ME…………..MQ
This morning at 8:30 an amazing thing happened in Central Park. The entire CRCA bike community
came out in full force to honor the man that could almost be known as Mr. Bike Central Park.
Cyclists came from all over the country to join Dave Jordan’s friends and family and ride in his honor.
They shared private thoughts and public memories of a man who cared about racing enough to spend
the better part of his short life coaching and sharing what he knew with the riders of New York City.
It was only fitting that the ride started with a lap around Dave’s beloved park where mourners joined Dave’s family.
The sea of riders made their way respectfully around the loop, some remembering DJ with shared stories, others
silently wondering why.
Most continued North to Piermont, a course carefully and lovingly organized by friend Ray Alba. At times it was hard to believe
that Dave was not actually there- since it was his kind of ride. A training run that looked always forward to the finish line.
The line that Dave had just recently crossed for the final time.
This event was magical. I am sure DJ was there! He might have helped keep the ride dry, safe, fun and memorable for all of us.
DJ will be missed and I am sure he would hope that we keep in contact with his family as they go through life without DJ physically here. Please be sure to contact them; email, facebook, phone call, letter checking to be sure they are OK.
Keep it fun, keep it real and ride safely.
Love,
Ray
Thanks for posting this- I am still in shock. Did not know DJ well, but he was a good man. He will be missed.
Thank you for posting the pictures- nice to see so many faces from the community- including the great Ray Alba.

Just realized that this is the bike Dave bought 2 days before he died:

thanks andy and dan for all this – a labor of love. and thanks to ray for helping organize the moving ride (pun not intended) and to mq for the images. this picture says it all and affirms what dj stood and lived for: life on the move, onward.
It’d be cool if CRCA starts an annual race in DJ’s name & memory and invites his family every year. I’m sure they’ve already thought of that….
these posts & photos about dj bring tears to the eyes. seriously. don’t even know the guy, but can easily see the outpouring of warmth and love from all who did.
life is short. far too short.
