Hangover 4/20/2009

In on the ‘Kill takers

The hotel workers of the Battenkill area are probably just now removing the traces of all the curious new scents of embrocation, soiled chamois and odd food stuffs that have embedded themselves into the rooms used by bike racers this weekend. So now is the time we follow up and see what the weekend’s racing has brought.

At Battenkill day one, Chad Beyer of BMC Racing Team wins the pro/1 race, while NYC’s own Evelyn Stevens of Radical Media gets a great win the pro 1/2/3 race. Enjoy a photo of her w in right here.

In the rainbow of races for the cat 3: Kyle Peppo of Jonathon Adler Racing wins the cat 3 green; with Robert Sheffield of Squardra Coppi/IM Saab winning the cat 3 blue race.

In the women’s 3/4 race, Fabienne Gerard of Teany wins.

In the masters 50+, Keving Haley of DKNY/Signature Cycles wins.

In the Cat 5 under 35, Christopher Leong of NYVC wins, while in the cat 5 35+ David Anthony of NYVC wins, with Mitchell Jacaruso of NYVC 2nd.

The CN servers have probably been overwhelmed by the tide of cat 4 color-coded results, so there are none to speak of, if you won please let us know. I’m talking to you, Alistair…

There are also many reports of crashes and mishaps, and we wish speedy recoveries to all involved, especially Tony Slokar of Adler and Doug O’Neil of Wonder Wheels who was taken to the hospital.

At the considerably less Homeric Cherry Blossom Challenge at Branch Brook Park, Jason Walters of Guardian Coaching wins the 123 race; Colleen Hayduk of Bicycling World wins the women’s 123; Eric Robertson of Kissena wins the cat 3/4; Jeffery Myers of Cycle Funatic wins the 4/5; David Bonser of Gotham Cyclists wins the 35-99 race; Gilbert Hatton of Team Alliance Environmental wins the 45-99 race; and Patrick Gellineau of Squiggle wins the 55-99 race. And if you want to have some fun, search through the results for the numbers of placings Patrick had on Sunday.

At the Spring Series TT, there were not only no fatalities, but the race was reported to be neither dangerous nor scary, perhaps even enjoyable – if TTs are your thing. No results yet, but the NYVC wheelsucker fountain of information brought forth the following:

It took a long time to sort out, so not a lot of people hung around until the end. Looked like Lisban won, with Ken Harris a really close second. Gary Steinberg placed in the masters putting the overall title just about out of reach.

In Sundays’ Battenkill Pro race Scott Nydam of BMC wins in a solo break that lasts over 175 k, making them 2 for 2 in the pro races over the weekend.

On Sunday, there was also the Rahway River park Crit – and that’s all I know as of now. I’m sure someone won, but there’s no internet evidence as of yet.

A little birdie sent these Spring Series TT results, I’m hoping they are accurate:

Alistair Siebert of Setanta won the Cat. 4 white field race, with Matt Richards of Pacifico getting third.

Anonymous

That must SUCK for the pro women out there who have been busting their asses to grab wins for several years. Evie has superhuman ability and just dominates in a short while. Amazing.

Anonymous

How many times do you need to write that? It was posted on here yesterday. Schmalz highlights it above. It’s an awesome result, but everytime she gets one, someone feels the need to remind us ad nauseum.

Just tell her congrats and move on. Congrats Evie.

schmalz

Then you can give us the over/under on how many times you can get congratulated, until then, please refrain from trying to set the quota for congratulatory comments.

brian g

I had the opportunity to race the Rahway Crit on Sunday morning. 1.1 mile loop on a buttersmooth newly paved closed road. The 4 field had about 30 guys in it.

I believe that Chris Forsyth(?) from Setanta placed third. There was also a rider from Luzzo’s there.

Small fields, well organized and fun.

I also raced the 4/5 race at Branchbrook and rushed home afterwards for this thing they call parenting. For those following the NJ 4th grade lacrosse scene, my son’s team beat Glen Ridge 8-6 after originally falling behind 3-0.

