Hangover August 13, 2012

racing, racing, racing…

There were winners and there were losers this weekend. There was also an anonymous marriage proposal ON THIS SITE (seriously, i am not kidding!). Despite everyones continued love for the Innervation girls, we have the important business of bragging to attend to, so let’s get to it…

Sat, Mengoni won Mengoni (Mengoni to Mengoni), with Cesar Marte taking the Pro/1/2/3 field. Andrew Estevez won the cat 3 field, Sam Torres won the cat 4 field and the Women’s Pro/1/2/3 field was won by Becca Schepps. Full results here. At the Tour de Millersburg, the 1/2/3 overall was won by Brett Kielick, the cat 3 was Vinny Depalma, the cat 4 was Mark Austin and the pro 1/2/3 women was won by Kathleen Giles. Full results here. The Butternut Valley Time trial results are here, the NJBA TTT results i wasn’t able to find yet and the Lake Nockamixon TT challenge was canceled.

On Sun, the Second Annual MangoSeed race in PP was canceled, The Tour de Fair Haven took place but the results haven’t been posted where i can find them. Same goes for the Silvermine TT (get it together NJ!) but my sources tell me that Mike Margarite took the 1/2/3 win, Phil Penman took 3rd in the 1/2/3, and Andy Shen took 5th in the 45+ (but would have TOTALLY beaten penman if he had his disc with him) and there were strong showing from Rob Rakowitz and someone with the last name of Stern, whom Rob neglected to send placings or full name for when he messaged me. At the CRCA Club Track championship, Josh Sakofsky (ladies, contain yourselves) took the A field win, Ariel Mendez-Penate took the B field win, Shane Ferro won the Women’s field and Greg Lee decisively took the Masters 50+ honors. Full results are here and photos are here (thanks to Keith Garrison of Pink Rhino racing for those).

And now, your second daily dose of silliness…

Full results are not posted but Augusto Sanchez of Mengoni won the Pro 1/2/3 and Ann Marie Miller of CRCA/Eumaeus Asset Management won the Women’s race.

Blue Velo

Some strong showings by local cat 3’s.
With Graham Macbeth from Satanta taking 5th in the TT and John Anthony from Scottos taking 4th in the RR and 4th on the GC.

Mathieu Drainhole

Inson Wood causing trouble again.

Although it’s hard to imagine him going over 30 mph these days.

15:43–some really stupid rec lane shenanigans by a few guys…for what, getting 10th place?

they barely averted a disaster.

total idots.

Kyllian Bushing

Was that the club president blatantly violating the rec lane ban or just one of his team mates?

Matthieu Torque

how hard is it to post an official in the rec lane 200m from the finish? every other race these days features rec-lane sprinters and you never see anyone DQ’d for it.

Quentin Kevlar

the rec lane hustle began at 15:40. foundation rider goes to the left around a slow guy at edge of rec lane, foundation guy goes in rec lane, then hauls butt up to the front of group for sprint.
you can tell the guy in blue jersey contemplated doing the same, but did the right thing and got a lesser placing because of it.

way to stay classy, foundation.

gotta love video.

CAT 3 Hobbyist

I’ve watched it a few times now. 3 – 4 guys cross into the rec lane. Foundation guy is the least offensive. One guy goes clear to the curb. Planet Bicycle guy in blue goes into the lane twice. They should all be DQ’ed, but what’s will singling out Foundation? Get over yourselves. Foundation already represents 1/4 of the CRCA board. Why don’t you step up and volunteer for the marshal director job.

Or you could simply volunteer to be a human traffic cone at the next race.

Kyllian Bushing

Yeah. Um, the guy in blue barely crosses the line & doesn’t advance position as a result of crossing. Not ok, but hardly an unabashed violation. He thought about it a couple of times as he watched his chance at a good result stolen by a couple of cheaters, but ultimately made the right choice.

One other rider in some kind of white kit swerves AROUND someone on a hybrid in the rec lane. Probably the nastiest violation, but it’s impossible to discern what team he is on from the video.

The only kit I can recognize however, and the rider who seems to have benefited the most from breaking the rules is (once again) a Foundation rider. I’m thankful that some people from Foundation have stepped up and compose so much of the CRCA board. That doesn’t make me incapable of seeing which jerseys cross into the rec lane on a regular basis. One would think that a result of the Foundation team’s close relationship with the CRCA board, might be that they were more aware of the rules.

Dorian Bearing

foundation getting singled out because they got the ugliest f’ing kits in the crca and are easy to spot. good job, foundation!

Downtube

Forget about it! The most annoying fucker is #618. He swerves for no reason, gets off the handlebars to gesticulate needlessly, constantly looks back and around even he is not doing shit in the race, and is just a dammed pain in the ass. Holja line, bro…oh, wait…

lll

Same shit different day…bitching and moaning, why do you people even race? You don’t need to race for fitness and none of you will ever make a living at being a bicycle racer, so give it up.

Velo Bello

And some of our Olympic athletes have now gone to work for Home Depot. All that training and sacrifice just to end up at Home Depot.

Harvey Wallbanger

Part time at Home Depot probably pays better than a grunt life at most domestic pro teams. And you get employee discounts on plumbing supplies, which is always a plus.

Saddle Douche

So we have had the drugs olympics in 1996, actually those were called the Growth Hormone olympics.

Would these 2012 Opimpics be classified as the junk food Opimpics? How many McDonalds and Coke commercials were we exposed to, it was like a nuclear fall out?

These two multinational companies were really pimping their products, weren’t they?

Rayan Clamp

CMDR- What would you say now to current pros who are doping and haven’t been caught?

JS- As far as domestic pro’s doping (this hurts because some of you I really like and looked up to. The riders who raced Pro in Europe this does not apply to you because you know suffering and do not deserve disrespect) You are a very pathetic individual and most certainly have very limited athletic ability. You probably throw a baseball like a girl and would have no muscle tone at all if it weren’t for the drugs you are using. Plain and simple, you are not an athlete. Lance Armstrong is an athlete (just look at the guy).
To all the European Pro’s, my heart goes out to you because doping is a must for you. That is the truth. You can try to race competitively without doping and you may be sucsessful in one or two races, but to race that whole season with all those insanely fast races without doping and still have a contract after your current one expires…. GOOD LUCK!!!

Dx

I did an out of town race recently. The guy who won one of the fields is in his early 40s. He just started racing last year. He has no history of competitive athletics of any kind. His palmares is ridiculous. This last race was his 15th race ever. He has DNF’d once and has NEVER finished worse than 5th in all the other races, including 5 victories and 12 podiums in total (out of 15). The races are across all disciplines – crits, TTs and hilly RRs. The guys looks like a total freak – his face noticeably different from just a few months ago – almost doesn’t look like the same guy. Oh, and he’s coming off a knee fracture.

It’s just everywhere.

I race for fun, but its less fun when guys cheat and the face is so fast that the race blows apart completely because some juicer rips an inhuman pace.

shootthegap

This one time I went to sleep over band camp and this one camper was playing way better than me. Had to be late 40’s. I know he was on the sauce.

Ground Provision

Yams, Eddoes, Cassava and Plantains are a great performance enhancer and laden with natural T.

Food for the champions, ask Usain Bolt.
