Here’s our quick and sloppy recap:

Mmmm-kay, a good weekend to be a duck:

No CRCA race

No reports from Branch Brook yet

Spring Series contested by a small group of nutcases.

Please feel free to fill in the rest. It’s a lazy Monday.

Brian – is that you? Why so anonymous? You can post your own results here – that’s what the page is for.

"love the crash sequence…"
I think that’s the picture that set off a big debate about responsible photography on message board in china — you know places like beijingvelocity.cn and southchinavelo.com

Or at least the boards at sina.com

Some people said the photographer knew that a there was a big hole hidden by the puddle and was irresponsible to wait their for people to crash, rather than warning them.

Cat 2 Guy

I understand an 18 year old Cat 2 beat some Cat 1’s with "twitchy skillz & high heart races" at Branckbrook. Boy that sucks to be so close to "Pro" and get beat by a junior.

JT

I heard some guy (a 1 or 2 or 3 presumably) grumbling about having to race with 4s before the start of the prospect park race Sunday, saying he had a mortage and had to keep safe. Later saw him on the sidelines….and he wasn’t hurt.

Cat 2 Guy

Thank god he’s OK!!! I couldn’t imagine the horror of racing with 3’s, 4’s or (gasp) the 5’s.

(even though some of those guys are faster than local 1’s. Think Ken Harris…)

President Hu

The photographer who took that photo is being dealt with properly at this time. The distributors of these photographs may have similar fates…

Cat 2 Guy

We’ll see about KH. For a "lower" catagory racer he’s strong, that’s my point, and there are others like him. Experience & understanding race flow in the "upper" catagories makes a big difference in gaining results. It’s not always a last man standing hammersfest. I’m sure he’ll do fine. Just another wheel to follow, right?

Prospect Park

Wet in Brooklyn, There was no race your mistaken some cat 2 Axis rider beat like 20 cat 4 Wonder wheels and 10 cat 3 sony riders.

It just goes show master racing is for guys with no legs and pleanty of belly!

PP

Rashad

Raced the 3/4 Turtlepond Circuit Race and 4 NHIS Criterium up in New Hampshire. Did ok in Turtlepond and good in the crit. It was hard racing. Those boys up there know how to ride.

Fat Master

Funny Stuff Prospect. I think they’re only three cat 4’s on Wonderwheels. That race showed good tactics on Axis’ part cause the overall is between WW & Global. You should also know something about that Axis guy who won…he’s raced more high profile international races than you’ve read about. Peace out Hommie.

Brian

Schmalz I swear that is not me who wrote that anonymous post below. I wouldn’t exactly call that a Pro-4 race but it was definitely good training. I don’t know who’s post that is!

Brian

It took me like an hour to clean my bike! LOL I hope we don’t have alot of rainy weekends like two years ago.
Hats off to Peter Salon who broke away with 4 other riders in the Branchbrook Park Pro 1/2 race and won the sprint. I knew two years ago that this kid was going to turn some heads and make it to the Pros one day.

Branchbrook Race Report-victor

Ohhh, cold wet and sloppy…no, I’m not talking about your girl…tho I could be 🙂
Anyway, cat 4 field was too small: ~12 rain soaked fools and too short: <20 miles–does that even count for points?
All in all it was pretty uneventful. Some breaks that didn’t stick, some near crashes (such as the one provoked by the master strategist who decided to pin it on the inside to outside line around the ONE 90 degree turn in the deluge…ummm, guess you have to brake HARD in the wet to avoid the pack that took the OUTSIDE INSIDE OUT line. Sorry bud, take the path of least resistance with the rest of us.
So it comes down to the inevitable cat 4 sprint finish, and no one really winds it up too hard. I guess it was too wet and cold to get the guns firing. Still, good sloppy fun…like your girl 🙂
Should have posted anonymous–I guess.

Prospect Park

Fat Master, you sound like a wonder wheel making excusses for your 4’s oh I mean 3’s. Either way you should be embarassed that 1 Axis rider beat 20 you. Pick up your A game and defend your park (ME). Whats the point if you cant win in Brooklyn!

PP

PS Fat Ass!

Alan Atwood

There was no shortage of rain at West Point. 4 races in 2 days all in the rain. I hope that’s the last of that this year.

Yo Prospect...

You should be dissin’ Global also. They will win the SS Masters overall and not have a single stage win… even that punk from Texas feels the obligation to win at least one stage. Axis and WW each have 3 Stage wins

Prospect Park

It’s Interesting Fat Master your blaming Sony (a sprinters team) for riding like sprinters. And your blaming the lack of 50 pts for not pre reregistering for the entire race you know the rules, or are you as stupid as I am insinuating.

Then again I’m just a New York City park used for past time fun & Recreation.

PP

TGL/WW

Great race by Axis Sunday, well done. Just unbelievable that so many old guys showed up to race in that stuff. Who else got sick?

old guy

once the old guys have time alocated away from the wife and kids, it’s use it, or lose it.

ps; I slept in to the pater of raindrops on my window.

Fat Master

Stupid, eh?
Prospect, maybe you should re-read what I wrote. I never said a thing about 50pts or sprinters. Stop being a dumb park and go stab someone. I’m gonna eat a cake or something….

NY City Dept of Parks and Recreation

PP: note that WW is the official team of you and your bureaucratiic masters, the Parks Department, and WW are the Masters of the Parks in 2006. Note that already in 2006 WW has won multiple races in Central Park, Branchbrook Park and indeed on your own dull pavement.

PSSST NY City Dept of Parks and Recreation

hey nobody cares about your weekend warrior CP, Prospect park BB Park New Rochelle Park Harlem park Queens park, flatbush ave park wins. Those are called PRIDE points. but if you need to pat yourself on the back, go ahead.

Anonymous

Don’t know exactly who is trashing who here but I know I’ve never seen a Global rider in the top 10 at any significant regional race. SS masters has been a lot of fun this year.

Ken harris vs. Will Riffelmacher

Whos gonna take the win this weekend in the land of Mass. holes (sturbridge – Palmer)?

Ken Harris Vs. Riffelmacher

Neither — Peter Morgan will. And I gasp! The almightly Ken Harris, the poster boy of NY cycling is not throwing himself in teh 1/2/3 field…I thought he desperately wanted to be a cat 2…why not take the opportunity when given

To the Previous Post

Lets see… If I were a Cat 3 looking to upgrade which race would I do to try and get points… I think the only people desperate about upgrades are those looking to ween their field of the competition.

Thursday

Is it Friday yet? Can’t we still dwell on last weekend? You know weekend warriors? Out of Town races are for full-time cyclists. It’s still Wed. I get ahead of myself…

JT

Bob Clifford of Global/Sony won the Tour of Somerville in one of the older masters fields a few years ago and has podiumed at masters nationals, among other things. Juan Pimental doesn’t travel much but locally he won a prospect park p-1-2-3 in a big field sprint last year.

cat4

Wow, just realized Ken is doing the 3/4 Palmer race. I guess as a cat4 I shouldn’t expect too much from this race then. So, is Ken a marked man already? Is he going to take a flyer the first 5 miles???
