Hopeful Friday 9/28/07

Section head text.

We’re back after a quick trip to Vegas, we were able to talk to many people and look at many, many bike related products. I’ve slept about 3 hours in the last two days, so I’m not really going to investigate too deeply into the races this weekend – I do know that Mihael will be honing his laziness skillz at the CRCA club race. If there are any other races, just let me know.

Also, Andy and I got married in Vegas by mistake. The room video check out is very complicated.

Magnus also took a vow, a vow of sleevelessness.

Any pictures of Joao taking 2nd in the TradeShow Crit?

They broadcasted the race on WCSN.com

He was off the front 3 times alone..stayed away the last time to take 2nd, but definitely the most aggressive in the race. Bob Roll didn’t do such a bad job on his name either.

Let the hate begin

Are they out there looking for pro level sponsorship? Good ride by the guys out there.

I’m almost afraid to say the “E” word in fear that someone will take that as an opportunity to flame them.

Race is next weekend to end the season. Any comments on the course. Looks flat and windy. Any hills to watch out for in the Pro1-3?

Staying anon so he doesn't grind my bones to make his bread

Doesn’t Magnus look a lot like the lead singer from Midnight Oil?

McCormack won last year but this year the South Hampton GP Cross Race is going on both days. He may not be there for the Race Monday.

I regret to announce that tomorrow’s CRCA race has been cancelled. There are unfortunately
several other events scheduled in the park. These include a large field of runners who, we
learned this morning, will be crossing the West Drive during our race — a potentially
dangerous situation which would have required us to stop and then restage all fields midway
through.

The parks department is extremely apologetic about the conflict, and has tentatively given us
a make-up date of Sunday, October 14th. As soon as we know for sure we will post the
specifics here and on the CRCA web site, http://www.crca.net.

Sorry for the bad news. Please inform teammates and club members.

a short (harlem hill-ish) climb before a sharp 90 deg left turn, then downhill to a short flat finish. otherwise pretty flat.
one very rough section of pavement, but mostly nice roads and a beautiful course

Your worst winer....start the hate

I wanna race. I waited all week….there is nothing else out there for me to get my fix……are you kidding me……please tell me this is a joke….I didn’t see it posted on CRCA.net yet…….

looks like bike racing in NYC is being marginalized. Lots of keen racers just no power, no people on the city council, not enough cash to put it in the back pocket of an official. Could the oldest club in America be in its death throws?

MH

No thanks due to me. I just announced it. Ken’s the one who sorted out the situation and is trying to get us a make-up date.

Sorry all for the late notice.

but are there really lots of events in the park tommorow between 6am and 8am. Hard to believe these “events” start before 8am.

But I’m sure it’s called something else. Do you think the directors of the CRCA invented a conflict? Or are the Parks Dept. people being misled by the RRs? And do you think the people involved are so inept that can’t properly examine the circumstances? Are you from Missouri?

during races or carrying highly flammable liquids in our jersey pockets so crashes were more exciting, we might gain more popularity with the general public and clout.

maybe people can come up with reasons to blame this one on tony s and ken again. i can believe they are allowing themselves to be marginalized….in bed.

Jeanson affirmed Thursday that her first experience with EPO came in 1998 at the hands of Dr. Maurice Duquette, a Montreal orthopedic surgeon who initially injected her with the drug, supposedly to treat anemia.

After complaining of exhaustion, Jeanson was told she had two options: either take a season off to rejuvenate, or use EPO to boost her red-blood-cell count. She chose the latter, but with the help and encouragement of her father, Yves Jeanson and her coach, Andr

Conflict: Glouster GP of Cross=New England World Championships. Better not hold a park race on that weekend if you want anyone to show up.

everyone needs to go to the UCI cross race in the hamptons on the 6th & 7th. Erwin Vervecken is gonna be there. How many of you have gotten to race WITH a world champion?

Anonymous

i raced with a world champion up the west side bike path just this afternoon — at least he had the world champion jersey……and a basket on his bike

marty nothstein used to come to NYC and whoop on locals pretty much all the time. How many times can you race against an Olympic champ?

Captain Ed

Any of you NYC guys doin’ the Tour de Parc? I’ll be packin’ four guys into the mini-van and headin’ north (we get a lot of practice at that type of thing during blueberry season, what with the farm labor
economy down here).

…one more jackass. I’m just trying to see if the race is happening since I don’t see any registered participants – after contacting Bike Reg is appears the promoter opted not to display registered participants – seem like he’s cut from the same cloth as you. Thanks moron.

try looking

So– to learn if the race is happening, you posted a question to a group of wise-assed cyclists, and contacted the online registration service– both of which are not directly involved with running the event. But you didn’t contact the promoter.
And I’m a moron?!

Anonymous

…..I did contact the promoter – that is why you now can see registered participants on bike reg….Moron.
