Maximizing Cycling Performance Symposium

The NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases and the NYU Langone Sports Medicine Division is proud to sponsor a free "Medicine of Cycling" Symposium for athletes at all levels and coaches. The conference will be held at the NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases at 301 East 17th street in New York City from 8 am until noon on Saturday, March 19, 2011. Registration begins at 7:15 am. Breakfast will be served. Our keynote speaker will be Dr. Inigo San Millan, renowned cycling physiologist, who will discuss the state of the sport, coaching and physiology. Other topics are: Medical evaluation and monitoring of the athlete, how to deal with serious injury, recovery from injury, doping, and advances in bike fit. There will be time for questions and discussion. Please see the list of topics, below. We will also have space for vendors to display their cycling-related products. Demonstration of the RETUL system. **The mind of the cyclist: Optimizing Performance and Recovering after injury- Lee Igel, Ph.D. **The Masters Athlete, The Female Athlete- Ann Marie Miller, M.A. **The Hungry Cyclist: Optimizing nutrition before, during and after a race- Felicia Stoler DCN, MS, RD, FACSM KEYNOTE LECTURE: **Sports Physiology: Training and Monitoring in the era of the Cybercoach- Inigo San Millan, Ph.D. PLEASE NOTE: This event takes place in a hospital, so no bicycles are allowed in the building (we tried to allow this but we cannot do it). There is a parking garage nearby at 18th and 3rd avenue which has bike parking for about $6 per day.
