Section head text.
For those with any mightiness left, there’s the Tour de Parc on Saturday, and the Pete Senia Memorial on Sunday.
The Westwood Velo Cross race is on Sunday in Mahwah, NJ. If you prefer the dirty stuff, head on over.
That’s about it, almost time to hibernate.
Saturday and Sunday in Southampton! It’s a UCI event and Erwin Vervecken will be there!!!!
You guys should really come this weekend if for nothing else to party you @sses off. Cross riders love to be heckled and cheered, especially by drunk people 🙂
Oh yeah, almost forgot; Jonathan Adler will be there, and they will ride a smart race.

The CRCA Board hopes to hold a Club Race on 10/14, but can not do so unless 15 additional club members volunteer to marshal BEFORE 5PM TODAY. There will not be a race on 10/14 unless we have the necessary marshals confirmed today.
The Board negotiated another Central Park race date for 10/14 to replace the cancelled race on 9/29. The biggest challenge to hosting this race is ensuring we can get enough marshals on such short notice to meet the minimum requirement set by the Parks Dept. Please email me by 5PM today (christopher.uglietta @ ubs.com) if you would like to support the club and volunteer your services to marshal. We need about 15 more volunteers – so please sign up and bring a friend, teammate or spouse! Both the Boyd and B Team Challenge are still up for grabs!
If you would like to marshal, please email me directly so I can put you on the list for 10/14. christopher.uglietta @ ubs.com
1 down, 14 to go…

4 down, 11 to go…
why aren’t the marshalls from 9/29 marshalling?
Maybe they had other plans for the long weekend? Better question is why the CRCA didn’t send an email requesting marshals. It isn’t exactly like the CRCA is constantly spamming its members, so I can’t imagine there’d be a bunch of complaints if they did.
why is the 14th a long weekend?
I’m a retard and excited about this weekend? Anyway, the point that people might have other plans is still valid.
Southampton cross is going to be awesome….
Love those Vanderkittens. Unfortunately, the underwear section is the only area on their site that isn’t live…yet. I will keep checking
Landis decision #4
As a professional scientist who has been working in a strict Quality Assurance (QA) environment for the past 27 years, I am continually discouraged by the general public’s overall lack of understanding of science and the scientific process. Lest anyone be confused, the Landis decision was not about proving that Floyd had taken exogenous testosterone. What the majority of the panel was concerned with was whether or not the lab had followed the procedures they had established to detect exogenous testosterone. They apparently considered the scientific validity of those procedures to be outside the scope of their investigation, and it was certainly outside their area of expertise.
The unrefuted testimony of Dr. Amory, the only real scientific expert on testosterone to testify, was that those procedures were not adequate to establish the presence of exogenous testosterone. You will note that the majority opinion does not refer to Dr. Amory’s testimony – there is no way to reconcile it with the verdict they wanted to reach. So Floyd was found guilty on the basis of one WADA-accredited lab’s flawed procedures, procedures that wouldn’t even be accepted by other WADA-accredited labs. (For those who have been asleep through this farce, the French lab accepts the presence of elevated levels of a single exogenous testosterone metabolite as evidence of doping, while the US lab at UCLA requires the presence of three.) As Dr. Amory pointed out, exogenous testosterone metabolizes in a defined way, with the levels of metabolites rising and falling through time in a certain pattern. The analyses performed by the French lab of the entire set of Floyd’s samples did not show the pattern that would be present if Floyd had, in fact, doped. Dr. Amory’s opinion was that they made no sense at all.
Floyd was found guilty through a political process with no basis in science. WADA and the UCI are on a witch hunt, and Floyd was unfortunate enough to fall into their cross-hairs. I’m all for catching dopers and throwing them out of the peloton, but the tests must be scientifically valid and be performed by neutral, qualified analysts, not by a lab eager to break (or is that “make”?) the news for l’Equipe. Some form of equal protection under the law would be nice too, such as all WADA-accredited labs having the same criteria for what constitutes an adverse analytical finding. And since Floyd apparently passed all the same tests Oscar Pereiro and Andreas Kl
Floyd,
That wasn’t flax seed oil.
Marion.
I’m sure Rick B. is an accomplished scientist. I am certainly not. But Floyd doped. We know he did. Just like Rasmusen. And Kashechkin. And Ulrich. And Heras. And Tyler. And Basso. And Zabel. And Vino. And Millar. And Mayo. And Aldag. And Andreu. And Museeuw. And Brochard. And Frigo. And Garzelli. And Aitor Gonzalez. And Jaksche. And Kessler. And Moreau. And Riis. And Pantani. And Zulle. And these are just the guys I could think of off the top of my head.
We don’t need to put the scientists on trial. We need to throw out the cheaters.
Was Amory hired by the defense? What about all the other guys who testified? Were NONE of them scientists? Are you serious? Even if the lab was crap, which it probably isnt, I dont see how the process is just wrong simply because its different from some other standard applied by a specific US lab. Something is fishy here. I dont see how the French lab is so patently unscientific, yet all of Europe relies on it seemingly for such testing. Nah. Dont believe it, pal. Where is NM anyway? This is NYC. Why post here? You work for Floyd too?
This was a letter to cyclingnews.com posted by someone else.
the issue is about due process and the justice system that has pretty much amounted to a withc hunt at times. floyd’s guilt/ innocence isn’t the issue here- the issue is there wasn’t a fair process with checks and balances on both sides.
OJ did it, AND the cops planted the glove.
Lance didn’t come to mind, Mr. 10:09? If the validity of the process doesn’t matter much to you, then his 98 or 99 sample coming up positive under a later, improved test ought to do it.
“But Floyd doped. We know he did.”
Air-tight logic, 10:09.
Duh, is Tour de Parc happening? I can’t find it. I contacted the DOT and Queens Botanical Gardens, but they couldn’t help me.
I like the OJ analogy. Maybe the lab did screw up and he did it.
I forgot about Lance. He doped too. Those 7 or 8 old samples that leaked to the press. EPO.
All those people I mentioned doped. They either tested positive or self-admitted. Hard to imagine Floyd didn’t dope when pretty much every other great cyclist you can think of has. Lemond and Big Mig doped too . . . people who were close to them will tell you. But I don’t think they were ever caught.
You fellas want to believe in Floyd for some reason I’ve never fully understood, but you’re just being blindly naive. Pro bike racers dope. That’s what they do. Not all of them all of the time. But nearly all of them at some point in the season. So you can cry about technicalities, but the dude is guilty. I personally hate criminal defense lawyers who get thugs off on technicalities. Floyd and his lawyers are not any different. They are ruining the sport that you want to believe is clean. Funny that Floyd’s lawyer is representing Vino now. Can’t wait to hear their defense. They’ll have to one-up Tyler’s Chimera defense. Should be a good one.
Reed Albergotti took the 3/4 in a field sprint. Scot Willingham tried off the front a few times, once with Shaw and two others, but nothing stuck.
Sids goes 1-2 in the Masters 35+. Lattanzi and ?? (Sorry bro didn’t get your name) worked over a Somerset rider to go 1-2 from a three man break. Left before the 123, but I’m guessing Jared.
Couldn’t see the winner of the 45+ as the three leaders lapped and reintegrated with the pack on the last lap. Think Doug O’Neal from Deno’s WW took it, but very unsure.
Wilson. There was a surprisingly good turnout too.
and Stephen Jamison was the Sid’s 35+ winner.
marion jones admitted doping. she never returned a positive test. she was tested a lot too. they basically all doped at one point, whether it was just trying it or constant. otherwise they would have been out of the sport.
The Floyd deniers remind me of the ditto head sycophants who still claim there were WMD.

