Courtney Trabon, 35, of Delray Beach, Florida, was the top woman, finishing an impressive 15th in the 34-49 heat with a time of 57:03. Asked her occupation, Trabon, who was only been riding for four years, answered, “I’m a cyclist. I’m actually here to try and find work in the cycling industry. I love to ride and want to try my hand at racing pro. I’ll work hard as a domestique, I just want a chance.”

A random fun link.

Mike Green has given us one spot in the fall Harriman men’s 4 race to give away. So if you got shut out, now’s your chance to get in. First person to identify this pro rider soon to appear in As the Toto Turns gets the spot. Here’s more of his face to help you guys out.

Thanks to Greg de Vitry for the use of this shot of the shameless ADM. Go to Greg’s site for all the TdC shots.

Great pictue of Armand Della Monica. Did he solo in for the RR win? Or were there some sprinters out of the camera shot? Details please.

ADM attacked on the steep bottom part of the 800m finishing climb, dropped the rest of the field, blew by one guy who had been dangling off the front, and had time to celebrate. Great win.

Gold-and-Blue V

I was skeptical of the wisdom of re-designing the CRCA clothing, but must admit it looks really good with the V. Represent Armand. REPRESENT!!

Armand took the RR by SEVERAL bike lengths! He was also very active on stage 3.
Capala was unbelievably aggressive throughout the entire event as well as Andy Gipp.
Zoltan was holding court nicely @ the road race and was in contention after stage 1 – no other Axis dudes for support though – maybe nxt yr.
Sakonnett really made the pro race exciting to watch. There were three or four riders off the front with about 20 sec. and when the field rolled by – I saw 4 Sakonnett dudes on point motoring the field at a crazy speed. They really made the Crit fun to watch as well. You could see the sacrificing unfolding and you knew they had the big picture in focus.
Ted Neu had an awesome TT display, which by the way, this course had everything. Rollers, snakey turns, deceptive risers and about 1.5k of flat, windless, smooth roadway leading up to the finish. A was a short 10mi. very technical technical course. I had more fun here than Owasco 05′ + it was only about 2.5hrs away.
The Amish community really gave the race character. I got the impression that they enjoyed the racing. Especially the little ones, which by the way, were the most well behaved children I’ve ever come across. They exude this quiet intelligence.
The Crit course was like a microcosm of the road course. There were lots of turns and such leading up to a really hard climb into a false then up a little bump into a corner. The course had an underpass also. There were lots of fast corners and a couple of tight ones.
A USCF official mentioned that Floyd’s parents were on in town to watch the crit!
It was really well run. You could tell the promoters put some thought into the course. It was just hard enough to make it worthy of being one of the best pocket stage races going and yet not over the top with difficulty. Each stage could stand on its own as a nice one day event – easily. I think I like the time format a little better than the points.

You try and do something nice, and see how far that gets you. Jo’B, just give me a name to give to Mike Green.

Interesting selection. I’d like to see how this guy is on the hills as well. He seems to have Prspk. pretty dialed in.

Crap. The polish guy from Lou Maltese (won the Cat 4). Thats just great. I rode with him on Sun for a while back from Nyack. Very nice guy, by the way. Just not at ALL a Cat 4 – hes a former pro racer from Poland, and very strong indeed. And yes, he can get up a hill just fine. Only reason he isnt a Cat 2 is that he just doesnt ride regularly anymore due to work schedule, but judging from Sun, he still gets out enough thank you very much. I hereby declare him as the favorite for the race. I wish I had half the strength and 1/10 his experience…

Oh, I forgot to add that you simply need to think Norbert O’Reilly (with a heavy Polish accent instead of Irish!) to understand this guy. Similar background, kinda same size, only around 10 years younger…

Right on

That is a great post by Lee3. Perfect review of the race courses, format, and results. Also, awesome that local guys Taylor, Capala win GC and with ADM there were three on the podium for GC. That says something about NYC guys.

The Cap Region RR turned out to be a challenging course, with a decent hill and one 15% wall that broke some legs.

Also, at the Collar City Crit the next day Tyler Matta was 2nd in the 4/5 race. He and a CBRC guy were away from the gun and built up about a minute over the pack.

The crit course was technical, with 7 corners and lots of crap to avoid in the road. But, a fun course that is a lot like the GMSR crit except no hill.