Anonymous

Tyler Hamilton tested positive and will retire! and holy sh_t I just heard Lance broke his collarbone anyone have more details?

Also, the CRCA should have a big ass charity party to watch the spring classics, maybe in a real Belgian bar!

Anonymous

Pretty lame to blast someone for posting repeated congratulatory comments. I mean, seriously: how cranky can you be? Did you call the New York Times after the 2008 Super Bowl and say, “Alright, alright, enough with the Giants — we get it, they won, move on.” You probably did not. Any half-decent shrink can tell you a jab like that reveals much more about the critic than the critiqued. And here’s an all-in bet that you’ve never won, and you’re jealous.

Besides that Evie win is some insane stuff! If you have a hard time getting repeatedly excited about that, well, man, we can’t help you. Turn in your bike.

Anonymous

You should tell your kid that unless he travels out of the area those results don’t mean anything.

Anonymous

Wait. The original poster didn’t write something congratulatory.

They wrote: “WINS the Women’s Pro/1/2/3 race!”

I agree with the person who called that out. Heap on the congrats, the adulation, the jokes, whatever, … but a simple restatement of fact (ok, they added an exclamation point) is pretty weak.

Half of the congratulatory posts on here are just team-mates trying to get their rider “press” and a mention.

Anonymous

“Half of the congratulatory posts on here are just team-mates trying to get their rider “press” and a mention.”

Uh its a message board on a bike race sit

What do you want, a Darfur news feed?

Anonymous

You know you’re doing well when the only people talking about you aren’t your friends and teammates

When a Cat 4 racer (or their teammate) self posts in a forest does it even make a sound?

Anonymous

has it ever occured to you snotty posters that the people you are talking about might also read these message boards, and that maybe the comments that sound so hilarious to you when you’re composing and posting might actually sound hostile and nasty to them? do you like the idea of making others feel bad? seriously, what’s the point of all the bile?
btw, evie is ridiculously gifted, has a great attitude, and works really hard. for those of you who love the “cat fight” idea, quit wasting your breath. you won’t find another CRCA woman on any team who has a bad thing to say about her. if we curse her it’s because she makes the racing really hurt.

Anonymous

“is this the off topic thread?”

No, this is the … 20 people who post on New York Velocity are waiting for the Cat 4 results and have nothing better to do thread.

Anonymous

Perhaps a caution sign or some heads up into that loose curved gravel descent might have alerted riders that the section was sketchy. Most had never ridden the course, and it came after a tough climb. A lot of riders washed out hitting that curve hot, missing the smoother apex and trying to catch back on to the select groups who got over the hill first.

Anonymous

Congrats to all who raced Battenkill as their first out of town race…and WON!!! Mich, David, Chris and Fabienne, you guys rock!

Anonymous

Schmalz/Andy,

For Cherry Blossom results you missed that Heidi Reijm of Kissena won the Womens 3/4 race with a six lap solo break. Way to go Heidi!

Anonymous

I would like to say kudos to all those who got smoked in the pro battenkill race. stellar results for locals, except empire, who is actually decent.

Anonymous

“to all those who got smoked…”

Wow. Is this some strange form of post-traumatic stress disorder? Please, get it checked out.

Anonymous

know when we’re scheduled to start obsessing about Bear?

I have weather, road conditions, screaming descents and possible sandbaggers on my short list here. Any help is appreciated.

Anonymous

but since I threw down my hard earned schekels for the TT on Sunday I was wondering if there were full results listed anywhere?

More curious to compare times between my pathetic cat 4 time and that of the cat 1 winner.