Brief race report: With lots of primes on the line, the action started early. Martin Lechowitz (GS Mengoni) won a $50 prime just 4 laps into the race which led to a counter-attack by Rite Aid Pro Bill Elliston. Elliston was away for about 8 laps until he was joined by Gavi Epstein (CRCA/Sakonnet). The two worked smoothly together but with no Mengoni or Team United riders in the break the move was caught a few laps later. With about 12 laps to go four riders w e nt off the front – Sal Scotto (Sommerville Sports), Robert Mcconville (Capri Foundation), Rafael Urzedowski (Northeastern Hardware) and the 16 old junior rider Lewis Almonte who was making his racing debut for GS Mengoni. The four qucikly opened a 20 second lead and it looked like this could be the winning move. Despite having a rider in the break, GS Mengoni led the chase to set up thier ace sprinter Wilson Vasquez and with 3 laps to go the break was caught. The field stayed together and in the final sprint it was Wilson Vasquez (GS Mengoni) edging out Bill Elliston (Rite Aid Pro Cycling Team) with Horrace Burrowes (Team United) rounding out the podium

from cyclingnews.com:
“Angelo Martorell… struck a volunteer track marshall who was replacing a sponge in the sprint lane during the qualifying attempt.
Martorell’s shoulder hit the volunteer’s head as he was rounding the final turn of the final lap”
So uglietta starts the marshal countdown and then leaves everyone hanging. Oct 14. Race or no race?
This once again begs the question, “Why no mass email to members?”
So, did you volunteer, and thats why you are so impatiently in need of an answer? Doubtful…
CRCA race is canceled. Season is over other than the turkey race.
How can a race that wasn’t scheduled be cancelled?
check the website, then come back and tell us
http://begthequestion.info/
Was NY Velocity behind the cancellation of the race, so they wouldn’t lose the B Cup to Setanta? I’m not saying there was a conspiracy, but it does bring up some questions …
shouldn’t we get refunds from our crca membership because we didn’t get a full season?
I hope you’re not serious.
Meet me at 145th and Broadway at 2am tommorow morning.
Thanks!
Why in God’s name do you need 8 days advance notice as to whether an unscheduled race in mid-October will happen? Put the bike away for a few weeks and rediscover that there’s more to life than bitching about non-USCF bike races you’re going to lose.
