Hopeful Friday 3/20/2009

Panic!

Much like a three dog night, we have a three race weekend coming up. Branch Brook has Saturday to itself, while Bethel and the Spring Series have to share Sunday-wait! Hold on! It’s snowing out! This must be the end of days! Pardon me,I have to go burn some incense and airbrush the side of a van!

I am hopeful that Anthony might actually get the results from last week up before this week’s race.
Seriously, WTF?

Anonymous

For real. WTF is up with this snow!?!? I got dressed to go out and ride and stupidly didn’t open the window shade to see what was going on out there. GAH!!!!

Anonymous

the heck with snow and cold. i rode indoors on the trainer while wearing my snuggy and drinking hot cocoa.

results were posted the day of the next race in the Spring Series. When you registered on the day, you casually checked where you placed and your overall. Try to focus on the process of racing, and winning a “stage”. Stop hasslin and trifflin and complaining about results that don’t matter…race and finish and train some more, repeat until you peak…there are no specialist race courses around here so go find some form and use when you do have it…

it’s flurries, not a snowstorm.

55 saturday, 58 sunday in the forecast.

god can keep his dick. although, what a sexist thing to say!
maybe god has a chocho instead.

Anonymous

God does not have a dick. And if he did, then you are the result of it. You are a “walking dick”. GO away

Back in the old days there was no internet, and no video camera fed right unto a laptop computer. Atwood, Charlie I and Kissena get their results posted here before most riders even make it back home from the race. AVD should do the same, there is no excuse for AVD to not have the results a week later.

Should I start the “It’s only a training series and doesn’t count for shit” argument… again?

If the Astana camp split for the Tour…Lance with his bastardness and Alberto with his pride..who in the sqiad will side with Lance and who is Alberto…Or will Johan control it? interesting to see

did you see the french took a hair sample from armstrong-maybe they’re onto something. now that would be interesting

Neil Bezdek Takes Pro, 1, 2, 3 Win and Inches closer to Overall Leader Robertson.

March 15, 3009 — “Every One ate Their Wheaties”

This year 2009 New York City Spring Bicycle Racing Series has become the battle of the fittest. And everyone is fit. March 15 became the “oh no you don’t” race. The riders in all categories kept trying to breakaway but the pack continued to make it groupo Compacto. The speeds and the fitness seem to be amazing the riders. With a lot of riders being amazed at their own fitness. Those winter training workouts must work.

The Pro, 1, 2, 3 field yoyo’d their way through the 30 mile course. They played the best escape and catch game. In the end you have Neil Bezdek — Kissena snatching the win just ahead of Central Parks most winningest racer Wilson Vasquez — Champion System Racing/Cycles Gladiator Wine. When we added the numbers up Gavin Robertson — We Stand United continues his reign as Overall leader with Neil right behind him. And as it stands these two spin-doctors are the only two in their race that have placed in all three events. We have to wonder if these captains of the finish will end the series with a placing in every race.

When it comes to being the master of the masters Gary Steinberg — Global Locate has these men by the short hairs. Gary has broken away from the pack in the masters’ series competition, by over 80 points. His closest competition is Jeff Cline — Krebs East End Cycles. Gary can be the first master since Bernard McGary to take away the Overall lead by the end of the Series.

The “Come to Papi Award” goes go to Miguelangel Blanco — SpinCity.com. His talents as a bicycle racer makes coming in second, a bad day. Miguelangel is determined to come back on March 22 to claim his rightful place as number one. Although as fit as racers are this year the day to day winner is still a crap shoot and only time will tell if Mr. Blanco will beat his category 3-4 competitors in to submission.

This Sunday, March 22, Central Park will be the venue for this week’s battle. We Stand United, still has their racer in the Yellow and Green Leaders jersey. But we have others inching up the ladder looking to snatch it right off their backs. But the overall battle will be great, because We Stand United looks to be fit and ready for battle. The 2009 Spring Series is shaping up to be a series of racers coming to battle. The riders who come are the gladiators who come to race. “Moon light or sunshine, we come to Ride or flat for my team” may be the credo tattooed on their chamois.

Exciting is the only thing we can call it. After three weeks the series already has some DOMINANT racers, I hear the phone ringing for challengers let’s hope someone answers.

Race day registration is still available.

I’m sorry but Filip needs to upgrade. He has been winning 3/4 races for years now. Can someone explain why he has not been upgraded. He must have over 200 points.

Anonymous

If you don’t like the guy and his races don’t show up. Stay the F*#@k home and ride. OR you can put the race on yourself and see if you can do better. We all invite you to try.

Anonymous

Races As in College. Should be a cat 2 by points but maybe he does not want to go up. I will be a 3 for life because I dont have the talent and/or time to train for Cat1-2 races out of town. So I race the Cat1-3s and Masters. Not everyone wants to race Cat1-2. Is he ruining your experience in the race?

There will always be guys faster than you. Dont worry about them cause they aint worryin about you.

Capala family are gracious and super nice people! They beam with pride when people come up & talk to ’em about Filip, which I did while at Grant’s tomb.

To the a@@ clown that is complaining, go win something yourself or even better, shut the hell up. What a ridiculous comment. You’ve probably never even ridden with or spoken with the guy or his family. Unbelievable.

I never raced against him because…hold on, because I was always racing higher categories. I made the comment because the kid wins everything and he should be, of course this is only one opinon, is that he could be possibly be getting better. Maybe he is, fine. I also never said I didn’t like him or his family, I’m sure they are great people and I know they very supportive of him and the sport. He just seems to have a lot of talent and it would be a shame to see him stop progressing. The P/1/2 races are probably safer as well and he would learn more tactics because not always the strongest wins.

Again, I never said I hated him and I have also never raced against him so settle down.

Hincapie does the setup indirect leadout, Haussler jumps early trying to get Cav boxed in, but Cav is able to bust open thru a tiny hole that should have been closed by Hushovd, and then that hesistation the gap between HH and Cav is open but also Thor can’t then match Cav…

The drag race begins, if Haussler rides anything close to a straight line he wins…but fatigue overwhelms one pedal to long…

Cav is amazing in bike handling to stay up front of the group, jump thru the hole that really wasn’t there, and then even with 10m deficit is able to win! Such was the force of the acceleration there is a 2 sec gap to the group with a tailwind!

Incredibile!!!

Colin P.

congrats (or, congrads in NYVCish) on a nice win! Shirley Temples for the Gotham Juniors are on you tonight 😉

Tony Slokar won off the front in a fast and aggressive race today. Nice win! Many guys tried to bridge and they all failed (including me). Fun windy race.

BTW – nice FGX kits. They were at the race today.
