The Hangover 8/28/06

Section head text.

Thor Thor Thor Thor!!! Anything else happen over the weekend? Can you smell it? Thor now has more Grand Tour leader’s jerseys than Moreau, I would say that Moreau is weeping, but it’s just assumed at this point…

Mengoni

Nav’s dominate, but Devin Flaherty gets a nice 3rd. Peter Salon races well in nat’l champ jersey. It’s rumored that the Navigators don’t get to eat if they don’t win Mengoni. Dev will now return to college in sunny California to ride his bike and party, excuse me while I continue work on my “body swapping” machine.

Lipton’s on a roll, with wins at Mengoni (Caravella) and Thater (van Gilder). Cat Powers 2nd, and not surprisingly, Sarah top local.

Rashad! Nice going Roger Friedman and Craig Abrams as well. Rashad wins, and he’s a nice fellow. Do you understand or do I have to use a hammer to bring this point home?

Filip keeps winning. The only thing that’ll hold him back at Harriman are those junior gears.

Thater

Not much NY participation… Don’t be a player thater!

That’s it! Carrot Top is up next.

T-Shirt AND Calvert Toefield spot go to Tony Settel, for enthusiasm.

As far as Thater goes, Chris Chaput won the 4/5 race and Camie Cornely took 2nd in the women’s 3/4 race. Not sure of all names and placings but a few other New Yorkers also did pretty well.

Thater

Chris Chaput wins 3/4 at Thater – i am so happy for him.
Hard working and nicest guy out there – thanks for the rides to races mate 🙂
Lise Dupuis also 8th in women’s I think. She’ll be winning once the injury clears up.

Weel done to both and to Devon at Mengoni.

milestone

if you look at the url of this page you’ll see that this is the 1,000th article posted on nyvelocity. congratulations to the guys running this site.

schmalz

1,000 pages, NYVC is the "War and Peace" of dumb ass! Um, we’re not used to kind comments, so let’s just call me a jerk and get things back to normal.

DHR

The Clif Notes Version of the first 1000 pages of NYVelocity.com:

Butt!

May the next 1000 be at least as enlightening and entertaining as the first!

Andy

DHR, you forgot:

Poop!

By the way, according to Alexa, we turned 3 yesterday. I think that means the terrible 2’s are over.

Baldwin

I think that 1000 was also the number of days John F. Kennedy was President. So, Dan and Andy, congratulations and avoid grassy knolls.

travel problems

Due to the rain the cyclingnews news team flight from Bruselss was diverted to Pittsburgh on Friday night, and they couldn’t get to NYC in time for the race.

just a park race? I dont think so

5 navigators plus 5 targetraining, 2 Aerospace, 2 nerac and full squads from mengoni & anthem. And instead of a field w/ 50% cat 3, its all 1s and 2s. Think before speaking please.

Just Another park Race

Still just a training ride on the way to Thater.
Chris Thater’s NRC and gets NY State to cough up big money.
CRCA can’t even get a pothole or groove in the road fixed.

To Just Another Park Race

Whats your point dude? It was a race in the Park with a pretty strong field. Nobody is saying it’s on par with ANY NRC race let alone Thater. You are the only person on this site trying to compare an apple to a banana. So let the others have fun and please go back to your pathetic little existence.

By the way, did you do Thater? Did you finish? I doubt it.

the point is some people just have to complain

The level of racing varies. Mengoni is probably the highest level in town. It’s not NRC. So what. It’s still special.

Mengoni was a good event. There are a bunch of good events that CRCA (and Charlie I and Millie and Tony and Campo and Alan Atwood and others) put on and we should thank them for it, not rag on them just cause we can.

Yeah I mean come on

I have raced a fair amount of park races this summer….and last time i checked Mengoni was the best field I have been in in the NYC area, bottomline, I don’t think it was a walk in the park for anyone — if you think the Navigators were sandbagging and taking it easy then you are nuts. Eneas is too competitive — guy would sprint for 20 bucks. Bottomline — no cat 3’s, large field, and a lot of good riders who finished in the 30’s and 40’s…..to put that field on par with any other park race I did this summer is comedy. Kudos to mengoni race. Just wish it wasn’t pouring.

BRING BACK THE LOG IN

the people who comment on this site are VERY funny and that’s great..but 99% of the nasty, unnecessary gutless garbage is by people how dont post their names. Why are we providing them with a place to do this? Lets talk to face-to-face, or at least name-to-name. Praise jesus.

LaCorte

Why to go Dev… Nice racing kid… Let me know when you are going back to school. John, and now Pabalo, and I would like to go out for again before you leave. Later. See you possibly tonight, weather permitting…