Anonymous

So I got dropped…but, I did get to ride most of last 2K (all but the 200m or so, including last turn and run-up to the line) with with the two leaders of the Pro/1 field (not on their wheels – like a CP Fred, mind you …although I could have since they they slowed to a snail’s pace) in anticipation of the sprint. Beyer was super cool, smooth and gave away nothing of his tactics or how he was feeling. Zirbel (who is about 2x his size btw) was clearly worried. I don’t know these guys, but I’m guessing that Zirbel knew he didn’t have the sprint to beat Beyer. Zirbel was in front and kept looking back and around and was “agitated” – I almost felt like that imposter in the yellow jersey who joined in on the finish of the TdF stage – it was a treat to see up close.

What did the final sprint look like – unfortunately, I missed that…

Anonymous

Is the Teany 4 rider who crashed near the front on that gravel downhill OK? I noticed the rider behind unclipping both legs preparing for impact? Sounded bad.

Anonymous

Does anyone know exactly happened? i was the guy who messed up his face.

Here is the my race report that I wrote on the maxpowercycling team blog:

Great racing weather in Cambridge by the time our race went off. The race was slow for the first hour but then picked up on each climbing/dirt section. Steve, Paul, and I were all riding strong. I kept making my way to the front for the climbs in hopes of a split in the field by the strong climbers.

Almost two hours in we were on a paved/gravel section riding along nicely. Out of no where this guy’s handlebars rammed straight into my legs and I hit the ground hard on my face.

The fun was just beginning….

Then I got dragged along the ground for 100-200 meters where I was repeatedly run over by people and my body continually turned about, scraping up asphalt. When I opened my eyes all I could see was the pack slowly drifting into the distance.

I sat up and spit out a huge wad of blood. I looked on the ground and I saw what I thought were my bloody teeth but they were only red jelly beans.

Then the pain came and came and came…I was in the ER for about 9 hrs where two of the hours were spent doing “scrubbing treatments”. Pretty much what they did was take a brilo pad and drag it across all the road rash on my arms, legs, and yes even my face to get all the dirt and rocks out.

So here is the tally:

My left hand is completely sliced and is wrapped up totally. All 5 fingers are cut up.

My left and right arm has road rash from my forearm to my tricep.

Left and right legs are completely covered in road rash.

My two front teeth are chipped/cracked.

My lip is hugely swollen and I have road rash on the right side of my face.

My bike is semi-ok. I think the frame is still in one piece. I’ll have to replace the front derailer, handlebars, and stem.

I think that’s all I can think right now.

Can’t wait to get on the bike again!

Hope everyone had a good race weekend.

Recovery? T – two weeks ??

Thanks so much to Paul and Steve who waited with me until help arrived. You guys are true teammates and I would do anything for the both of you.

This guy from the 30+ Battenkill lost his bike on the course, any help?

Anonymous

Perhaps Dieter can come up with an even more dangerous course next year. It just does not seem like enough people were injured on Saturday. Seriously, what the hell was he thinking putting twisting dirt downhill sections on a course that really was not hard enough to break up the 100+ fields until the final 15 miles.

Anonymous

That turn was pretty scary at speed. The guy in front of me started to slide sideways and luckily, cantilevered his bike MT Bike style to stay in control. If he’d gone down, I would have too as there was just no place to go except the trees.

Anonymous

was on a spectacularly non technical straight road. I didn’t find the course too dangerous. At least compared to Fawn Grove.

Anonymous

Too many 100plus fields, too many dangerous sections for a pack of 60 plus riders to hit at speed. Next year he needs to bring the race back to less fields (1 cat 3 and 4 etc) and keep the dirt sections to climbing mostly and flats. Last year a guy in the Cat3 (I think DC Racing) got messed up badly on a loose gravel dirt downhill and his teammate stayed with him. Same story.

Plus, seems like the numerous fields made scoring a nightmare (results are still not up) and it would be shame if guys and girls who drove hours for the race did not even get a result.

Anonymous

get over the course complaining. geez, what did you expect? you could have pulled out and and made a fun training ride out of it if you were peeing-in-your-pants scared. or, shocking, ridden at or near the front of the group and made your own lines, eh? some of us loved the insanity!

