Until Killington

The upcoming Memorial Day weekend may mean an extra day off for fun and family activities for most Americans, but for bike racers it means traveling long distance for toil and glory. Let’s investigate those upcoming opportunities.

Starting tonight is the beginning of Jersey Kermesse season with the Manville Madness race. The rest of the weekend is filled with Jersey events culminating in the 72 year old Tour of Somerville, info on all the events is here.

From Saturday to Monday there’s the Killington Stage Race in Killington, VT.

Locally on Saturday morning there’s the W.S. United Tour of New York at FBF.

Also nearby on Saturday is the Super Saturday Circuit Race at Branch Brook Park in Newark, NJ.

Tour of Ny

How do you Tour New York at the FBF criterium race? Come on folks stop exaggerating, Floyd Bennett Field race is a criterium, it is not a Stage Race, so you can’t call it tour of anything, it is not even a fondo. A better name would be “Wind and Mosquito Crit”

How many stages make up a tour?

Anybody doing the Tour of Harlem this year?

Lucas Bearing

you do it by swinging a leg over your top tube, clipping in, racing your bike and having fun. because that’s what this is all about, not anonymously posting snarky comments on a message board and bashing promoters use of sarcasm in naming their races.

Crit in Stafford Springs, CT (Exit 70 on I-84).

Stay cool folks, it’s going to be a hot & humid one this weekend.

Greg Avon called one of his races in Prospect Tour of New York and I didn’t hear anyone making sarcastic remarks. Get a life Tour of Ny!

Tour of New Your is actually correct. Back in 1852 the Dutch bought that land and called it Your. You have to remember that back then FBF was a big distance from New York City. So instead of calling it New York, they called it New Your. So, although it’s not a big area, it is technically the Tour of New Your and the promoter is correct. Although this Tour is a circuit, it is essentially a tour of the area, hence Tour of New Your. On this Tour, you will pass the historically significant swamp bay area of New Your, home to the City’s largest concentration of mosquitos. If you are lucky and get crashed out, you will be able to see a sample of the unique flora, Toxicodendron Radicans, that thrives in this area. If you look hard enough, you will be able to see the fauna as well, Rattus Norvegicus, which thrives not only in this area, but in all of NYC. Last but not least, instead of beautiful butterflies, on occasion you will find the even lovelier Eurycotis Floridana which sometimes finds itself fluttering around amidst the peloton.

Cheers and good racing fellas!

the tour is getting there, you see the people of the world riding from Manhattan to the other end of Brooklyn.

Just curious, how many people both 4/5 and 123 actually came out for Rockleigh yesterday. Kind of a last minute race anouncement.

Jonas Lorica

10 or so for the b race, maybe 13-15 in the a’s. Dylan Lowe won the A race solo, some montclair bikery, kissena, and nyvelocity dude went 123 from a break in the bs.

Bull – Can’t believe you’d take the story seriously – this is NY Velocity afterall. LOL!

Those fluttering fellas are nothing more than American cockroaches, not palmetto bugs. Why we new yorkers call them waterbugs is a mystery. probably renamed by landlords or realtors.

Rockleigh series begins next Thursday the 31st. This race was a warm up so people can get used to the course. An added bonus for those who come on Thursday will be the hotties from Tibco will be racing in the 123s. Last year these girls made most of the men look pretty weak, as they controlled the race and had two riders in a break that stayed away.

Random Name

What is the prize money for Rockleigh? I have to decide whether to Turk that or race the wind at FBF thursday nights.

Hanging fruit

I think the prize money typically goes to the top 3 places each race and winner gets around $35. I t may have changed, check the website and facebook page.
