Fumey once…

I’ve had a weekend full of breathing paint fumes, so you will forgive me if I am not my normal self today as I type up the weekend’ monumental achievements. I smell colors.

Regis Dupont of Siggi’s/NYVelocity won the C race. Kathryn Murtagh finished first in the women’s clinic. Results are here.

At Saturday’s Lucarelli & Castaldi Cup in Prospect Park, Karl Nelson of EECT/Green Arm Bandits won the pro1/23 race. Juan Aracena was the top placed 45+ racer. Gregory DeFiore won the cat 4 race. Louisgie Shoy of MCBR won the cat 5 race. Results are here.

Stephan Dioslaki has just signed up for this Saturday’s Lucarelli & Castaldi race in Prospect Park. Let’s give him a warm NYC welcome, only a weekend after he tried to deceive everyone.

Allowing him to race again sends the wrong message, on behalf of USA cycling and the race organizers & sponsors. You cheat, just get DQ’d but come back next weekend and no worries.

Pathetic.

Guccio Torque

yet nobody has the balls to go up to him personally to tell him of these things, witness all the anonymous vitriol.

Cheaters Suck

I guess you don’t have balls either. But identifying you is easier, his mom, or team mate.

It does not matter who “we” are. It matters that the opinion is heard and hopefully someone with authority will take action.

Guccio Torque

I was neutered at an early age, so technically I don’t have balls.

Lance has 1 ball, but that’s not important right now.

Ernesto Liner

There was no proof to DQ Steve. It was based on accusations from a team who had two riders in the break, one of which flatted in the final laps, and then some how finished 10th while never getting overtaken by the chase group… Super fast wheel change or illegal free lap?

Sounds like a good strategy… point fingers at Steve so Rodrigo doesn’t get caught cheating.

Enzo Skidmark

There are more than enough witnesses who can testify to Dioslaki’s chicanery. If the “authorities” want to hear from them, all they have to do is ask.

Rafel Beamon

The funny thing about racing against Dioslaki
Is that even if he cheats and beats you,
winning that bike race is all that he can see
and all that he has.

Enzo Skidmark

Dude: you cheated in a bike race and got DQ’d. Get over it. This “it wasn’t me it was HIM” thing ain’t working.

Hater Hater

Y’all are pathetic… bet you wouldn’t care if you could beat Dio, thats why you want him out

No a fan of Bullshit

Being a good local bike racer does not give you the right to fuck with a lot of other guys that got there on time.

JP was 1 minute late too, did he shit on the rules and the race? I don’t believe he did. Any rider is an once of integrity does not pull this kind of bullshit.

Stephen, I’d like to hear you defend yourself or at the very least apologize.

s;up

I love that you guys always want a public defense on this forum, like when you “demanded” DA explain himself. Do the crime, do the time…that’s all there is to it.

Hugo Skidmark

This is a good site for strong reminders of why so many leave the sport of “competitive” bike racing…

Pump Friction

What time is Dioslaki doing?

The bastard cheated everyone and he’s continuing to race as if nothing ever happened.

No suspension for breaking the rules = no incentive for following them.

Corentin Chamois

How is the DQ an incentive not to cheat? It’s equivalent to a DNS, which is what he would have had if he hadn’t cheated. Instead, because cheated he got the thrill of racing/winning. You think he cares he won’t get the upgrade points or cash? You think that’s not a better outcome than just riding home and being sad you showed up late? If this had been a CRCA club race, I’ve got to think he would’ve been suspended for a couple of races.

Julien Topcap

i’d be a lot more bothered if he did something which put others at risk, like sprinting in the joggers lane, which happens all the time. Getting DQ’d (and worse, shamed on NYVelocity) seems sufficient.

Hugo Skidmark

I doubt one guy in a local Cat1-3 race can really dictate the outcome of a race in NYC and especially on that course. He was DQed, likely embarassed and the guys in the break were bumped up a position. The rest of the pack was never a factor in the break and having one guy up the road who should not have been did not prevent any of you from trying to bridge up.

Its funny how over the years the most critical racers are the new Cat3s who think but for … I would have won the race, recieved my upgrade points and so on. Just move on and enjoy the next race.

Pump Friction

“I doubt one guy in a local Cat1-3 race can really dictate the outcome of a race”

Dioskaki placed 3rd in the KOM competition and since the officials only took the top 3 places then the guy who got 4th, who would have eventually ended up 3rd after the DQ, got SCREWED bc he gets nothing. Imagine if that guy ends the series with enough points for 2nd overall in the KOM and could’ve had 1st but no, because of Stephan… how does that not affect the outcome.

Brent Ferrule

King of MOUNTAIN in Prospect Park? Umm, what kind of crackhead title is that? What is it, a 50′ elevation gain?

Bernardo Ferrule

Second place in KOM in Prospect Park is not a race result and he did not impact anything with this. BTW – the KOM points guys ( I cant believe that have a KOM in NYC) could have bridged to eat up the points early…

So entertaining.

Simone Tubie

I’ve seen announcements about Tuesday night FBF races but anyone know if there will be Thursday night races this year?

crankinitis

It was announced on their FB page that the race starts as planned on May 7, that the permit is being processed and all debris that is on the course will be cleared.

C

Yeah that’s Tuesdays but I’ve seen no update for Thursday’s from WS United. Anyone know their plans?

Diego Saddlebag

I have moved from Cat 5 to Pro in just one season by always starting one lap ahead of the field at the whistle. Something wrong with that?

Hope you're all proud

You make a big fuss over someone who has already (perhaps wrongfully) got his DQ, while you not so much mention 10th place Rodrigo Echeverri who got away with taking a free lap! Yes, the same Rodrigo Echeverri who got caught racing both the Cat 3 and P/1/2 at Tour of Fort Lee.

Enzo Skidmark

Well there you go again. If at first you don’t succeed…

There’s no “perhaps wrongfully”. Stop it already.

And you keep fishing this Rodrigo thing and nobody’s biting cuz you’re obviously making it up to deflect attention from what you did.

Tristan Liner

Well, since prizes went 10 deep and there were 11 in the break, it wouldn’t be good feng shui to DQ two people.

Qwai Chang Chain

if a man rides bicycle in counterclockwise circles in central park, is he moving forwards?

Dorian Swage

Ohhhh the drama!! Damn!! But how famous can one get from one shittin’ little (arguably) questionable move?!? Oh – and this Rodrigo dude???…??? by the way, did he not walk out of there with 10th place and thus some prize money after flatting out, getting a wheel change, taking a lap off and then jumping back into the race?!?! (Grounds for a DQ ?!??!) Oh – and as a result of all that, doesn’t this Rodrigo dude CURRENTLY appear on the Leader’s Jersey List for not one, but TWO of the leader’s jerseys (overall & Sprinters) ? And…um…wasn’t it HIS Team that was protesting the other famous guy’s (Dio’s) results? And his teammate (Rodriguez) appears on ALL THREE of the race jersey’s leader’s lists!! Whoa!! Are we missing something here? Hmmmmm…Seems like the only difference here is 1 got DQ-ed while the other didn’t. Sounds like he too, the other dude, should be equally (if not more) famous.