Anonymous

You’re right we all should “HTFU”…even though this race had more serious crashes resulting in very serious injuries because of poor course design we should all “HTFU’ because the reality is no one actually died so what’s the big deal, right?

Anonymous

sounds like the same whining from the crash etiquette argument hmm hard race, dirt roads, loose gravel….suffer pain….sounds great! sign me up so I can spend all of Monday morning whining about the bad choices someone else made. Losers.

Anonymous

Then dont race. Pull off the mini skirt and get some skills.

Seriously, try racing cross or mountain bikes and get some confidence.

Anonymous

I race Mtn XC and CX mostly. Does not matter how good of a bike handler you are, if there are too many big fields on a course with some technical dirt sections there will be a chance for big crashes. You could be Sven Nys and if some guy goes down 6 wheels up you may go down hard out of bad luck.

Anonymous

the argument is that it was a natural reaction to reach out and touch him as he was being pushed into the fence, but is it a natural reaction to grab and thrust another person in front of yourself?

Anonymous

The difference is, at least with cx, you’re riding in a pack for the first 100m and then everything goes single-file for an hour. Descending at 40+ mph on gravel and carving a turn at half that speed in cx are totally different skill sets.

I was terrified but loved every minute of it. See you in Cambridge next year.

Anonymous

If you’re coming into a dangerous spot, you’re allowed to slow down. You don’t have to roll potentially dangerous sections with too much speed. The course is what it is. The riders make it dangerous or not.

Anonymous

the course was fantastic and a bit dangerous. I loved it.
But I do feel like there were too many fields, it became seriously confusing at some point.

Anonymous

kudos to the race organizers, and especially course volunteers and the police for making intersections safe. i never saw one mishap there (traffic). they did a great job.

Anonymous

And they boosted my confidence when I would pass and they would shout, “Keep going, you’re the last rider on the course!”

Anonymous

course was great, except for the first feedzone, which was rather foolishly placed on a 30 mph drag. the descents at fitchburg and bear mountain are more dangerous than anything in battenkill.

the tough thing is balancing out the number of riders who want to do this race (and thus make it a financial success) with the ability to provide quality support. sucks to pay a big entry only to flat or whatever and then wind up lost in the shuffle of tons of racers from the various shattered fields.

Anonymous

Again, while you are free to discuss the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling (G.L.O.W.) – and I will admit, with a note of both nostalgiac excitement and chagrin, that I did pay a little too much attention to them on those Sunday mornings when my parents were not around, if you catch my drift – that territory is firmly in Mr Schmalz’s hands (so to speak), as he professed his own love for the Fabulous Moolah back in November of 2005:

“Gorgeous

By: schmalz (not verified)
Thu, 11/10/2005 – 20:00

Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling? Loved that Fabulous Moolah!”

(source: https://nyvelocity.com/content/features/2005/november-11-2005-chat)

Anonymous

If you have (constructive) comments about BR course just send Dieter a note – I am sure he will read all of them and make changes as needed. I don’t see why it has to be all or nothing. The Cro-Magnon, low brow-ridge among us would have you believe you’re soft if you suggest that the course maybe should not have had a screaming turn on the decents with such soft dirt – seems like a legit comment to race organizer. On the other hand, I don’t think anyone wants a race with dirt sections that don’t play any part in the race – I’ll bet Dieter could find a road that makes travel over dirt tough but where there is less risk of someone getting rammed by another rider at 35mph like Myerson did?

Anonymous

Misogynist assholes can say HTFU and “raise your mini skirts” all you want. Especially for an early season race mostly for amateurs with day jobs, no need for such dangerous descents with large fields on such iffy surfaces.

Anonymous

that the guys saying HTFU and musings about miniskirts were not there in the first place. They heard is was going to rain up there so they stayed in bed quivering!

Anonymous

then don’t race it and instead you can put on a big wheel race in the kiddie playground where everyone is safe and everyone’s a winner. wahhhh! cookies for the winner, yeah!

