Hopeful Friday 10/16/2009

This cold, wet weekend finally marks the end of road races (so it seems).   I’m guessing most of you will make use of this by doing "normal" things like waking up at a decent hour, drinking beer, and playing rock band for about 6 hours…

Fore those of you who aren’t quite right in the head, Get ‘yer mud boots out.  You’re going to get dumped on.  It’s going to be nasty, wet and sloppy.  In other words, it’s going to be a Tara Reid sort of weekend.  And luck for you, there are some great races going on.  The New York State Cyclocross Championships are happening on Saturday in Prospect park… in Troy, NY.  Yeah, i know-  they also have a central park up there- did you know that?

There’s also a big Double header happening in the DE/PA area.   On Saturday we have the ever-so-epic Granogue Cross race in Delaware.  It’s held on the Dupont family’s private estate,  and I heard that in order to cope with the Impending nor’easter, they have completely coated the entire course in Teflon.

Round 2 of the Amish double header happens on Sunday at  Wissahickon CX in Ludwig’s Corner, PA.  I go just for the fantastic beer tent (Thanks, Victory Brewing).   I hear the course will once again have a circle of death and a sand trap,  so get ready to befuddle people who are confused by the concept of riding bicycles in goofy patterns on grass and jumping over wooden planks.

Jules Crank

I know what happened next. He whipped out a bag of blood, poured some into the tube, and that shit is so thick it seals the puncture and he rides in for sweet victory.

Is someone gonna ride up the run-ups at Granogue tomorrow with all the mud? How many times will CJ slide out? How many times will it get on camera? Any chance we see someone from NY on the podium?

Cat 2/3s likely a few top 20s but I doubt a podium.

35plus – Roger NJ will be top 3.

Cat4 – Look for new CX racer Cooper Ray.

Staten Theobvious

Can someone please take some photos of one of these cyclocross races so we know what they’re all about?

CXed

One of the best Elite racers (Lindine) is racing the NY State Champs and he would likely be top 5 at best.

Really no NYers to challenge for podiums at the top CX events this year.

Johnny Potsmoker

He got a hold of the Continuum Transfunctioner and his cult moved out of his parents’ barn. ZOLTAN!
