Tour de Syracuse – It’s just around the corner

The Tour de Syracuse is just around the corner so come out and join us on May 16th and 17th.  Some of your teammates already have and many more have verbally committed so join us for a great weekend of racing (www.tourdesyracuse.com).

The hotels are cheap (yes, everything is cheaper up here, gang) and the courses are great.

This year we’re running the race as an Omnium so you can enter 1, 2, or 3 races and there are prizes in every competition.  

For the crit we’re using the same course we did when we ran this race for the pros and attracted the likes of Antonio Cruz and others.  The course has been newly repaved, it’s wide and its fast.

Back for the second year is the Crooked Lake Time Trial.  Having some moderate rollers and 3 miles in length, it’s a warm-up to the road race.  We didn’t realize just how popular this race was until we initially made the mistake of leaving out in this year’s planning.  Boy did we receive a lot of mail.  So it’s back at the racers’ request.

As part of this year’s additions we’ve modified the road race course.  We’re still starting at the Song Mountain Ski Resort, but we’ve removed the Oak Hill climb.  Does this mean there’s less vertical?  No, actually, there’s more.  Instead there’s a series of smaller climbs.  We revamped the course so more racers are in the race longer, thus adding to the competition and fun.  But don’t you worry there’s plenty of challenges and a new and longer final climb to the finish. 

For the ladies, Stevens Racing p/b The Cyclery (formerly EMD Serono Stevens), the Anthem Elite teams are joining us, with more to be announced.  For the juniors, May Britt’s Young Medalists will be with us, the Anthem Junior Team and, yes, some of the CRCA crew as well.  For all others, well there will be plenty of talent as always.  So come out and join us.  The race is just around the corner.

• Syracuse Criterium – Saturday, May 16^th –  On a newly repaved course Criterium Link
• The Crooked Lake Time Trial – The racers demanded that we bring it back.  At 3 miles in length with some moderate rollers, this course was obviously well received by last year’s racers.  This year it will serve as a warm-up to the road race.  Time Trial Link

• A LAJRS Event – Juniors, Young Medalists/Team Dual Temp will be racing in this year’s Tour de Syracuse.  This is one of the best junior teams in the country.  Come on out and join the fun. LAJRS Link
