Racing racing racing

It will be another busy weekend of racing in the city and beyond. Saturday has the Cadence Prospect Park Series in, well, Prospect Park, of course. For the funny helmet crowd, Saturday also has the Silvermine Time Trial at Tuxedo Park, NY.

Sunday has the CRCA holding its Masters (40+) championship in Central Park. along with a combined A/B and B/C fields. There will also be a women’s field. Sunday also has the New York State Crit Championship in Glens Falls, NY.

This race is an absolute blast, with beer and BBQ at the finish. At
two 20 mile loops, it’s also a great workout. Fast course, lots of
single track, rollers and not that technical. Plenty of roadies and CX
racers show up for this one.

Not doped. Sastre’s time on Alpe De Huez is a full 2 minutes slower than some of the slower doped up times recorded by Pantani, Armstrong, etc…

Honestly, do you really think its a fair comparison to make vs other times up the Alp? No way. Different year, diff competitive circumstance, and of course different ride up to that point. These guys just did 2 large peaks before the Alp, and you wanna compare it to a TT time and diff stages in diff years? Thats just nuts. If Sastre knew through comms with the DS that he was minutes ahead of the chase, the urgency to put 100% in is reduced a touch, even if just a psych edge type of diff – quite diff from TTs and other stages. Enough said. He could have been doped still, quite easily.

i wrote the sastre post. just seeing if anyone read this board anymore. really dead since it went beta.

I think its more the aug late season doldrums than the new site. Nobody wants to even think about riding right now, methinks.

i was *almost* selected as an adler domestique this season, until they caught me on a CP ride once with my neuvation wheels and performance sunglasses. they showed me the door not too soon afterwards.

of course it was an exquisite, handcrafted Honduran mahogany door with custom bronze hardware, so i was still pretty grateful for the experience.

I am not mentally burnt at all, but the legs are stuffed and aren’t responding to the workouts. What to do? I am willing to put in the work, and want to race, but legs aren’t cooperating.

I’m on my 2nd Neuvation R28 Aero rear wheel and the damned things won’t stay true no matter what! I only weigh about 180lbs and I’ve alreaady gotten a factory replacement from them that also sucked. Not nearly as nice as my performance glasses.

The new route for Silvermine was fantastic, very tough for sure. I counted like 6 fat roller, climbs on my SRM and the last 2 minute pitch about 3miles from the line was a gut buster at speed.

Those guys at Westwood run a class event without hiccups and timely results. The results were up before I cooled down and rolled back to my car. And, i wa son my way home before the rain…suckkkas.

The CRCA gangs though stole the show, winning lots of stuff up and down the board. Anyone know where we can find results online?

great race.

Andy

Yep, nice course. Nice smooth road, very little traffic. Hit 47mph on the fast downhill but not a problem on that road. Really well run event by the Westwood guys.

JG

One of the coolest events this year. Most fun on a bike I have had in years. Great job to everyone who helped out in the feed pits, and those who participated and finished. Great event on many levels.
