Emerge ye hermits

Rejoice lycra donners! The official beginning of bike racing season is upon us, and there are a multitude of quasi-frigid racing options to be found in the New York Area.

On Saturday, there’s a CRCA Club Race in Central Park. There’s also a Branchbrook race on Saturday morning.

On Sunday morning, Central Park gets another working over with a Spring Series Race, and then there’s the cherry on top of the weekend athletic sundae, the succinctly named Outdoor Sport Center Bethel Spring Series – Ronde de Bethel.

If you can do all four races that means you: are in the CRCA, have access to a car, and live a chaste, hermit-like existence that eschews human contact.

Floyd Bennett Field was just re-opened to the public about a week ago, although I think that the North 40 runway (the wide long one) is still closed.

yeah – me. But only because of the economy and the recent sequestration thing that Obama pulled. (Brian’s a super cool guy…glad he nailed it two for two…he’s gonna be a marked man!)

Do people even do the spring series anymore? Wasn’t everyone really upset about how it was run? I think it was the race where the Moto and a field if racers went through a bunch of bodies all over the ground. Can we revisit that link?

24 signed up for the whole series 104 for Sunday, there will be at about 50 more day of registrants. Not a bad for loops in the park at 6am in 30 degrees.

I am disappointed that the races were well run today. What will there be to bitch about. Beside, I guess, the weather.

I was not at the Spring Series race today, but would still like to complain about the lack of organization, slow and inaccurate results reporting and general incompetence shown by the race promoter; the motos are obviously incompetent boobs. The whole thing is a fiasco and I don’t understand why anyone goes to these races and, for those that do, why they insist on complaining when they should know what to expect by now.

I would also like to request that the powers that be, whomever and wherever they are, give all these races to Charlie I. so that they can be run in an efficient and satisfying manner. (I would also like to preemptively complain that Charlie’s races are too expensive and that he is obviously taking advantage of us.)

I will add that maybe I should try running one of these races myself and see how it goes; that the race promoter is trying his best and that I should feel lucky to have these races and that I am a miserable and whiny lycra-clad type A for whom nothing is good enough, except my $10,000 racing bike.

By the way, how did Adler race today?
