No word from the Blueberry Circuit race in Jersey.

And just out of curiosity, say I had this friend who rode for a team sponsored by a company that was just bought over the weekend, and this company may no longer exist. What would now happen with my friend’s team? I’m just asking because, you know, I ‘m curious and all.
Â
It’s the new bank of america team!
if I ride for you guys can I get ATM fees waived?
Your friend will likely suffer the indignity of racing in the CRCA “orphan” jersey. I’m sure he’ll still be recognizable — there’s no hiding that sprint.
2 laps into the 123 race, a flat was the last thing expected. After waking at 2:30am to make the start, dismay ensued when told there are no free-laps.
Thanks to the guy who gave me a wheel. (hey, I awoke at 2:30am, remember?) Tell Charlie Issendorf that Hartford, CT loves NYC.
don’t ask for the free lap next time, just take one. about 20 other guys did it, why ask for permission?
At least your friend was not riding for Lehman Brothers.
I got a flat on the 5th lap at the top part of the course… I walked back to my car through the park. Surprisingly everyone I saw was really friendly. That debunks the myth of New Yorkers being rude. If I had flatted near the start finish line and if I had a spare wheel then I would have jumped back in the race. I would have finished but I would not have tried to place. I paid $25, got up at 4am and wanted at least something out of it by continuing to ride… c’est la vie.. better luck next time. The irony is that I was actually feeling pretty good and at 44 years old in the P123 field felt like I might actually place and make a few bucks. Now I get to wait for next year, Central park, first weekend in March, I hope it’s above 30 degrees.
where are you from, amish country?
‘….felt like I might actually place and make a few bucks.’
I did jump back in but did not contest the finish. Us Amish people are honest.
Bubblelicious
Is the Merrill Lynch team going to be around next year? Will their riders look at offers from other teams?
Indeed, that is the TRUE FALLOUT of the Wall Street crisis — the impact on ML bike racing. Wait until the Fed looks at that wind tunnel line item. I predict congressional hearings, with Schmalz and Andy testifying and Marco taking photos, naturally.
The CRCA should step in and buy the ML team new kit for next year.
What do you mean offers from other teams? Isn’t it more like “won’t you come ride for us next season?”
what do YOU mean? “won’t you come ride for us next season?” is an offer to join a team, is it not?
check out the Capital Criterium in DC next week! $50,000 Pro race, plus a masters, and 1,2,3…
🙂
It should be a really fun time. VDV is slated to ride in the pro race. They are supposed to have some great pro team commitments. Not to mention, the chance to race on Pennsylvania Ave in the shadow of the Capitol will be pretty cool. Last road race of the season, such sweet sorrow.
Scnaltz – you can always come ride for my team. Benefits include paying for all your own gear and riding in support of me. Send resume with cover letter stating interest in this proposal.
Don’t forget about the Jamestown Classic, Oct. 13. Much closer than DC.
Just race CX and extend your season by 3 months. MAC series starts next Saturday in PA.
Jamestown is a great race on a beautiful course really unique to anything we are used to. Real super technical sprint to the finish as well (not unsafe). Just get your a$$ in your car as soon as it is over so you are not fighting Columbus Day weekend traffic on 95 on the way home.
50+ year olds take 2nd in the mens’s and 1st in the womans’s
Dude I am not from Amish country but from Jersey and you are douche bag, say that with a Nutley accent.. stay in NY and race…I guess my walk through the park debunks the myth about people from NYC but maybe for a jerk like you then you should stay racing in the Cat 4 race.
this is hilarious
Did anyone happen to pick up my helmet (blue and white) after the Bear Mountain awards ceremony/ picnic? by accident I left it on one of the picnic tables….. thanks. velogrrrl “at” aol.
……also have recovered from broken necks.

David Carr, Setanta.
is there going to be a make up date for the cancelled 9/13 crca race?
Good question. I was really looking forward to the Westside finish.
the pavement is all torn up near the 72nd street transverse on the east side. just how i like my bunch sprint run-ins. does anybody know when that is supposed to be finished?
They are supposed to pave it tonight (not leave it as pav-e).
When is the Central Park Roubaix?
Yeah, I’ve seen it advertised for at least a year and nothing else. Will it ever happen?
Sorry to disappoint, but delighted to enlighten. It’s not a race, it’s a cycling video game inspired by and modeled on “Football Manager” – and a very cool one at that. Man, did it take a lot of time to design. The idea was to create teams from local riders’ power profiles – complete with local team jerseys, and certain idiosyncrasies for each rider (e.g. depending on character: no socks, no helmet, yells “holja line!,” or does a muscle-flex victory salute, etc.) – and the player acts as the DS throughout a whole virtual cycling season. Messrs. Shen, Ostroy, and Schmalz spent a whole season downloading PowerTap/SRM data from CRCA riders to create it. Word is that they’re coming out with a multi-player online version next March/April.
One of its coolest features (as I remember one avid fan wrote in an impromptu review at the time of its release – but I can no longer find the link … ahem, ahem) is that during the C race, Cat 5 racers will ride off-course at random. This provides not only excitement, but a degree of realism not found in other cycling video games.
Trivia for you history buffs amongst the hard-core NYVeloCitizens:
What rider(s) or incidents inspired that particular feature of the game?
can we get brother historicus his own column?
Ahhhhhhhhhh……….. Who is Greg Olsen? Sorry Greg but that series of pics was infamous. Do I win a free copy? Can I have it autographed?
nah!
it was KH and there are pics on this site to prove it!
where are these pictures? can somebody make a youtube video out of them like the ugli dance?
Mr Shen, send that man an autographed box of Rice-A-Roni (the San Francisco treat) as a parting gift and a version of Central Park-Roubaix the home game. And what the hell – throw in a sticker of a dog molesting a cat, while you’re at it.
