Off-Topic for 07/25/2010 – 02:10

Welcome to the Tue, 07/25/2010 – 02:10 edition of Off Topic! You are looking at the next step in the evolution of VCN, the Off-Topic page. Have you ever been frustrated because you had a burning desire to call someone a sandbagger and could only hope to be timely by posting your comment to a photo gallery page or on a page describing a charity ride?

Well, your prayers have been answered! You can post your comment from the home page and it magically comes to rest here with the other orphans from the land of Misfit Comments. The page gets refreshed every day, but not to worry! Each day’s page will be archived and treasured, so you can look back on past pages with pride, shame or disgust-depending on how the day’s conversation went. So post away! We’ve got an internet to fill up.

Trying to find out who’s got Miguel Blanco’s belongings. He had a nasty crash I heard in Prospect Park and now he’s at Kings County Hospital. If someone know anything, get back to ciupyke@gmail.com please.

Did Phil Liggett just say that he a and Phil had a “falling out” during the Tour? Obvious tension on the broadcast today among Bobke, Paul and Phil – really?

Matteo Seatpost

those guys need to go. this year–among the, if not THE, worst commentating ever. the armstrong ball licking was just over the top ridiculous.

Raphael Axle

seemed to have a pretty strong disagreement about Contador’s attack of the mechanical. After they’re disagreement, Phil was throwing out little barbs towards Paul regarding waiting for little things over the next few days.

…but it takes more than that (especially a lack of senility and dementia) to be a proper Tour commentator. And yes, all technical and factual mistakes aside, the Lance Worship is trying. It’s not even about Lance; they shouldn’t be spending that much airtime on anyone. Stick to the race at hand.

Jeremy Flange

…that it’s not Phil & Paul who decide how often to fly the Lance flag, but rather the VS producers who are thoroughly worthless and seem to have a skewed vision of their viewer base. We came for the race. Show the bloody race.

Am I the only one that finds the 28 million people living with cancer campaign to be a bit gratuitous? If you want to make an impact use your charitable foundation to fund R&D, support cancer sufferers with goods and services, racing your bike for personal glory – uh, don’t think so. He’s an amazing guy and like many who achieve out-sized greatness – a thoroughly skewed view of his own self-importance.

Craig Hummer: “Is there any way to make it better?”
Bobke: “Hold it in Italy”

Nope, you’re not alone.

Is it possible to make people more aware of cancer? Plenty of friends and family have suffered or died as a result of cancer in my lifetime, so yeah, I’m totally FUCKING aware of cancer, Lance. For fuck’s sake, what does making me more aware of people suffering with cancer have to do with cycling, or Mic Ultra, or Nissan, or Trek, or FRS, or Mellow Johnny’s? Nothing. It’s about dollar ONE. Gettin’ paid. Living like a rockstar under the disguise of a saint. And all of your jackasses with your yellow rubber bands bought in to his message, like the dogmatic disciples of organized religion. You will believe anything he says, defend all of his actions (good or evil), and likely go down in flames with him when he eventually sent off to the pokey with little dignity left.

Cancer exists and it’s not going away as long as we consume massive quantities of red meat treated with sodium nitrate for “redness”, drive everywhere in huge cars while drinking Big Gulps and eating shit, and take meds to make our dicks hard. Cancer treatment is VERY lucrative, with thousands of dollars being pumped in to the healthcare industry for treatment rather than cures it’s no wonder we aren’t any closer to a cure.

It’s all horseshit, and anyone who believes that Lance’s vision is divine altruism is a horse’s ass.

killian,
that rant was off-the-chain. seriously, though, are you railing against lance, big-pharma, healthcare system or the “amerikan” way?

David Locknut

I think what Kyllian’s trying to say is that he’s not signed up to receive Twitterstrong feeds throughout the day.
