Reminds me of Somerville in `02 or so…I’ve finished my race and am camping out on a lawn. Vicki Huffman is there with her kid and,as far as I can tell, basically co-ops a few spectators to watch her kid for a bit while she goes out to do her race. What ever happened to her?

Champ Sys bikes are made in Asia, much like the Champ Sys clothes. No american company was involved.

what does riding for Empire or CHAMPSYS get? The most I ever got at the cat1-2 level was a bike, tires and kit, some entry fees/travel reimbursed ($4000), “50% in team split/50% keep yourself” prize split.
Whats the going rate Ray Alba and Mike Sherry?
Mengoni?
Foundation?
Whats the big secret?

Should I be happy and shut up with my 10% shop discount on inner tubes?
My other gig is watching The Penguins of Madagascar…

Fact checker: That’s about the most I’ve ever heard anyone getting in a cat 1-2 team. In a team of 6 guys (which is pretty small) that represents an overall team budget of over $30-40k. Most cat 1-2 teams are managing with a lot less cash than that.

my 5-year old nephew makes more money at his summer lemonade stand than most cat 1-2’s do racing bikes.

what do most cat.1-2 riders do for a living? if they are busy training, racing, traveling? I am writing an article for my middle school career page in the yearbook…
How do I find out about college cycling programs?

3:57 — You’ll find 3 types of cat 1-2s: 1) Trustafundians supported by mommy and daddy. 2) Moochers who couch surf and take advantage of whomever they can to squeak by week-to-week. 3) Normal dudes with jobs and families who fit bike racing in with the rest of life’s commitments. Most of us are #3.

Go to usacycling.org or google “national collegiate cycling association” for info on collegiate programs, of which there are many.
