I had lots of photos from Interbike, so I decided to use them as backgrounds.

For some reason Schmalz wrote Merckx as a caveman. He’d stay a caveman for all future installments.

Merckx is really that camera shy in real life. I snuck a quick shot of him at Interbike and he looked like he wanted to kill me.

Schmalz’s obsession with capri pants would resurface in a later Toto.

At Interbike, Andy tried to take a picture of Merckx, and he ran from him as if Andy were trying to steal his soul, hence the caveman thing. The caveman things also works well to show how racing was in the good old days. It’s hard to believe it took this long for me to mention capri pants.