Anonymous

last year it was 89F and chalk dusty. i was hacking up dirt for 3hrs after the race. it was pretty awesome. or something. some sections were horrible. like riding a beach uphill. into a smoke machine. forever. more dirt climbing, tho, and thus harder overall.

this year we descended a number of dirt sections we’d climbed last year. they were harder going up last year. more climby. they were more technical going down. different skill set. if it hadn’t rained a bit it would have been far worse. many more crashes. i sat up on some of the sections and just stayed upright, particularly after seeing a guy a few wheels in front of me basically end up in a tree.

given a choice i’d prefer the harder uphill choice. but dirt is dirt and you gotta have skills to do well in this race. it always sucks to get hurt and i’m sorry folks did.

Anonymous

Did you guys read Dieter’s race preview? He warned people about the descents.

“even the downhill portions are work – they are technically demanding and can ruin the day of an inexperienced or tired rider. Stay focused. Taking a corner going downhill on dirt can get a bit nasty.”

“There are a few difficult spots to navigate that will test your nerve and your skill. Speed on a descent can easily be lost when you slam into a tree. Sharp technical drops and corners keep it tense.”

So there was ample warning.

That said, there could have been more of an effort to break things up before sending the whole field down those descents. It was MUCH easier to ride those up in the front. There were essentially only 2 good lines at any given time. In a field of 100, that means 50 riders going 2 by 2. That is just asking for a pileup.

Anonymous

Crashes are caused by dudes who for some reason would rather fall than slow down for a few seconds. I don’t get it. All courses have dangerous spots. But not all races have crashes. It’s usually the temperament of the riders that determines if there is a crash or not. Most amateur guys would do themselves and everyone around them a great service if they just rode smarter. I’m not talking MIT smart, I’m talking common sense smart. Like you wouldn’t step in front of a speeding bus, so why do the equivalent on a bike? Races are never won because you shave 3 seconds on a descent 30 miles from the finish, or cram yourself into a tiny gap in a crit with 20 laps to go. But the damage that often results from those careless maneuevers cost thousands of dollars in damage to bodies and bikes and hundreds of hours of wasted time in the sense of rehab. Don’t blame the promoter, blame the idiot tucking down a dirt road that he didn’t carefully scout out. If the course has some sketchy parts, be aware of it and adjust your ride accordingly.

Sometimes these risks need to be taken, such as during the final couple of laps in a crit or a field spring. In those cases, you will lose the race if you tap the brakes. In that situation, if you don’t have the skills or a reasonable chance of winning, then you have no business being in harms way in the first place. Go to the back and get out of the way. Especially amateur guys. Nothing worse than a guy with an overinflated ego crashing out a guy who’s trying to make a living on this stuff.

Anonymous

+1

Now everyone knows how “dangerous” battenkill is. If you don’t want to do it, stay home next year. Like you did this year.

Anonymous

Uh oh. I can already see some problems with these results. Poor Dieter … he must be fielding angry emails right now.

Anonymous

I guess the question I have for you is, did he beat you at Battenkill with no teammates? Wearing a nice kit doesn’t make you faster. ~Justin Brown

Anonymous

Nice guy, rides hard, climbs trees to rescue cats. Don’t disrespect his kit just because he beat you.

Anonymous

They also had some issues with the pace vehicles. I imagine it is difficult to recruit enough drivers who really know what they are doing when there are that many fields.

Times are subject to revision. They have the guy who started one minute ahead of me who I passed before the turnaround (and never saw again) beating me by 7 seconds. AVD said ‘oops’ sorry you were two minutes faster. That was more in keeping with what my stop watch said. So these may be revised a bit.

Anonymous

for her enthusiasm

But a 2 for the quality of the writing. It just wasn’t a good read.

And, yes, low quality for the CRCA site.

Anonymous

The team WORKED for her so she can upgrade…and then she left the team…who’s low? I am sure they are still friends off the bike.

