It’s a shame about Ray

There are races scheduled to occur in the area this weekend, but with Hurricane Irene moseying her way up to New York, those best laid plans may be subject to cancellation. Can you believe we’re going to have a hurricane and an earthquake in the same week here in NYC? I’m sure we must be doing something to anger the weather—my guess? Too many pizza places with the name "Ray" in them. Raypent! Before it’s too late!

If you want to be guaranteed a bike race to attend, you may have to drive to Binghamton, NY for the Chris Thater Memorial races. On a tangent, if you shove the words "Chris" and "Thater" together in your web address with no spaces, it really looks like something Tipper Gore would’ve been really upset by back in her "playing Ozzie records backwards" days.

The CRCA club championship race is scheduled for Sunday, but there’s a good chance that isn’t going to happen.

And since everyone else is doing it—Irene is currently a cat three storm, but plans to upgrade after Green Mountain.

CRCA race on Sunday is cancelled.

Irene

Actually I put in for my upgrade after the damage I did in the Bahamas but Eric Ragot said that didn’t count – he would only look at damage done in the US; so I was denied.

Irene 2

I leveled 100 homes in Florida but they only reported 40 homes destroyed to USA Cycling so Eric Ragot said he couldn’t give me the maximum points.

Irene 3

I’m still waiting for AVD to provide results from the races he ran… as are many, but that’s not news is it.

If you guys were real cyclists, you wouldn’t be worrying about Irene. You’d be in Colorado, at least. (Spain outta’ your league).

one of the FinKraft riders told me that he fractured a vertebra but no spinal cord damage….very lucky.

Sunday

….this race is similar to all those criteriums that are held right after the tour – winner is usually predetermined – just a feel good opportunity for U.S. teams (i.e. RadioShack) with major international players just making an appearance…

The Euro riders enjoyed their paid cycling holiday in the states. Some looked like they actually broke a sweat. Either way it was great tv coverage, lotsa fans, good times. Hope the race grows.

everywhere, cleanup in everyway…but those joggers gotta keep on…not one good samaritan among them…I helped out where I could, moving branches into piles, sweeping leaves, and in Riverside Park too….good luck getting your “workout” in…

Cyclists in general are a God-less lot and these women in particular are all going straight to hell – just their immodesty alone punches their ticket. And, lo, the winner rides for Team Forno d’Assolo! Anyone need a translation? That should be a men’s team.

Give up on the bikes, NYC. God didn’t invent the combustion engine for nothin’.

No Hangover, No Toto… I’m bored… gonna have to do some work today…… Can someone post at least something controversial to get a pointless discussion going!?!?!?!

GMSR was touch and go there for a while. Looks like it is back on with modified circuit and RR. Word is RR will still finish on ApGap, but will be very different course up until that point.

Axel Brazeon

Was operated on this past Monday. He has 5 fractured vertebrae, including fractures which required removal of pieces of the vertabrae and pins/screws to hold them together. Also significant spinal cord swelling.
According to his wife they are happy and lucky he has movement in all limbs. Please wish them well.

We all know Roger is a fighter and will come back stronger, best wishes to him and his family.

mehhh.
But rapha Rendevous app for the Iphone could turn out to be pretty awesome and a community builder if people were to use it.
Search rapha in the App Store.

Rapha Rendezvous App was designed by & for people who don’t know how to, you know, talk to someone in person. So this is what our world is coming to?

Orson Wells

can you use that Rapha thing to see where the field is in a given race and how much time the break has on the field? That would be pretty cool – so I know how much I’m losing by…

Tibo Cogset

don’t you want your friends tracking your moves? I can see a serious privacy issue with this app. sad part is that so many other apps also do the same thing.

JohnVeloBlake

it would be nice to use in order to coordinate end point based rides with local strangers in case you want company or motivation or competition for rides that your team or usual buddies don’t do. I haven’t used the app so I’m not fully aware of how it works, but I think it would be cool to have a Nyack group, a bear mountain group. a montauk (or other LI hotspot) group, and people can still organize larger group workouts or learn new routes.
I personally can’t work as hard or consistently alone. so someone like me would benefit greatly from having that community around.

I fully agree with you for the most part federico, but I think you’re jumping to a cynical POV too soon.
