Update on Damian,

I know that you all know Damian’s story by now and have seen my photos of him as he has worked through each surgery. It has been a tough few months but he is on the way to recovery. He is starting to train easily – indoors on his LeMond Fitness trainer so he can try and be a little fit for the upcoming World Cup in early July which will be in Canada. The UCI is helping to be sure that this happens.

But we just got word that the medical team at NYU Langone Medical Center wants him to have one more surgery which will prolong his stay and add more expenses. So many of you have been so generous with support and thanks to cyclists we have raised a good amount
along with thousands of dollars of support from the industry – FUJI, Shimano, Louis Garneau, LeMond Fitness, IFIXBYX, Endurancewerx, Westwood Cycles, Spokesman.

But, to be sure that we have enough funding for the balance of his stay and to help with his World Cup expenses, I am asking those of you who gave to consider a second gift and for those of you who have not – to please consider giving. We have the special Pay Pal account set up: TeamDamian2011@gmail.com for gifts. If we end up with more funds than needed, we will forward the money on to Achilles International. Achilles and Hanger are providing his prosthetics.

I can tell you personally, that getting to know Damian has changed my life and wish that all of you could get to spend time with Damian. The strength of his spirit is truly amazing. So when you think you are having a BAD DAY? He will be at some of the races so if you see him

Andrew McDade and his beautiful family who took him in and its been staying with them for quite a while now and have made him feel like part of his family. I even think his legal name now is McDamian McLopes McAlfonso. Now don’t quote m on the name but I think im right.
