Old troll knows

There are races aplenty in the New York area this weekend, with four options within reach on Saturday and three more around on Sunday. Let me take a moment to say, that as someone who had to troll the back pages of Velonews for races (I am old), that is absolutely astonishing.

Saturday has a CRCA club race, Met finish, numbers right. Later on Saturday, FBF gets its first race of the season at the Kings County Challenge. Up in Coxsackie (a town name which I still haven’t used in an untoward fashion), there’s the second race in the Brinkerhoff Memorial Spring Race Series. Finally on Saturday, there’s a race at Branchbrook

There’s also the Thompson Park Spring Training Series in Monroe, NJ. The Spring Series race is being held in Prospect Park. And don’t forget about the 2011 Outdoor Sport Center Bethel Spring Series – Bethel CDR Gold Race.

That’s a lot of racing, you can almost hear the upgrade points being submitted the USACycling.

I am that old also. Paterson Crit, Pittsfield, Danbury, Tour of Greenwich, New Britain, etc. plus that unsanctioned DIY ‘training series’ at Pomperaug H.S. and the even DIY-er one at Berkshire Industrial Park a.k.a. Duracell…

who is the sanchez dude with the incredible spit flying out of his mouth in the nyv logo? anyone know?

Robin Biopace

You must be new to the racing scene. That is future Doc. Colin Prensky. one of those rower guys that was always fast.

Florian Nipple Ring

That is NOT Prensky, but was his lead-out buddy. Presnky is far too dreamy for that to be him, but I think they both had results Bro.

Robin Biopace

I really thought that was Prenksy! Not sure of anyone else besides Willingham and the guy who is now on Adler

Gregorio Locknut

Can we just skip the weekend and pretend it’s monday and Olsen won all the races this weekend?

Prensky

i’m the guy in front of the spitball. the producer of said “epic” spit is non other than Chad Marion, who now resides in Seattle, but raced here in NYC for one year while in town on an Ortho fellowship.

Noah Locknut

what! you have never participated in the 350 rolling party a.k.a the ride across iowa, wearing a grateful dead jersey and in a sensimilla stupor? i am disappointed

Guido Ceramic

Womens race was a tough sprint with Kristin Lotito edging out 2 other very fast riders…the hot red head from NYVC and a newbie hot blonde from CRCA…

Dave Jordan

Thank you Alex Rodriquez (CRCA) for a flawless event today, despite the bitter cold…

We are trying to clean up the registration area. Park your bikes on the barriers near the Rambles parking area,

DO NOT RIDE on the PATHWAYS,

you can ride right in through the car driveways into and out of the Rambles parking lot.

Countless riders today from:
Organic Athlete, Foundation, Brauer/Mick, Overstock, Ashpalt Green, Peppo, NYVC, Adler, etc…and then there’s hanging out in the “jogger’s lanes”…Please keep the finishline area clear so the scorers can do their job.

Everyone should do something, especially in the last 300 meters, to help keep the race safe.

no reports that I heard of racing in the JL’s, and no crashes so that is very good…

Congratulations to the winning riders today, and anyone that didnt get frostbite!!! That was the coldest race in Central Park that I have been part of since 1987!!!

agree. wouldn’t mind waiting till April.
last weekend was ok, this weekend is a ridiculous.

Fucking hell is right. It was 90 minutes of misery. At least no one crashed on my stretch of the loop. That’s probably the last time I ever volunteer for a March marshaling date.

Still don’t get racing in March in the Northeast. It’s 27 degrees this morning with a wind chill of 19 degrees. What is the point of racing in that? I don’t feel so bad for the riders, its their choice, but must be fucking hell for the marshals to stand there for an hour and a half this morning.

In the P-1-2-3 Race @ Branchbrook, the top 3 were: #1 Gui Nelson – VanDessel, #2 Maurice Gahmino – VanDessel, #3 Stephan Dioslaki – METRA.
The temps at race time were a bone chilling 26 degrees at start time. It warmed up to a balmy 29 degrees by the time it was all over. It went down like this: Gui Nelson of VanDiessel took off literally right from the gun joined right away by Stephan Dioslaki of Metra. No one else joined them – and they drilled it. This held until when 35 minutes into the race a tactically beautiful move by Maurice Gamiho of VanDessel who jumped across solo and caught on to the 2. After solo bridging the gap, Maurice proceeded to take a MONSTER pulls. The trio opened up a HUGE gap on the field. They had a good mile on a chase group of three. It certainly did appear to this observer that the 3 breakaway-sters totally colluded and conspired during the breakaway…Seemingly in an agreement as Gui took the win, Maurice got 2nd & Dioslaki 3rd. In the chase group, it appeared that Durso ended up 4th and Mike Gorbet – Watchung got 5th. In the field sprint approx another mile back, it was Dan Sullivan who took (I think) 7th… Until next week (and man do I hope it’s going to be warmer!!!).

Baptiste Rivnut

the hot blondie from CRCA mentioned, is going to be one of the best this year!!!!, everybody can tell, form cat 3-4’s mens, to womans, she’s the next women champion, watch that!!, is a prophecy!! remember….LOL

Dumb racer!

He’ll upgrade to a 3 then do the 3/4’s and get shit for it anyways…..how come i don’t hear 3’s whining about sandbaggers? There’s plenty of 3’s with the points….

Mael Seattube

He has been lobbying CRCA to race in the A’s since before the season began. He’ll be an A soon enough.

Matteo Clamp

Awesome pictures, Victor. It’s a pleasure to have you come out and take pics as always. Will you be at prospect park tomorrow?

What team is Peppo? Or is Kyle being singled out here?

mr. Dave Jordan forgot to mention on his “countless rides in paths and joggers line” people from his “L-Raphael-leopard crew” that also were around the paths and joggers line at the finish lane….they should be mentioned mr, DJ….

Axel Downtube

Cut the guy some slack – he’s looking out for OUR best interests. Come on, look at the track record so far as President. In my view, the best first three months of any CRCA in the past 10 years at least.

Ilias Steerer

“the best first three months of any CRCA in the past 10 years at least.”

Really, do you have any idea how much Mike Green did (and continues to do) and with virtually no help from his board.

Locknut Supple

either way, dave jordan has had a tough first three months and done very well under the circumstances – i mean who would have guessed six months ago that the nypd would be ticketing red lights and setting up speed traps for cyclists. its been a wild ride.

Lorenzo Internal Routing

Hey – anyone know if there are any photos available for the Branch Brook race????????????????????

Carlos Martinez

Is this not the second time this happens to him? A bike switch then TT to the finish…hmmmm….good tactic…tto switch into a TT bike 8/ if indeed that happened.

Carlos Martine

Either way impressively pops off 11-12 riders(tough pro’s) off his wheel then pssing i believe Lars Boom(not sure)…omg. Awesomeness! Probobly got a more aero bike(saddle, bar, seat height etc.)….whatever the man was moving. I can’t imagine looking to the side and seeing that beast coming up next to you……

Alexander Bremer is the guy who bridged to the lead group and then bridged to the win, solo.

(better bridger than Kline if you ask me)
