Hopeful Fridays 4/7/06

Section head text.

In our never ending quest for ways to make you do our work for us, we present our latest weekly feature – Hopeful Fridays, the good twin of the Monday Hangover. Because hope springs eternal on Friday, before we’ve had our hats handed to us over the weekend.

Post your predictions for the weekend, talk some ill-advised smack, tell us where you’re racing, and most importantly, anonymously tell us who’s getting dropped.

“Sure he’s cute, and he loves bikes, but I’m sure he’s at least 20 ounces heavier in real life.”

CRCA Team cup for the A’s. Ken Cottage Harris, marked man? Will we see another powerhouse break like two weeks ago? Are Loehner, Alessio racing? Will Mihael add to his list of stupid things? Sprint finish or breakaway?

Team cup for the women as well. Caryl Gale keeps getting into breaks. Someone tell her she’s a sprinter. Is Hannah Long racing? Surely CC won’t take 5 of the top 6 spots again?

Will the A field overflow race in Prospect or take their frustrations out on the B’s? Will mini Thor spank them anyway? or will he lead out Ugli? Will the plucky NYVC’s take out a podium spot? Will King, Accardi, and Harris join forces to thwart the Adler juggernaut?

Spring Series Pollo’s due, right? Or will it be Edwin again? Will the Masters leaders be at CP?

TargeTraining TT If I told you who was racing, picking would be all too simple.

Bethel Aspholm and Harris again? Heather LaBance has started racing…

Bawm Chicka Bawm Bawm shirt for best predictions. If you want to predict a crash for yourself to get this lovely shirt we won’t stand in your way.

B. Cool

Adler doesn’t have a Juggernaut, they have an imported Euro-ringer and a bunch of me-too lackeys. Give the Viking-Prince an A-field number and we’ll see who emerges as the dominant B-squad. If mini-Thor is man enough to de-skirt and ask for the upgrade, my money’s on Edgemont to emerge as the B-pack leaders. Until then, it’ll be all Kim, all the time.

Jay F.

We’re trying to get Kim the upgrade – let’s see if the powers that be at CRCA can come through for us.

Uglietta, Collins and Jamie are representing in Philly this weekend. Abrams is representing at Sea Otter. The me-too lackeys will either be out racing or nursing their injuries/illnesses.

Anyhow, B. Cool, why don’t you identify yourself and let’s have a little wager on Jonathan Adler Racing or Edgemont taking the B-cup? And please be a little more circumspect about showing your ignorance on the boards.

Goody

Edgemont-Adler? Metro holds the cup and will easily defend. I hope Kim races in the Bs. Sure, the guy has won a couple of early season races by being tactatical(and strong), but the triple will NOT happen tomorrow.

JT

"Where do teams go after the races?"

Harriman nice and steady, or just Rockland Lake if we’re a little tired.

If Ken Harris is ever to upgrade, he should abandon that idea of killing locals and start going to "races". He has a great upgrade oportunity at Seaford this weekend. Or will it be another ego booster at CP?

Steve

Champ Sys are gunning for Chris Jones at Bethel.

Also have a strong compliment at Philly for two days.

Look for Chris Chaput in the 3/4 with 3 supporting players – including myself – still blindly believing in racing as training.

The women have about 5 racing strongly and we also have 3 or 4 going in the 1/2/3 including Tommy B and Ray.

And my wife is sooo happy that I’ll be away for the weekend!

B. Cool

I’m just saying that I think Edgemont is a group of strong riders who seem to realize that wearing the same kits means occasional TEAMWORK is appropriate. I mean look at the others. Foundation is the club-within-a-club. I doubt they even know each other’s names. The Pastel Posse? C’mon, when was the last time they did anything in the B’s? 2004? Metro’s win last year was the result of one or two guys carrying the whole team. And I’m using the word "team" rather loosely there. VB should win more, but they just don’t. All that wasted horsepower makes you feel kinda sorry for them. The sun has set on the British Empire. And let’s not start on the NYVC rejects. The team for riders no one else wanted. They’ll only be a factor in the number wrecks they cause this season.

