It was a weekend of racing for those who still care about racing (and some, it seems really, really care about racing), so let us delve into the results that have been expectorated from the exhausting ticker tape machine that is known as the internet.
Firstly, there’s the CRCA Club race, Empire made it a one-two in the A race with Karl Rahn and Kevin Molloy taking first and second respectively; Kristen Lotito of Sanchez Houlihan’Lokey won the women’s race; Steve Magyera of Foundation won the B race; and Brian Case of CRCA won the C race. That is all – results are here.
After a lackadaisical look at the cross ticker tape scattered about my feet, I see no results forthcoming from the world of the thin and knobby, so if you won, please let us know.
Peppo got 3rd at Whirlybird (B’s), Sam Fiorino got 7th (B’s) Matt Howard won the Elite Masters, and CJ didn’t fall down (during the race).
i did fall down- as did half of the people racing whirlybird…
Well, you looked clean. Unlike some people…

Wow, I was off on the results. Sorry.
Nice job to everyone. Peppo and Sam are riding very strong in the Bs this season. October is here which means the real racing begins (Mud and rain).
Is Duncan riding tubeless tires? Curious how they ride compared to Tubulars…
anyone know?

2nd Milne (Team Type 1)
3rd Barrows (Empire)
i like how all racing that takes place outside of tuesday nights from may-august is considered to be the lunatic fringe in the hopeful/hangover write-ups.
Isn’t all racing on the lunatic fringe?
Duncan dnf’d because tubeless sucks.
in cx you want low pressure, tubuless don’t work well with low pressure.
kick ass year , good racing , breaks , sprints , no fights, i hope some more local teams consider the club. Mengonie, Kisanna, Toga, Summerville, and champion should join , it is a great way to get racing in early season and it would make the racing even better.
troll!
actually, the hope is that some crca sub teams consider leaving and being on their own. that would make better bike racing in the area, and maybe even force crca to open up more central park races.
Actually, the current challenge with tubeless tires is HIGH pressure for the road, since the bead will pop off. Mountain bikers have been running low psi tires for years (i.e. low 20s).
Still, flats can happen on any tire/rim combo. He might just need some more sealant.
My understanding is that Tubeless tend to “burp” when remounting and hitting the rough stuff. IF you start out at say 30psi and loose 10psi during the race you will maybe flat. Tubulars roll but dont burp so I guess both have trade offs. I will stick with Tufos or Challenge for now.
BTW – new white Challenge Grifos are the hotness for 2010.
Toga an Mengoni have been around for years, they will never be part of CRCA. And although not as old, Champion and Somereville will not be either.
This course had quite a bit of off-camber where the opportunity to seperate the tire from the bead was very high, if you’re running super low pressure.
Also Brittlee Bowman of Kissena came in 4th in the Cat 3/4 womens race.
so tubuless don’t work well in high or low pressure. that’s an endorsement.
CRCA promotes a bunch of open races. more than anyother club in the city. the club “only” races are kick ass. they are cheap and much longer than all the other city races.
they are also safe, tons of marshalls unlike the spring races that have just a few marshalls.
i think the club could open up a few club races to uscf riders just to see what happens to attendance. they would get 150 riders in each field cause 4 lap spring series races suck, and 35 bucks sucks too
You can burp some air, but that generally only happens when the pressure is already too low, or the bead is seated incorrectly. It usually happens with non-tubeless ghetto mounting, or when not enough sealant is used. For MTB, you shouldn’t burp at 30psi.
You CAN run tubeless without sealant (UST tires and rims), but a little bit is always a good idea.
Ethan Chamois, you seem to be missing something yourself. Kissena runs two seperate open race series in the city. That would seem to beat the 4 open races that CRCA promotes for the usage of the term “more than any other club in the city”.
you can’t run a race safely in central park with 150 riders in a field.
you can’t run a race safely in central park, especially in peak use months, without adequate marshals.
if people can race in central park all summer without joining crca, then crca will not have enough marshals to run races safely. then there will be accidents. then there will be no more racing in central park.
Unless it’s changed recently, Kissena doesn’t really run those races, Charlie I does. A few Kissena people volunteer for free entry but the majority of people who work those races seem like they’re Charlie’s people.
i think the system of the crca is better than paying 35 bucks for zero prize money,
Charlie I runs the races for Kissena. He is very much part of Kissena and one of its directors.

I want to shout out my baby mother you know who u are,we had a great weekend.
anyone doing it?
anyone doing it?
No.
Woo Hoo, Foundation won the B field Team Cup!
With incredible racing, amazing team tactics, and oh yeah, a good dose of ringers, Foundation takes the B Team Cup! Cue thunderous applause!!
A quick look back at the results shows that Eutimio (I haven’t been a cat 4 since I won bear in 2005) Quintero raced down to the B field and placed a number of times this season — nice work. Care to explain that Foundation?
And hey, while we are on the subject, what ever happened to that other Super Ringer, Kenardo Dunn, that Foundation brought in for a special one time knock out appearance back in May?
Dunn shows up for one race on May 30th, smokes the 4 field like nobodies business, adds a bunch of points to Foundation’s Team Cup standing, and then disappears – never to be heard from again.
Yes that Kenardo Dunn – The Jamaican National track champion who raced the Junior worlds back in 2004.
There is a spring in the step of all Foundation riders as they hold their collective heads up high knowing that they took on the mighty CRCA B field, and crushed them with cunning and creative tactics. You must be a proud bunch indeed.
It could have been worse, Inson could have ‘catted down to race the B’s with you. Then you’d be bitchin’ and moanin’ about all the random crashes.
We had arranged to bring ringers from Luxembourg and Belgium but they went to the wrong race(Escape New York)
There were more women there.
results from Green Mountain are here:

Roger Aspholm won both 35+ races and is the NECCS series lead.
I’m still tired 🙂
If anyone has any questions, just ask yourself; what would CJ do?
Alan
Dude that comment was stupid. What is your real name Caster Semenya? Stop writing stupid comments and train more.
Lindine had a nice race beating some top guys. Nice Job!
I would love to know if the guys who get hooked up with the Sach CX bike and IF CX bikes give them back or keep them after the season?
i had to race down a few years back cause my team was full in the A field. so what. the b field is a learning ground. it is not an end game. there should only be one objective to a B rider , and that is to up grade ASAP.
the B cup fucked up the CRCA . too many sand baggers and too easy. winning the b cup is like winning a cat 5 race you should be happy with the win but even more happy that you can now race with better riders
Hi tiuuuuu!?
“Sach CX bike and IF CX bikes give them back or keep them after the season?”
They keep them.
I had to race down when my prostate grew to the size of a grapefruit
