Hopeful Friday 6/2/06

Section head text.

In our never ending quest for ways to make you do our work for us, we present our latest weekly feature – Hopeful Fridays, the good twin of the Monday Hangover. Because hope springs eternal on Friday, before we’ve had our hats handed to us over the weekend.

Post your predictions for the weekend, talk some ill-advised smack, tell us where you’re racing, and most importantly, anonymously tell us who’s getting dropped.

So you get slapped a couple of times, doesn’t mean you stop attacking.

What? Friday already? Caught with our pants down? We’re seriously slacking off.

ESG Qualifier

Rain, big puddle…

CRCA Club Race

Team cup for A’s: Loehner, Motor, Auth and Orville Riffelmacher one-two… Ted Neu riding breaks well at Floyd… Ricky Lowe returns… Alessio getting support from Gabe Lloyd? Pick against Axis at your own peril?

Team cup for Women: Laughing ladies…

B: Adler the biggest of the medium sized dogs now? What’s up with Edgemont these days?

NJ TT

Westwood guys: Aspholm, Kimball, Goldman. Who will take out of state bragging rights, Boronow, Bremer, or Settel?

Bawm Chicka Bow Wow shirt for best prediction.

B race: if it comes down to a field sprint, look for Ugly as the top contender. Otherwise, look for Ben Harris, Aaron Wolfe, Andy Collins and other such characters to try and get away.

B's

Look for a few overflow A’s to mix it up – anyone in a Blue Ribbon or Axis jersey should be watched.

A’s – Molloy or Loehner to do the old 1 /2 punch.

sprinters

the probability of a field sprint is very very low. have fun chasing all of the breaks, and when you get there dont expect to sit on like you do in the field. cause no one is gonna tow you around!!!!

Dead Horse

This feature is getting pretty old and tired! Same nominations every week, same idiocy as well. The rest of the site has grown so much, and there’s so much good content, that this feels weak. Set up a forum for those who like to trash talk, but this is definitely not front page material.

Littlefield

A Race: Meet the new boss, same as the old boss (Ricky)
B Race: Despite ML’s best efforts, it comes to a sprint and J. Brown wins.
W Race: Sauvayre (So there!)

ESG: Someone with over 100k miles in their legs, like Zoltan, Molloy or Settel.

TT: I dunno, Aspholm I guess, safety answer.

"The Buffalo needs some food."

smack talk

the fastest man in NYC will be making his return to the crca, but will ricky even place? do all all those watts and no results still make him the fastest man as you all voted a year ago? we will see

AA, will he show his class and do a late bridge to a break or will he let his team cover all of the attacks and tow the field around? or will the speedy Cook take a late flyer

Axis, will they screw it up? they have it all be have blown it in the past. look for one of the dark horses from the super squdra, rather than the usual.

Evil Mat Howard, will he still be just another nice guy, who is too nice to win despite his nick name

Harris Sherry and the ML crew. Without a doubt we know what they will do. they are almost gauranteed a podium if they do it.

Auth ?? wood ?? there are too many wild cards to mention

Sakonnet…. word has it that they are flying in the botero and griteriez just to beat Axis.

to dead horse

So your answer to this being a boring page is to set up another page to do the same stuff?

Advice

Users of steroids may suffer from paranoid jealousy, extreme irritability, delusions, and impaired judgment stemming from feelings of invincibility.

Dead Horse

Clearly people like this banter, so give them a place to do it. But "take it outside," so to speak. Having this front and center cheapens the site.

Observer

Hey Dead Horse, no comments about Dog humping Cat cheapening the site? What are your standards, exactly?

shaw

i thought we liked this site cause it was cheap.

my predictions – rain and if i race, lots of worthless bridging/bridge attempts.

who races the ESG? is it going to range from cat 1’s to cat 4’s all mixed up?

ESQ

This is only dangerous if not a smart rider. Almost all the crashes there are from inexperience and guys being where they shouldn’t be or trying to do things they normally wouldn’t. If your smart you know what to watch out for and you know you don’t need to be fighting for position in the first 5, 10, even 15 laps.

TS

TT – Roger in the 123, Troy in the 40+, Sonke in the out of state 1-2-3. Settel in the out of state masters.
ESG – Bremer. He will be in the final break that goes closer to the end of the race. Sonke will be there, too – if he races.
A – Ricky
B – Shawn Marvel
W – Gale

Hudson Valley ESG

I recently moved to Westchester and will attempt to qualify for the Hudson Valley team. If the Gods are on my side and I happen to qualify, that will surely help the NYC team. mihael

I also predict one or more of the Sleepy Hollow triplets will qualify.

JC

The big problem always was that the people winning never went.
It is a – Qualifyer – and there is a reason for its length.
It actually was longer.

PROSPECT PARK

My Puddle is full of Poo.

If your thinking you want to the ESQ, remember a night of rain causes my drain at the bottom shoot to get back up with sewer poo.

CENTRAL PARK

If you were a REAL park, you wouldn’t have that problem. Girl, you’ll always be second-rate, at best. Come see me shine on Sunday morning.

Rain, rain, go away

What’s the word on cancelling the qualifiers? Will they still hold it tomorrow if the road is flooded? (heh, hardly an IF with this downpour!)

towelie

so, you have to log in but you can still invent your own name?

this site has made me feel as if my commentary is welcome, even sought-after, everywhere–when I read cyclingnews or the Times, etc. and something pisses me off, I immediately scroll down to the bottom as if I can just punch in my ridiculous two cents. I couldn’t find anywhere to rattle off an anonymous, ranting tirade (at least, one that would appear immediately on the same page) on the times the other day and got all flustered.
