Wheelsucker 007

Dude’s 54, with back problems crybaby Chump. Hasn’t really raced in 10 years either. Can’t handle that? You don’t deserve to upgrade. BTW he’s a 3, not a 1.

Wheelsucker

….easy there Wheelsucker 007 – not talking about Chris Chon Tenn. It’s awesome that he won. Talking about Gotham kid – he’s a cat 1 racing in the cat 3 field. Read before you type next time – said “2nd” place – not first.

Wheelsucker

I’m sure he’s a nice kid…but after placing 2nd in the 3 field he enters the P/1/2 field. Officials catch on a few laps into the race. They stop the race to pull him. After speaking with him it’s decided that he would be DQ’d from the 3 field but can stay in the P/1/2 race. Race resumes.

Wheelsucker

That must have been great for everyone in the P12 race. I see it all the time. Guys with international licenses think they an register in any category they want. Canadians do it all the time. A cat 2 registered for the 3 race also but was moved by promoter when someone notified him.

Cat4Forever

You are all wrong!!! He is a young pro from Columbia and once raced with the Columbian national team. I have nothing against the kid. It is the fault of the organizer not checking his race cat level before allowing him to register for the Cat 3. I wish him all the best in NYC and maybe will get signed by a local (tri state area) pro team….

Wheelsucker

Agreed. It should have been caught at the time of registration. Officials knew something was up as they asked some in the P/1/2 field before the start of the race if they had raced in an earlier race that day. They started the race & then had to stop it to address the issue. No issues with the kid if it was an innocent mistake. So how does this happen? Did he produce a UCI license to enter the 3 field? Did he show a USAC license to enter the P/1/2 field?

Wheelsucker

i wish him the best in NYC as well. maybe he will go to college and “get signed” by a real employer and race bikes for camaraderie and fitness.

Wheelsucker

I disagree. It is his fault for knowingly entering a lower category race. Promoters should police this better but its tough. He raced as a cat 1/2 this entire season and knows the rules. Even if he just used it as a warm up its still wrong, especially when he was in breaks and finish2nd. Low class. I wish him the best but categories are there for a reason

Wheelsucker

When I was a junior in 2002 I once entered a Master’s race accidentally at the MA state crit championships. I didn’t realize the mistake until a few laps in. I was only signed up for the junior race at the time. I was warming up by my car watching my clock as they had said what time the race would begin. Turns out they were behind and I didn’t realized. I rode to the start, hopped into the field and off I went. Upon realizing my mistake I pulled out and drove home never having raced the Junior race I was signed up for.

Wheelsucker

stop whining baitches. what i wanna know is who is the babe with the camouflage pants. she can enter any category, suckas.

Wheelsucker

wow a “pro” racing 3’s and he didn’t win by minutes.

what, exactly, defines one as “pro?” free chamois cream?

Foknspoke

Riddle me this?

Chong Tenn, nice guy, has been doing extrememly well lately in many big races. 10th at Cat 2/3 in Boston, 1st Cat 3 fort lee crit. Am I the only person who finds this odd. Was Chong Tenn an amazing talent back in the day?

Toga’s fancy wheels were no match for Chong’s 32 spoke bolts of lightening.

Wheelsucker

If you need to ask if Chris was an amazing talent you didnt have the pleasure racing against him – answer is yes he was and still is. Same can be said for a whole bunch of 45+ guys who were and still are top rides. Kudos to them and simply work harder.

Wheelsucker

Hate to use the phrase, but Chris just raced a very smart race. You didn’t see him up front wasting any energy throughout the race. He made his move about half way into the final lap – just a very smart racer. Guess it comes from years of experience. If you are insinuating anything – and to be fair in this day and age I think it’s all fair game – there were no apparent signs of any unnatural performances. He just timed his move to perfection.

Wheelsucker

“You know you’ve made it in the NYC cycling scene when you’re accused of sandbagging.”

