The spigot for fall stage races has been shut off and the last road races of the season are upon us. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t a variety of races out there for racers to use to fluff up their self-esteem.
Â
You may not have heard, but they have bike races occasionally in Prospect Park. You can experience one for yourself at the final Cadence Cup Prospect Park Series race on Saturday. Stay late to collect your prizes for the overall GC.
Â
Sunday brings the Nancy Morgenstern TT Festival – a day of timed suffering to remember a great person. And if you feel like traveling a little to get a race in, you can head south in Jersey to Hammonton to the Blueberry Circuit Race. But do it quickly – race opportunities are going fast!
Â
too long, didn’t read.
don’t forget about the bear creek cross race in Macungie, PA!
anyone upgrade?
Whats up with Van Dessel this year? They have it on the NJBR schedule along with the WWV cross but neither are up on bike reg and they are 1-2 weeks away. I need some local cross races to get ready for the big ones in Oct-Nov.
I upgraded my water bottles to the insulated type for the winter.
anyone win a race?
there’s always a winner

Can a non-sprinter win in PP?
Yeah, it’s called a breakaway. Meet me in the front quarter on the third lap, I’ll be the dude taking off without looking back…
Can I join too?
you’ll get chased down by a WS United guy
more likely you’ll be the dude dragging the field around for half a lap til he gets tired
There’s a bunch of races on the NJBA calendar with no links to registration. Westwood, Deer Park, Augusta, Beacon, NJ State Champs, Van Dessel. If the promoters want people to show up they need to get the registration pages up… there’s a ton of other races on the schedule this season!!
We’re working on getting at least one race within the Boroughs by December… stay tuned.

great crit
In PP this is true. With luck the right mix will form and the slow pedalling will begin as the field settles with the fact that there will be no fieldsprint. That’s when we’ll shine…
Double points and some teams 5+ deep. Unless they’ve got a man up there it isn’t happening.

“With luck the right mix will form and the slow pedalling will begin”
Um…which part didn’t you get Mr. Glasshalfempty?
None of those CX races are happening this year.

Thanks Sunshine
to Ugli?
DOUBLE POINTS!? that changes the whole dynamic… i’m staying home, this is just gonna be too intense.
I’ll tell you you’re a pussy. Stay your bitch ass at home
I got the word that Van Dessel is likely a no for this year – 1 week away. Not sure about WWV cross. Seems like PA, CT and MA will be the best place as always for cross racing. NJ seems to be a bust this year with the exception of Mercer and Beacon. I do hope NJ State Champs is a go – that course was a blast last year…
At least we have Whitmores in November!
jed-jg get a room
“With luck the right mix will form and the slow pedalling will begin as the field settles with the fact that there will be no fieldsprint. That’s when we’ll shine…”
And then your alarm clock rings….
nice
..and you realize some guy has charged up in the rec lane along with his team and he’s sprinting like a drunk driver. And then the following week he’s calling you a pussy. And you press snooze.
How about all the local coaches get together for a head to head race. They can each pick 4 cat 3 clients to ride with as teammates. Winner takes all. Do it.
Could the coaches sit at home an analyze power files in real time?
OK cut to the chase. Who is currently the fastest coach?
Here is a tentative schedule for the NJ CX races for this fall. There may be an addition or two but these races should all be firm dates. looks like no van Dessel and no Craigmeir this year.
10-4-08 Westwood CX
10-5-08 Hillbilly Hustle
10-11-08 Deer Path CX
11-2-08 possibly Walstib CX
11-8-08 Beacon CX
11-9-08 Highland Park CX
11-15-08 USGP Mercer
11-16-08 USGP Mercer
11-22-08 Sussex CX
11-29-08 NJ CX State Championships
12-7-08 Phillipsburg Riverfront Cross
No question – Roger A of WWV. Then maybe Chad Butts.
I have an erection that has lasted for more than 4 hours.
Fast coach and fast clients. Is there a correlation?
myerson
When I told you to massage your legs I meant only the left and right ones!
who won? who wrecked?
It looks like all the guys worried about which old guys would upgrade are getting their wish.
Wet and Slippery…….
BVF rode strong.. They also had 9 riders supporting the pink jersey. There was another team there in white (4 riders) that also rode hard. Stefan and Mikel from Cadence rode well. Kissena had a presence at the front also. Patton from NYVC continued his strong riding to bridge gaps and push the pace on the backside of the park… Crash in the final sprint, WS and NYVC went down…. Result’s????
Is the season over yet?

Thanks to all the marshals, pacers, officials and Cadence Cycling for supporting our races.
Charlie Issendorf
Race Director
Kissena Cycling Club
He is a 3 now isnt he? Why is he racing 4s? That is a DQ if so…
“BVF rode strong.. in white (4 riders) that also rode hard … Stefan and Mikel from Cadence rode well … Kissena had a presence at the front also.”
If all of these teams were riding so strong, how did they let the finish become a cluster*uck? Pulling the pack along at 26.2mph for 9 laps is all well and good but it doesn’t excuse a 27mph lead-out. Put your numbers to work guys!
What would Rod, Stewart, and Gordon say? All for one, and …

um, that’s Bryan, Rod, and Sting.
