Back home again

Now that the Battenkill upheaval is over, things around New York can return to normal—with crowds of racers in tights assembling in public parks in the pre-dawn hours for group sessions of panting and grunting.

Saturday in Central Park there’s a CRCA Club Race and the CRCA Women’s Clinic.

Also on Saturday, the Lucarelli and Castaldi Cup beings in Prospect Park.

Sunday the Spring Series Time Trial is scheduled to take place at the Palisade Interstate Park. And Bethel is hosting the 2013 Outdoor Sport Center Bethel Spring Series – Zwiedzanie Bethel on Sunday.

How is it a cyclist miss the start of the Cat 1,2,3 race then hide in the joggers lane and go into the WINNING BREAK. Way to GO METRA rider.

Donato Asshat

Cheat? Did you call him out? Did you complain to an official or the promotor? Hmm, didn’t think so.

Sam Bartape

Several of the guys in the money vouched for him as he discussed it with the official because they really thought he was telling the truth. But later there were multiple riders who flatted out early who said they talked to him when he showed up late – in fact, they said he’d asked whether the Pro123 field had gone. So he didn’t just lie to the official, but he apparently let his fellow racers vouch for him while he did it.

Vincent Steerer

That sucks. I was in the break with him and we did all vouch for him. I have to say i was kind of wasn’t more pissed, I guess this explains it. Really lame. Well we all know who he was.

Gaetan Crank

Welcome to racing in Prospect. Not sure why your so surprised at the circus that goes on at these races.

Wouter Cable

Easy on the incendiary rhetoric….yes he deserved to be DQd but i’m sure he didn’t mean to miss the start after getting up at 3:30 or whatever just to save some energy. He’s certainly a strong enough rider to start with the field AND make the break.

As for the “circus” comment, it was actually a great race. What more are you looking for? Players in the NFL or NBA break rules all the time, that’s why there are officials. They actually did their job this time, imagine that.

Jumping in a race you missed the start of might be a goof.
Jumping influence the pointy of that race is an unfortunate mistake.
Getting into the break is bad form.
Jumping directly into the break when you enter the race is an asshole move.
Lying about it all is a priceless display of ones character.

So who won at the Prospect circus this weekend? I only see talk of the Metro rider who tried to pull a Houdini and obviously failed wasting precious watts.

Jonas Drainhole

Seems this is a trend.
At Bethel a Mengoni rider (not registered) jumped in the 3/4’s and pulled some of the Montecci riders up front.

Jonas Compliant

Yeah I noticed that Mengoni rider cheating at Bethel as well, he was also sporting a number from another race, yet more class exhibited by NYC classiest team

Kylian Rubber Hood

He should be suspended for 3 months from USCF racing for not being in the race and affecting the outcome. I can see jumping in the back and getting your workout in, hoping the officials don’t see you, but such a blatant disrespect of the rules should be reprimanded.

Vespaciano Fork

I don’t know.
He probably showed up to do the 1/2/3 race – his registration record may be there?
Or even better, ask the 3-4 Montecci riders who were there getting the help?

MENGONI CHEATS!
MONTECCI CHEATS!

Wouter Cable

I’m still not Stephan. Really. Just can’t wait to check out “the Hangover” while I’m having my morning coffee 🙂 Again….the guy cheated, got caught, got DQ’d. I’m sure he feels embarrassed. But others have done far worse.

Gabriel Ferrule

Mengoni the team was last relevant 15-20+ years ago. Since then, it’s been a farce.

Mengoni the man, however, deserves a lot of respect and admiration.

Vespaciano Fork

I agree, the man deserves respect. I do.

But unfortunately, what appears to be a small misbehavior by a riders like this, can ruin years of hard work and positive reputation.
Thus, my comment about “character”.

Mengoni(team) sucks

Guillaume Liner

but maybe that cyclist not sap the united tates career, he could see maybe a confucion there

Hugo Skidmark

The team is as legit is most pop up Cat 1-3 teams in the area… these days. The last quality racer/person they had was Wilson V. The rest of the guys have had spotty pasts at best… I will say however, there are a few guys who race up in Bethel that are past Mengoni racers that still wear the kit. I am not saying it wasnt a Mengoni rider, but it could have been an ex-rider who hangs with the Motecci guys.

Wouter Cable aka Steve Dioslaki’s post before is telling. “Hey I overslept. I didn’t mean to. It was an honest mistake, and I deserved to get into the race.”

Diolaski’s “anonymous” race reports over the years sort of give up his writing style.

Wouter Cable

wrong. I’m not Stephan. In fact I don’t even know him personally. Just thought the previous post was a little over the top.

fabio fabulouso

Not many folks would be hitting refresh ready to pounce on posts but him, so you’re not really help the case. Good luck with it. There’s a long history in NY of forgiving (but not forgetting) the ways guys cheat. Doping, cutting the course, jumping in late, jumping into other fields, starting late. Don’t sweat it, a mengoni guy did the same thing yesterday.

Vespaciano Fork

May be super strong teams should start considering taking on riders not for their speed alone but some character quality as well.
The rider wasn’t registered, he is actually a higher category rider.
He had number from another race placed upside down on his jersey.
And he was trying to help another team…Montecci…

It’s really embarrassing for other racers. And one person’s actions like that make the whole team look bad.

I used to look up to teams like Mengoni. With what has happened in the recent years I must say, I don’t care much about them anymore.

I am sorry, Mengoni suck. And while I am at it, the team who was getting help from the Mengoni rider suck, too.

Pathetic.

Vespaciano Fork

I don’t know.
He probably showed up to do the 1/2/3 race – his registration record may be there?
Or even better, ask the 3-4 Montecci riders who were there getting the help?

MENGONI CHEATS!
MONTECCI CHEATS!

Guillaume Liner

insurance was that it was with a uniform mengonia was run and new corridor and sap the rule of United States in the race

C

btw, I think no one here knows the difference between Foundation & Mengoni. Different teams. Both have some questionable recent histories.