I agree with you. But being “accused” and blatantly cheating like young Mr. “nice kid”, is two different things…..and then the punishment he faced for being DQ’d from the 3 field was being allowed to race in the P12 field, it’s beyond stupid!!! “oh you Phucked up, now go race P12 as your punishment, oh and you’ve got an appropriate license to race in the P12 field to boot, well golly Mr Nice Kid, step up to the line!!” WTF!!!! Knowingly racing in a lower catagory carries the penalty of a SUSPENSION! and don’t hand me that line of crap he didn’t know. BULLSPIT! and also don’t tell me it’s up to the promoter…it’s about integrity, PERSONAL integrity!!!

Wheelsucker

6:14 you have anger issues. How is your relationship with your father? Did he not provide you with a GI Joe with the kung fu grip for Christmas when you were young, subjecting you to ridicule from your friends when they had action figure hero war game parties? Did you get an easy bake oven instead? Or a box of lincoln logs? Or maybe even a nice new Campy Nuovo Record gruppo which oh darn, you had no idea what it was so he used it instead?

Wheelsucker

LOL 6:47. If the truth represents anger to you…so be it. What I am is disappointed….I guess simple decency and respect for your fellow competitors is expecting to much. BTW what’s wrong with Lincoln Logs?

Wheelsucker

I’m not accusing Chris Chong Tenn of doping — although as a pro in the 80’s, he might have then — but he is a sandbagger. If you chat with him in the back of a race or ride — the back is where you’ll always find him — he’ll brag about his days riding with Ron Kiefel, Steve Bauer, and Greg Lemond.

Whatever he’s taking for his bad back must be working, he’s raced over 20 times in the past 3 months.

Chris may be a nice guy, but is it really fair for a former pro to race Cat 3 and 3/4 races? i know you don’t get upgrade points for masters races, that’s not the point. But I think he does have enough points from category races to upgrade back to cat 2.

As for Echeverri, there really wasn’t much the officials could do in the 1/2 race. that’s where he belonged. he should get suspended for knowingly entering the wrong race earlier but the officials on site can’t give out suspensions for that. They dq’d him which was all they could do.

If CCT or JJ want to race (and win) Cat 3 races at 50+ years old, they can. In CCT’s case, he beat you on a set of 32 spoke training wheels vs your $3k Firecrest 404’s and an extra few lbs on top of the bike as well. Assuming you are half his age and have ample time to upgrade, why don’t you try and learn from his tactics in these races? (sweet move at the end of that race) And instead of criticizing him for racing with those pros you mention, listen and try to learn something.
When Moser raced with us that day in PP, you saw even at his age and on a borrowed bike how smooth he was. Same thing with Zabel when he rode here. Not that Chris was either of those guys, but he still has forgotten more about cycling that you presently know.

Maxence O-Ring

every race I m with CCT I try to learn something. Man is class act. stop the hating, this is a hobby.

Wheelsucker

had no idea that dude was an ex pro. pretty funny looking with his mismatched helmet and looks like the love child of Cheech and Chong, no pun intended. But I did notice that he knows how to race.

Wheelsucker

Rodrigo didn’t make a mistake. He had a Cat 3 # on for the Cat 3 race and then switched it for the P12. No class. Also, I don’t understand why a former pro in his 50s would race cat 3 when there is a 45+ and 35+ race. unless he is looking for upgrade points. Not that I mind racing with ex-pros but it does make you wonder. I’ve just noticed a lot of “sandbagging” going on this season. We had 5 or 6 Canadian cat 2s (and one cat 1) in the Cat 3 field of Catskills. A Cat 2 won the TT. I wonder if guys get satisfaction out of winning in lower Cats?

Wheelsucker

i dunno about the canadians but CCT isn’t racing the 3’s for the satisfaction, he’s doing it for the money.

Wheelsucker

I have seen CCT hang in the 1/2/3s just fine. If you’ve downgraded to race 3s, but are winning you should simply be doing Master’s races against other former pros.
