can someone explain to me why people are registering NOW for the cat 5 race at tour of the catskills? you don’t expect to do 10 races between now and then? really?
and you care why?
just trying to wrap my head around someone planning on being a cat 5 for an entire season. they should upgrade to excitable cat 4.
cat5’s at least know their place (even if it’s finite).
most cat 4’s think they’re 3’s in 4’s clothing.

Guidelines and Notes by Category:
5-4: Experience in 10 mass start races. Local Associations may also establish policies where upgrade credit is given for taking a sanctioned rider education clinic. In no case should a Cat 5 in May still be a Cat 5 in September.
Upgrading from cat 5 is not mandatory. If some guy wants to spend a year racing in the 5’s, why can’t he do it? Maybe his fitness is terrible, or his pack riding skills are bad. We all know there are WAY too many shaky cat 4’s.
I think we should change the Category criteria for local races:
CAT No Life: No job, no spouse, no kids in your care living in your house
CAT Low Life: Job or spouse (just one), no kids
CAT Life: Job and spouse, no kids
CAT Baby Jail: Job, spouse, kids
CAT Paws Hill: Job, spouse, kids, no ability
surely there must be a category between cat no life and cat low life. because i’m in it.
