Mayor’s Office released this statement: “I have asked the DOT chief to deploy up to 50 vehicles to Floyd Bennett Field to circle the roadway at a high rate of speed to disperse the collected water and “debris” on the course. Otherwise it is possible that tonight Floyd race would have to be cancelled. That is a risk I wasn’t willing to take.”
There will be two announcements regarding the status of tonight’s Floyd Bennett Field race. The first announcement will be made around 12 noon. If the course is deemed “not safe for racing” the race will be canceled. If the course is considered safe to race as of that time as second announcement will be made around 4:30PM for the most current status.

Sorry but does anyone know a rider called carlos , he was hit by an suv on 55th and 9th and taken away by ambulance leaving his specialized tarmac pro bike with a friend of mine. He mentioned he was with a local club, maybe crca. My friend would like to get his bike back to carlos if you could email me at ppenman@mac.com if you know anything concerning the crash so the bike can be returned.

FBF is CANCELLED
Tonight’s Floyd Bennett Race is cancelled. Turn 2 is under a foot of water, the Start/Finish runway has the far 5 right lanes flooded and there are large “lakes” all over the course. The course is unsafe for racing.

Carlos is on my team (Scottos). He’s still in hospital. Sounds like he will be ok – he’s got quite an injury to his leg. I sent him your email to contact you directly to get his bike back.