Anonymous

“Too bad the only people who know how to do everything perfectly are busy posting anonymously on nyvelocity.”

Anonymous

People do what they think is best for themselves. Now I don’t know her, but I can’t imagine her move was an intention to throw Radical down the drain, but rather an attempt to try to do something better or different. To throw out such a public trashing of a old teammate is low and immature…..good luck getting new teammates when Evie goes to do the same!!!

Anonymous

She refers to Lynn Bessette as a ‘badass’ and calls her attack ‘pathetic’ in the same sentence. Aside from just being nonsensical, maybe she doesn’t realize that Bessette is retired and just races for fun now. It was a horrible read. Badly written, utterly lacking in humility.

Wrong use of the word but as “keep evie out of the wind” and “comfortable” are not contradictory. Should be “keep Evie out of the wind AND comfortable.”

Yeah, sentence diagramming on NYVC, bring it on! Check out the awkward use of predicates! Revel in the obscureness of direct objects!

Anonymous

This is lame.

Battenkill obviously was like a victorious one night stand, but finding out you slept with a transvestite.

Why is everyone so uptight? Easy, everyone who rode sucky is pissy, and everyone who did well didn’t have the results or the photos up to get them off.

Loosen up. Bear Mountain is coming up! You have a reason to live again.

“…and I’m like wholly pooh this race is forreals”
looks like someone should consider retaking 4th grade english.

Come on folks. You boys can talk shit all day long, but Maggie has a love of the game. When the women’s fields falls into a rut (which it tends to do), we can count on Maggie to shake it up. The girl is stong and knows how to throw down…and she’s cool to boot.

Anonymous

Maggie needs Evie to help her win the Bethel Series and she can barely finish Redlands. I wouldn’t call that shaking anything up. She is a regional level sprinter, that’s all.

Anonymous

radical rode a smart race. i hope adler allows this, because they did too.

this talk is fun if it leads to better, more aggressive racing. take it out on each other this weekend.

Anonymous

maggie signed her name to what she wrote, which is more than can be said for some of you. cowards.maggie is awesome, evie is awesome, they both love to race hard, and i bet neither one of them is on here trashing other people anonymously.

Anonymous

wow you guys are filled with pure hate!

does anyone know what is up with “bike snob NYC” written on the gotham/toga jerseys? does he sponsor their racing team?

Anonymous

Why all the crying over what Evie’s teammate wrote its her personal feelings.Do you cry when your Boss call you a A**clown for showing up to work. That’s his feelings that your a A**clown worker so go to your A**clown desk and type on NYVC about someone else comments.

P.s now who’s going to be the first A**clown to respond with a Negative Response.

Anonymous

and most of you race cat 3 or 4..not Pro 1 2…That’s what makes Mags awesome and you…well, you.

Anonymous

You guys are iDots. Maggie is also a retired pro racing for fun. She raced for Genesis-Scuba when they won the NRC women’s team rankings – in the process beating T-Mobile, Quark, and Rona – in 2004.

Anonymous

rather just the dreadful piece of writing that she put out and CRCA’s decision to post it on their website. Plus, Mags is a grown woman and she knows the way that things work around here. Anything and anybody is up for discussion. Including comments from anonymous, yet wise, posters.

Heck, over in Toto their speaking to a disgraced racer’s beloved dead dog. If they began to dropkick kittens off the GWB and I wouldn’t be surprised.

Plus, as stream of consciousness, tongue-in-cheek, irreverent writing it was still pretty poor.

deep breaths
dead pan
Stevie and Mags are very hot duo and how would I do their laundry anytime! Great Zen race read, great photos of how to have fun and win, doubt very much if LVG or the Great Lynnie Bessette were offended,
peepul, enjoy yourselves some more!
Thank you Radical Media!
slurpie me some good times (vicariously)

when someone says “iDot,” i laugh for seriously 45 minutes straight, pause to rest, and laugh some more. it is HILARIOUS.

