Good luck to you….. Andrew LaCorte

Callum (age 3 and 1/4 - similar to Mike's mental age)

And Sofie is hot ! In a few years time…….shes gonna be my first prom-date

Yo, “Not The Same Mike ” Yes I was a fat bastard last year too when I kicked some national track champions asses too. And I had all of that weight. Can you believe that shit? Hey Campo Cat, what was that, two heats that I took first place in a row? Tell these puck kids it is all in the legs.

Anyway getting back to dick-head, I do love to eat in the winter months and could lose a little more lbs. But I would rather look the way that I do instead of some skinny tooth-pick road rider lossing his hair because he sucks as a rider and likes to write about other people that I will snap in half. Come ride along side of me one day and let me know who you are. I’ll then show you what the weight is for.

I tell you what let’s compare our stomachs in, let’s say three more weeks? Are you game? Thanks for checking me out you fag. But I don’t know any body as fat as me that has kicked the crap out of US Track National riders. Do you? You must be real tuff writing without your name. So do me a favor and say it in my face you pussy.

The other Mike (Not ass making of himself Mike)

Mike, Andrew was told to stop at 500 meters in the race by the supporter next to him. Wake up man! The 4 rider did not have a chance against Lacorte. He also seems to be a very nice guy.

Jay

I also think that Lacorte holds the fastest time that has not been beaten in three 3 years? I believe it was a 16.2 in the 500. But man I do have to say that you are making a lot of enimies so early in the season. If I were you I too would not identify myself. You sure do have a lot of people pissed. Afraid? We all want to know who you are.

Dubs

At least one cat4 beat LaCorte in the TT heat (in which LaCorte took 6th). A second cat4 was only :00.19 behind him.

The Cool Mike

True. But sometimes Track guys don’t waste energy for TT’s. And I did look on Bike Cult’s website. He did do a 16.2. Hopefully weather will permitt the race tonight.

The cool Mike

Please don’t associate me with the other Mike. That guy is a looser. I agree with all of you. At this point I don’t think it is wise to id himself.

mike

not the db mike, not the other mike, not the cool mike-just another mike-is this still on with the weather?-thanks

Mike D

You’re scheming on a thing that’s a mirage – – I’m trying to tell you now it’s SABOTAGE!

Not The Same Mike

Well, all is said in done lacorta is vast on the rollers, fat in life but very nice to talk to.

Get in his belly

Mike

LaCorte

That is funny! I don’t remember talking to any Mikes. You should have told me it was you from the web. I was looking so forward to meeting you. I did see the Mike from Toga in the race but that was it for the Mikes. Becareful about fat guys.
