Welcome to the Tue, 08/10/2011 – 06:00 edition of Off Topic! You are looking at the next step in the evolution of VCN, the Off-Topic page. Have you ever been frustrated because you had a burning desire to call someone a sandbagger and could only hope to be timely by posting your comment to a photo gallery page or on a page describing a charity ride?
Well, your prayers have been answered! You can post your comment from the home page and it magically comes to rest here with the other orphans from the land of Misfit Comments. The page gets refreshed every day, but not to worry! Each day’s page will be archived and treasured, so you can look back on past pages with pride, shame or disgust-depending on how the day’s conversation went. So post away! We’ve got an internet to fill up.

Be sure to ride with elan whilst carrying your essentials to the race in Rapha’s new $200 backpack. Every NYC racer’s raison d’etre should be to look absolutely fabulous as they get mugged on the west side.

Why is Saturdays race so much cheaper?
now that you deleted what I was commenting on.
wouldn’t that make them more expensive?
The excitable category race Sunday is actually cheaper per mile, $0.70 vs $0.93 on Saturday. And while at it (because it’s always asked)CRCA club races can average $21 for renewing member and $24 for 1st year:
$60 to join
$150 for 15 races
$150 for 3 marshal subs
—-
$360
/ 15 races
—-
$24 per race
====
hey art, marshal yourself and bring the cost down to <$15. and you spelled andersen wrong. zing!
Kissena get to race in Kissena sponsored races for $15. So between a $50 membership, and no marshal requirements you can race 15 times in a season for a little over $18, if we’re going to discuss how to race for cheap.
…but then you have to be on Kissena.
Yeah but then you would have to race as Kissena dweeb. Zing!
my marshaling time has a monetary value of $50 to me and an intangible opportunity cost of a missed race, which is priceless đ
Jinx!
You owe me a coke.
Has Kissena ever thought of going the route of having subteams, like CRCA? As it is now, they have an assload of riders all on the same ‘team’, so to speak. While it’s not the size of CRCA, they do bill themselves as ‘NYC’s Premier Cycling Club’, so surely it could be done?
I’m not on their team, but have no strong feelings about them, whats with the venom?
Probably hates Queens, got a bad gyro sandwich one day.
