Not dead yet

There’s still racing. On roads. I know. Crazy, right?

Saturday there’s the Storm King Cannibal in Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY. Also on Saturday there’s the first race in the Mangoseed Restaurant – W.S. United’s Graveyard Series @ Floyd Bennett Field which goes on until October 30.

Sunday is the Pete Senia Memorial in Prospect Park and finally, there’s the Campmor H2H Race #8 The Leaf Blower, NJ State Championship in Hewitt, NJ.

I was watching the World Championship RR again last night and noticed that Cancellara was sprinting on his hoods. That’s why he was nipped for 3rd.

Flame away. He must not read this site.

If you’re good, you’re good.

I have won races on the hoods.

When you’re up to speed sometimes you can lose your groove when changing position. It’s best to stay where you’re most comfortable at the moment.

There is no rule book to follow…!

Bike Throw:

First of all, sprinting “in the drops” is fundamental. You get more power and speed, beside the fact your bike handling is improved and the little Foundation rider on your right side won’t sneak his elbows underneath you crashing your brand new not yet on the market Specialized Venge…
Secondly, when you throw your bike for the line get all your weight on the back leg fully extended like Griepel/Goss…of course didn’t help Goss (not that close at the line), but if Cancellara actually had sprinting technique he should have placed third…
(Always sprint closer to the officials/camera…)

Goss could have won by not letting Cav up the right side either, he had him boxed, but opened up the door which Cav very quickly pounced…a very long sprint for Cav to come from 8th wheel in the last 300 meters, bursting through/creating holes on the right side more than once…

for a sprinters world’s the podium is perfect…GB, Aussie and Germans were the strongest “sprinter’s” teams.

for the leadout, Hausler definitely had the horsepower, just not the good position going right up the middle, should have only given enough space on the right side for Goss and nobody else…just like how Renshaw normally does it for Cav…

HTC has shown that sized place biggest to smallest and positioning the sprinter off the leadout wheel on the wind protected side, only letting Cav thru, usually dominates the sprints…not simply that Cav is faster, which he is…

But anyway…

send me $500/month if you really want to win…

Val K.

I think it was a joke, maybe the message has some tidbits, but the $500/month is a joke…
coaching should be about the same as what a good trainer in a gym or monthly membership in a gym costs…obviously depending on services/value received.
I have no idea, as I just ride my bike, sometimes…

People post comments like they’re some kind of authority on a subject. Especially when those posts are on minute details of a race which was a few thousand miles away that can really only be known by those who are actually involved.

But also if you look at the video, Cancellara was so much less aero than Greipel. Quite obvious from the head on shot.

looka

Cancellara is a locomotive, not a bullet train. He’s also a master tactician. He did well to get 4th competing against lighter and faster guys who sprint for a living, but should have been 3rd.

Luchino Rear Entry

It’s the lighter guys who sprint for a living? I didn’t know that. Live and learn I guess… so, Greipel weighs in at, what, about 145?

Stan Axle

Cancellara’s clothes were too comfortable and luxurious. He got soft as the race progressed. I mean come on, custom Assos, how sweet is that? He was probably thinking about pulling over and having a nice chocolate truffle and an espresso.

Cav–his nuts were in a weenhammock/skinsuit, uptight all day, probably couldn’t wait to get outta the damned thing. At the time of his sprint, if you look closely, you can see him mouthing the words, “Bollocks!…my…fucking…balls!”

stan is the funniest shit ever! love it…
i vote to give $500 to stan!!!
now what about Cav’s “Olsen Twin” helmet???

Pete Seiena Pro-1-2-3 Race Recap: A very resilient main field caught numerous breakaway attempts during today’s race. Some of the breakaway animators included Skip (master’s dude…super strong…unattached all white uniform), Dioslaki of Metra / Cycles 54, Brian Breach of Mengoni, Franklin Burgos of JV and Adler. Ricky Anthony Lowe was even seen in at least of the failed few breakaway attempts. With less than three laps remaining in the race, Franklin Burgos of JV took a solo flier. He opened up a sizable gap. Then, on the base of the hill, with two laps remaining, it was Stephan Dioslaki who took his usual hard power dig up the hill. This time (as opposed to all of his other attacks), he snuck up the far right side and no one seemed to notice (or seemed willing to try going with him). Dioslaki bridged up to Burgos and the 2 of them motored along and opened the gap further. Two others joined on – one of which was ?? from Jonathan Adler. After a countless number of attempts, these 4 made it work. They drilled it…one of them was unable to hang. It was down to Stephan Dioslaki of Metra / Cycles 54, ?? of Adler and Franklin Burgos of JV. The cat and mouse game began after the descended the hill for the final time and approached the finish. Adler and Dioslaki alternated pulls while Burgos sat on. Adler jumped with around 200 yds to go…Dioslaki responded quickly and grabbed the wheel. With around 100 yds to go Dioslaki swung wide and clearly took the sprint win. In the end it was:
Stephan Dioslaki of Metra / Cycles 54 in 1st
Adler in 2nd (help me out with the guys name)
Franklin Burgos of JV in 3rd
Brian Breach of Mengoni in 4th