Anonymous

in case you didn’t notice….as a women most fields are combined where all women race pro 1/2….3/4 so saying she’s special because she races pro 1/2 is rediculous because for the most part they all do

Anonymous

“The first 9miles or so was totally chill with radical setting a decent clip at the front to keep evie out of the wind but comfortable.”

Wrong use of the word but as “keep evie out of the wind” and “comfortable” are not contradictory. Should be “keep Evie out of the wind AND comfortable.”

Not necessarily, butt head. Her teammates were at the front, keeping her out of the wind, BUT, the pace was “a decent clip” meaning not so fast as to make her uncomfortable.

And someone can be an overall badass and still launch a pathetic attack. And why should everyone have to write with modesty? And why should a diary-style race report submitted within 24 hours be a literary masterpiece? Wholly pooh, some of you people are unreals. (My favorite sentence, too, by the way.)

To clarify, comment below (8:19) was in response to 20:10 and others trashing the women’s Battenkill report. I should have used html tags and time stamps. I’m just a sandbagging Cat 4 commenter, so I ask forgiveness in advance.

Anonymous

Several of the empire icons you guys emulate barely finished (or did not finish) redlands. Why hate on Maggie? She’s not trying to be anything but a doctor having fun.

Anonymous

that seemed like a really stupid crash for causing so much damage. you need to handle your bike better than that.

Anonymous

Its Mags…()()

Thought I would put some bad punctuation in there just so ya’ll would know it was me. In reading all the critique of my report, I just wanted to make one thing clear.

I totally respect Lynne Bessette, Laura Van Gilder, and Elena. They are amazing racers and women. I’m sorry if my report connoted any condescension. I am fully aware that Lynne is retired and just having fun. If she wasn’t I am sure she would not have been in the field very long. I hope it is with humility that I say that I noted that retired lynne still kicked my bum. As a matter of fact, all three kicked my bum. And I was so excited to try my “regional” sprint against Laura. I’m not quite sure how the report could have been so misinterpreted. Oh well.

Also, I will edit next time. hehe.

But forreals ya’ll are too much sometimes.

Anonymous

So why not leave the original race report up at CRCA, Mags? If you said it and meant it, why leave it up there? Let everyone else grow up…

Anonymous

NY Velocity should post Maggie’s original race report- NYVelocity has always been a bit more tabloid than crca.net

Anonymous

john loehner of empire IS a full time doctor and also medical director in a big hospital, who is just trying to have some fun.

AVD is doing such a great job promoting this race. The one suggestion I might have is……………..TELL US WHERE THE @#*% IT IS GOING TO BE! Maybe this is a new twist. First you have to find the race, then you can compete it. It’s a bike race and game show all rolled into one.
Hint number one- It’s in Brooklyn.
Hint number two- It’s on a runway.
Can I see what’s behind door number three?
So we have a runway and Brooklyn………….
Where is JFK?………no…..no…..
Okay maybe…..FBF then…. yeah yeah FBF.
Winner……..I think!
Now what do we have for the winner? We have a horribly paved six corner crit………with cone maked corners. Yes that’s right six times a lap you have a chance to hear “holdja line” while dodging little orange bullets ejected by those who can’t.
But that’s not all, we will also guarantee one flat tire and all the wind that you can handle.

I had a great time racing with David and Mitchell at Battenkill. They road well and in the last climb to advantage of the Junior in front of me to mount an attack! Could not catch them and I took Third! They are great racers and great people! We talked about exchanging info, but never did..If anyone can contact them I would be grateful.

What’s with the results from Battenkill? They have Sunday’s results up but took Saturday’s down a while ago!

Results were pulled back because they were all messed up…..I can only imagine how long it will take to revisit the video for each category to make sure results are accurate

Thanks to everyone for their patience and understanding while we worked through some technical issues. Instead of posting incorrect results, we decided to hold off until they were corrected in full.