And as for Adler sans-Kim, face it Jay, the glory days will be over. You’ll just be another group of bike geeks in ambiguosly-gay kits. ‘Nuff said.

Edgemont's skeleton in the closet

Synergy Bike Fit has openings on the team for next season. We are a smaller developmental team of Cat 5s and 4s with a focus on group training rides, CRCA races and a few targeted regional races. This is a good team for newer racers or for experienced riders looking for a more relaxed team. We had a good season this year with several top 10 placings. Get involved now and help with the planning process for sponsorships and kits. If you are interested, please contact:

Huh?? I don’t get it.

I’m pretty sure B.Cool is not on Edgemont. I know all the guys pretty well, and none of us is that smart.

B. Cool Admirer

B. Cool, the master of subtlety….

…and probably a damn good bike racer, based on his posts and deep insights.

B. Cool

I never claimed to be on Edgemont. In fact, I never mentioned my team at all. I was just speaking my mind.

B. Honest

You obviously understand professional responsibility and recognize the damage that your comments may have on you, your team, and its corporate sponsors. Show your name and you risk someone challenging your man hood or lack there of.

Mihael

I’m going to stay the party line and pick the big dog, and teammate, Allesio for the "A" win.

I will also hedge my chances, for one of those lovely gay T-shits, by saying I think Allesio will crash. I hope you have XS, I like it fitted.

wondering, why is Adler a juggernaut? are they not a "B" team?

Jorge Hauser

Okay, option poll: Is Thomas Voeckler a pimp daddy? Or is Jens Voigt just that bad a tactictioner? My thinking, and being German, I feel a kindred with Jens, he thought he was in a breakaway with Mick Jagger and he knows Mick ain’t a sprinter. That could also have to do with the fact that Jens kicked it to Thomas after the finish!

Andy

Hey Mihael, why can’t you spell your teammate’s name? Are you finishing the race, or are you going to be doing another verbal leadout? I’m putting up your special banner now.

Please flame me back.

Jorge Hauser

This is like supposed to be the chat but longer and more painstaking, right? Gin and Tonic please!

Mihael

Andy, I always miss spell everything, so don’t bother correcting me. Live with, I do, It’s not so bad.

I will once again be giving a verbal lead out, that is if it does not rain.

The banner, I like it. Yes, I am in love with Alessio, (spelled it right, happy). As a matter of fact I started a new work out, pulling my mini-van on a slight down hill. Pulling it up hill like Ant, is way too hard. I can feel my sprint getting stronger.

lee3

Who’s signing up for Owasco 06′? It will be harder than 05′ and "oh yes…..there will be blood"

TS

Chris Jones in Bethel

Acton and Settel in the 1-2 and 35+ Target TT, if they show.

Maybe EB on Sun in Seaford

Alessio in the A race

Doug Oneil in 35+ on Sun.

Pollo in PP on Sat.

Morel in CP on Sun.

JT in the Stateline sprint on the way to Harriman after Sunday’s race

JG

Jens definately thought he could take it easily. Poor jens got out sprinted by the little frenchman would could. Voekler didn’t just sit back on his wheel, he did his share of the work and came out strong to the line. Jens took him a little too lightly.

Hey B. cool

Why are the Bs so condescending so one another? Its almost like they feel if they are not strong then at least the are good bike handlers or expert tacticians, or so they often decide for themselves. Get over it your a freakin B fer Christ sakes.

And Ill guarantee you that you will be beat by at least two of the NYVC squad and you should be thankful that, instead of looking down their noses at the newer riders, NYVC is trying to help the beginners learn some race skills. From what I heard they are improving well.

Seymour Butts

You guys make the B field seem like the home of the winy bitch. Just ride your bikes, win some races and let the numbers speak for themselves. Get over yourselves.
