We are experiencing the type of weather that prompts the painfully obvious amongst us to query others about the quality and quantity of wetness that abounds by asking perchance, if it conditions were "wet enough" for us. And the proper answer today is (after a light slapping), "Yes, it is wet enough."
But enough about the weather, let’s see what happened at the local bike competitions.
At the CRCA Club Race on Saturday, Adam Alexander of Foundation won the A race. BrittLee Bowman of Stan’s NoTubes p/b enduranceWERX won the women’s race. Noah Gellner of Foundation won the B race. Erica Tricarico of NoTubes p/b enduranceWERX (and typing that a second time just broke my spell check) won the women’s cat 4 race.Alex Sanborn of the CRA won the cat 5 race. Results are here.
Up in Syracuse, the New York State championships were held as part of the Tour de Syracuse, and there were many new champs crowned. James Mahlmann of BH/Comedy Central is now men’s cat 3 state champion. Carl Reglar of Verge Sport is the master’s 45+ champion. Helen Hatch of BH/Comedy Central is the women’s cat 3 state champ. Lucia Deng of Rockstar Games/Signature Cycles is the cat 4 state champion. Sam Morkal Williams of CRCA development is junior boys 17-18 state champion. Road race results here.
Meanwhile at the Campagnolo Grand Fondo New York, thousands of people rode and some won. Stefano Nicoletti of Modena, Italy won the overall, with local Strava KOM hoarder and Fair Lawn, NJ resident Anthony Fatuzzo third overall and first in the mens 18-39 category. Camila Cortes Severino of Bogota, Colombia won the women’s overall. Thousands of results are here. Feel free to search on my name for mightiness evidence.
First, nipped ‘ya MQ!
Columbia is a University. Colombia is the Country where Bogota is located.
Vamos Daniel, no seas ignorante.
Dammit! I thought I got that!
Really looking forward to your stories from yesterday’s fondo
lots to tell, may need to serialize it
did you rock a mean cube o’ gouda?
Please don’t include the uncropped photo of Andy’s muddy legs.
Rode the gran fondo on sunday. I’m confused by the results. Only 2230 finishers, DNF/DQ list is just about 400 names. I kept reading/hearing “over 7000 starters.” They even said it again over the loud speaker as we were staging Sunday morning.
Did over 50% of the field really not even start?
Lots of fair weather cyclists in NYC
I am guessing a number either signed up for the shorter course or ended up doing the shorter course.
And lots of cyclists to whom $200+ is pocket change and can be wasted because of some rain.
FBF tomorrow. Tomorrow’s Regional Orthopedics Tuesday Series race at Floyd Bennett Field will start at 6:30PM for the Cat 3-4 and Cat 5 races and 7PM for the Cat 1-2-3 race. We will be using the same short course we used for last week’s race.

All racers at FBF and those working late or doing intervals in CP…
Tuesday night at FBF also means Specials at Veselka!
This week:
1. All you can eat Pirogi and any draught beer for $17.00.
2. Ukie Dog (smoked vealwurst on a bun topped with carrot salad and dill cabbage), served with a side of chopped salad. $5.95.
Come join the FGX racers there. If the weather is good(and I suspects tomorrow will be!), the restaurant will have the front section blocked off for cyclists!
Thanks!
Weather and climate is the major factor in cycling. I it is cloudy weather there will be moisture in the Beverly Diamonds Reviews atmosphere and it will be difficult to breath. I am excited to see the reports of Campagnolo Grand Fondo New York.
