The Hangover 4/2/07

Section head text.

The Bandits make it two to one in the CRCA club races with JKIA taking the win over the Ugli One. Jonny wins in a break in the CRCA women’s race, and would not stop smiling. Hello? Winning is grim, ugly suffering – you’re going to ruin it with all that fun. Morras wins the Spring Series – he should upgrade to, well…um, nevermind. And The Quiet Man has won 3 straight Spring Series races – and I’m not going to tell you who he is. Aspholm wins at Branch Brook – sun also rises. Not a whole lot of NY results at Bethel, Ugli 4th (3/4), Slokar 3rd (4).

The Empire/Star Wars metaphors have grown very tiresome.

I only know this as I saw the pictures, because I have been hampered again with another viral malady.

Besides deleting “outings” of our wind tunnel prank (which was done with very advanced miniatures), my weekend was spent shivering, sweating, coughing and explaining that “daddy is too tired to dance to the ‘High School Musical’ soundtrack.” And you thought having to cover Ken Harris’ attacks was hard…

Hey Someone

What are you doing quoting pop lyrics here? Don’t you know you’re supposed to be organizing that race for us? You know the one, that is close to the city so we don’t have to rent cars or beg rides, doesn’t start at the crack of dawn, has a great prize list, is good for upgrades, has plenty of spots in each field (and additonal fields when Cat 4s fill up), and has a selective course — but not too selective so us wheelsuckers don’t get dropped too soon. You should get cracking on that, because we’re expecting you to get this done. Oh yeah, and don’t charge too much because we don’t want you making money off of doing this.

From Someone

You say I am evil / You know that I’m stupid
I don’t appear given / And I don’t appear lucid
Yet I give you all
The truth is / I give you everything

Captain Ed

Loved the wind tunnel prank! And, yes, I was totally duped, but then I’m a bike racer. High IQ is not part of the package.

It’s okay for you to say what you want from me. I believe that’s the only way for me to be.
Exactly what you want me to be.

What kind of sorry-ass negativity is that post about? Not even in ref to anything clear at all. Go home jerk… Can we be a little nicer pleeeeease?

Anonymous

I belived in it, out of hope. Hope that my sorry cat 4 ass could for once get away with some wind tunnel time.

Anonymous

the people who aren’t laughing were either taken in completely and wonder why that elusive "Somebody" hasn’t built them a homemade windtunnel so they can see marginal improvements in the TT times, or have no sense of humor to begin with.

I look forward to "Somebody" taking on the challege for these lazy suckers who won’t build their own windtunnels.

Definitely just you, Mecray. You’re bonafide hard if you’ll miss those crevasses–or a bonafide nut case.

How’s your season shaping up so far?

Hey Andy – Not really – just assuming we’ll all have new crevasses to deal with shortly…

Season is going fine thank you – no great results yet, but some solid training races to date. Trying to forget "touching the floor" at Branchbrook…

Had a great time at Kirkwood out in Amish country last sat – what a great place to race! Saw some NYCrs like most of Empire, R. Pilcher of Kissena (who beat me by like 2 ft!), a few Mengoni guys and a lone Sakonnet rider out there… Def headed back for next races – more fun and better setting than Spring Series…and decent distances too…

Chris M

Is it just me, or is anybody else going to sort of miss the trusty and long established CP cracks and holes that are such a reliable aspect of riding in the park? Now we’ll have to re-learn the whole ride and keep our eyes open when we roll unless they do a flawless blacktop resurface…

I wanna know about the butterknife

That was stuck in the pavement near the top of 110th St Hill.

Where did that go.

Signed,

Bumming

They are paving the park in two stages. The west side this week and the east side next week. The park is supposed to be usable this weekend, but who knows. They were supposed to start tearing up the road yesterday, but only started today.

I believe we’ll be looking @ 2 weeks – It should be ready by the nxt club race. I guess the April 8 Spring Series will race with crappy CpK sections. Potentially a Battenkill starter kit.

yes, you’re stupid — not everyone is on as fast a connection as you. I have a slow connection and some sites still come up fast. Some come up slow. That’s reality. Thought the owners would want to know.

99% of the time this site (which has lots of content) comes in instantly.

there are plenty of potential bottlenecks. this is a great site and well designed too, so stfu.

off subj….

Central Pk. is gettin riiiiiipppped as we type. If you value your paint job, cover up your downtube.

I could run this site on my macbook over a wireless conection a hell of lot faster then you can apparently serve up your pages.

Stop being cheap and fix your shit.

Wanker!

internet

I can barely handle the nyvelocity home page (which is 1MB of stuff). An entire megabyte for a hompage!

So no way am I even looking into cyclingtv

The setting are worthless if the server is over-loaded. I can run 3 separate systems with 5 different browsers on two different machines. Wireless and hard wired connections. So I have options.

I always set and reset the datarate. The reason why I suspect that the servers are overtaxed is that the datarate drops precipitously as the races get closer to the finish (and more people are apt to be tuned in).

lee3

Dan,
This corrected all of my Cycling.tv (slideshow problems):

Hi Lee
Please use Firefox IE and Flip4Mac media player to get the best picture. Please choose the datarate for the Live races in the Live Events tab, and the settings tab for the on demand content, switch around to find the best one for your set up.

TH

uh, well, because last time i checked spending some time in a wind tunnel (even if it was made out of plywood and potentially life ending) wasn’t against the rules.

wind tunnel prank?

this tops the virtual CRCA race game.

Also if you were enticed to put your entire body in a tight wood box with a metal fan and motor hooked up by andy and ride on rollers next to the fan, to possibly take a few seconds off your TT time, what wouldn’t you put in your body to give you an even better chance to become a much better all around rider.

Baldwin

I can’t stand the fat guy always plugging the high-bandwith option in the premium channel, if you go there right now and buy it, and then connect it to your plasma projection screen.

Or the dour Scottish guy always shouting out to his homies in Pennsyltucky.

Hear, hear. I always thought it it was because I was on a Mac browser until I tried it in Windows and it was just as bad.

schmalz

On a completely different note, I am right now mentally e-stabbing cycling.tv. Great idea – running the footage of euro TV, except for their circus servers. Can they just download thier previous races to itunes instead of streaming? If I have to see the beginning of E3 again I will go nuts!

And don’t tell me it’s my equipment! It’s not! Trust me on that one! Buy some bandwidth or go the download route!
