Hey Dog

This weekend’s racing choices are pretty limited, there’s a CRCA Club Race for the master’s crowd and there the New York Capitol Region Road Race. And that’s pretty much it. You’d think I wouldn’t be able to make any smart-alecky remarks about those races, but I can—Andy Shen is a wiener. Wow, I’m really off my game.

Cutty, he obviously knows you have one, thats why he said “applying your english degree” not “Applying FOR an english degree”
you are all legs, no brains, too bad your legs suck too 🙂

Franco Lube

i think he meant applying (as in making use of) the English degree he had already earned, not applying “for” an English degree.

Look in the mirror before you accuse someone of not being very smart

YOU GUYS NEED TO WORK ON YOUR READING COMP. He obviously meant apply not apply FOR. HAHAHA DUMBASS

NJ State Criterium Championships Masters 35+ category race write-up:

MAN!! That was a tough course!! Picture a miniature version of Prospect Park. Make it only a 1 mile loop. Make the hill a bit steeper. Also, throw in a false flat, 6 corners and some wind (thankfully the rain held off until after the race was completely over). There you’ve got it. Morristown NJ. It was a healthy sized field of around 60 to 70 guys. As the race began, the heat and humidity levels were high…everything stayed together – but only for 1st lap. Then on lap 2, Dioslaki of Metra Cycles 54 jumped hard on the base of the hill opening up a gap. No one cared to join him, thinking it was too early. Coming on the downhill, his gap opened wider though. He held a solo breakaway for 2 plus solid laps. Meanwhile a strong chase group of 7 guys formed behind. Leading in to the 3rd lap, Dioslaki settled in for some rest as the chase group latched on. Now the combo was perfect. The breakaway had both strength and representation by most of the teams. The group of 8 included John Durso & Steve Ward both of Colavita, Neal Stoekel of Undici / Guardian, Mark Light of Liberty Corner and Dioslaki of Metra / Cycles 54. The gap remained at a consistent distance ahead of a splintering main field behind. The break was being driven mostly by Dioslaki, Durso and Ward. Intermittent pulls were taken by Stoekel and Light while the other 4 were basically clinging and hanging on for dear life. With around 5 to go, the main field was nowhere in sight and Dioslaki & Durso were throwing down some heavy artillery attacks trying to shed the spare luggage. But to no avail, all of the 8 continued to hold on. Down to the last lap, going into the second to last stretch which was a long, false flat, the pace slowed. Then suddenly it was Stoekel of Undici springing into action. Dioslaki immediately jumped onto his wheel. At a high pace, Dioslaki accelerated ahead and threw it all down into the last hard left turn before the ¼ mile uphill finishing sprint. Immediately out of that 90 degree bend, Dioslaki began his sprint and never looked back. That gave him precisely what he was hoping to get. Mark Light was gaining but not enough to overtake the sudden burst by Dioslaki out of that final turn.
So it ended up being:
Stephan Dioslaki of Metra / Cycles 54 in 1st place
Mark Light of Liberty in a close 2nd
John Durso of Colavita (and winner of the NYC Lucerreli Castaldi Cup) in 3rd
Steve Ward in 4th.

Same venue, Same place…and generally same time next week will be the Sr Open 1-2-3 NJ State Criterium Championships.

John D won the 45+ with Gerry M of Brauer 2nd. Good weekend for Gerry as he collected the 50+ CRCA gig on Saturday. Similar story as the 35+ but those two almost lapped the field. FWIW, really nice course but not a classic crit. Larry T of Liberty took third.
