Welcome to the Tue, 05/24/2010 – 02:10 edition of Off Topic! You are looking at the next step in the evolution of VCN, the Off-Topic page. Have you ever been frustrated because you had a burning desire to call someone a sandbagger and could only hope to be timely by posting your comment to a photo gallery page or on a page describing a charity ride?
Well, your prayers have been answered! You can post your comment from the home page and it magically comes to rest here with the other orphans from the land of Misfit Comments. The page gets refreshed every day, but not to worry! Each day’s page will be archived and treasured, so you can look back on past pages with pride, shame or disgust-depending on how the day’s conversation went. So post away! We’ve got an internet to fill up.
i vote for last man standing series: the last to finish in each group on each lap gets kicked out of crca races for rest of season.
Not sure what they get out of it. Especially when you are in some little hick town kind enough to put up with the annoyance of a bike race on the local roads.
didn’t cadel yell a fcukyeah when he crossed the line today? or was he spitting out a chunk of mud and dried up prosciutto that flung into his mouth?
CRCA should make it a 3/4 B field and a 1/2 A field.
For those who will not likely upgrade past 3s, there is little incentive to move to the A field.
The KoSâ„¢ on the Giro, VIP (which may soon enter your vocabulary).

if there were more 1’s that would make sense. otherwise, it’s just a 2 race.
sorry – disagree completely.
there’s a huge incentive to upgrade to As. for me, B racing was awesome/great place to learn, but after a while was no longer challenging. i didn’t want to be a point-hogging doosh and wanted to race stronger guys, so i upgraded to the As. (BG – if you want more competition do the same). otherwise:
1. B field big enough already
2. A field not big enough to support 1/2 only
3. not sure what 3 would choose to race down, but old 3s already have the option to race down in the Bs i believe
how about laying down the egos and going for fast laps at every club race? until the last lap, just get going on the front and drill it so laps can drop under 12 min again…
get rid of the category system altogether…
take a page from other programs that actualy produce great riders, and challenge rider to race fast, not like chess in lycra…believe you me, the racing as you go up, is about attrition not agression…fitness…not sitting in, get to the front and throw in 20 seconds of effort and with a collective like that the laps and speed and skills will all improve…then play tactics on the last lap…thats what makes the power points races so good…you hav eto be at the frotn and fit to even finish….
back to your regularly scheduled bs……..
done. great idea. you suggested it – throw down the gauntlet at the beginning of the next race. i’ll bet you’ll get a ton of takers just for the fun of it.
June 6th 7-lap A race is now the first annual “Balls to the Wall” / “Eggs to the Legs” format. 60 guy/gal long paceline going 30+. it’ll be totally giro.
Let him stay in B is he wants, or until he wins every race… easily. I doubt we’ll see Sids/Greg W as much with MTb season now on
How about a handicap race format—the As try to catch the Bs and Cs?
what about that foulmouthed fu#ker jackarooso!
fu#k yeah!!!
I think he goes by JackaFUCKYEAH! now.
didn’t a young Capala yell a triumphant “fuck yeah” after a nice win at the tour de christiana? the plain folk were shocked, and not happy
Being that CRCA are advertised as training races I like the idea of racing with the 3/4’s. Makes us excitable 4’s race faster. The whole point of CRCA is to get faster for actual races (you know, those that count for upgrade points, etc.).
The 3’s will probably run away from this idea, but I think it’s worthy of more talk.
Carry on.
umm, my post seems even crazier/more random w/o my friends here anymore, can u bump me to off-topic to please?

You’re all adults, why not allow riders to self select. If you can keep up with the As race with the As, if you want to practice at a slower pace race with the Bs or Cs.
If you like Handicap races why don’t more of you come out to FBF for charlie’s races?
dangling the lure is not dirty
cranking the bull frog IS though
“You’re all adults”
you must be new here. (unless you just misssplled “idots” in which case well-played)
that reminds me of the time i went fishing with my ole man when i was 6. we shouldve been going for bass, but i was dangling my lure* in front of a big fat bullfrog repeatedly until the thing jumped up and smacked it and caught himself. now i had a live bullfrog jumping around, croaking its frickin head off and making a fuss. i couldnt reel the bastard in and get my hands on him, he was flailing everywhere.
my dad just looked at me and said, now what the f-ck are you gonna do with that thing now that you caught it?
i didn’t exactly have an answer for him.
* no schmalz that’s not some sorta dirty euphemism … get your head outta the gutter
Right, the minute we all strap on the helmets and colorful underwear, our brains leak out of our heads and we become idiots.
Why not give up on holding CRCA races and just put 100 CRCA members each in one of three cages, A, B & C, then let them out after about an hour. Whomever survives, that is the winner.
i like to dangle the participle whenever possible
