Storm King Cannibal

The Storm King Cannibal is Transportation Alternatives’ premiere event in the grand tradition of Italian cycling.  Race, ride and relax in the incomparable hills of the Hudson Valley.

Take the challenge with pro racers on a 7.2-mile time trial race on the Storm King Highway.  Named in honor of five-time Tour de France winner Eddy “The Cannibal” Merckx, the Storm King Cannibal is a USA Cycling Association-licensed non-aero individual time trial race on the historic Storm King Highway, professionally produced by Sparta Cycling. 

All event proceeds benefit Transportation Alternatives, New York City’s leading advocate for cyclists, pedestrians and public transit users.  T.A.’s bike advocacy has won over 250 miles of new bike lanes in just a few years.  T.A. is your advocate for:

Registration & Fees

Registration for time trial race only is $50/person.  Register at the Maglia Verde level or above and follow the race with a full day of riding and relaxation in the incomporable Hudson Valley:

12 PM: The Hudson Hilltops.  Ride with T.A. Executive Director Paul Steely White and 200 fellow cycling advocates through the peak of fall foliage in Orange County.  Ride beautiful back roads through rolling countryside passing by the Storm King Art Center on a moderate 25 mile route with optional breakaway spurs with challenging climbs. 

2:30pm: The Finishers’ Feast.  Unwind at an exclusive luncheon across the river in Garrison, NY.  Enjoy spectacular river views and local Hudson Valley food & refreshments. We will celebrate our winners at a special award ceremony and continue the excitement with a live auction. 

Registration at the $250 level or above is tax-deductible. 

The Competition

Cash prizes for top overall Men’s & Women’s finishers.  Prizes awarded for top Team, top Him & Her and top Men’s & Women’s finishers in each age category.

Him & Her 

Special prize awarded for male & female racers with the fastest combined time. 

Team Competition

Individuals can register as members of a team of any size.  The four fastest time trial times from a team will be added to determine the winning team.  Team members are eligible for individual age group prizes.
