The weekend that was

The Prospect Park Lucarelli & Castaldi Cup series ended this weekend. On Saturday, Ricky Lowe of CRCA/Die Hard-Think Racing won the Pro/1-2-3s, ahead of Adam Alexander of CRCA/Foundation and CRCA/Adler’s Scott Savory. In the 4s, Andrew Clerico of CRCA/NYVelocity won decisively, followed by Christian Forsyth of CRCA/Setanta and Wei Chen of the CRCA Junior Development squad. Edward Liborious of Innovation Bike Shop won the 5s, ahead of team-mate Andrew Estevez and Erick Fernandez of Chelsea Bicycles.

The next day in the Pro/1-2-3s, Adam Alexander of CRCA/Foundation avenged his Saturday’s second place, beating Ricky Lowe of CRCA/Die Hard-Think Racing and Amaury Perez of GS Mengoni. In the 4s, Andrew Clerico was first again, with Leonard Galati of CRCA/NYVelocity and Darius Shekari of CRCA/Teany. Andrew Estevez of Innovation Bike Shop won the 5s, followed by Aidion Ollivierre and Richard Henning of Kissena. Ricky Lowe achieved decisive victory in the Pro/1-2-3 overall standings, followed by Amaury Perez and Adam Alexander. Jermaine Burrowes of WS United won the KOM. The green jersey went to Wilson Vasquez of GS Mengoni. Cat 4 overall victor was Christopher Barbaria, with Pedro Sanchez taking the KOM jersey and Chris Yack of Kissena the green. At the Long Meadow TT on Saturday, Kenneth Lundgren of Northeastern Hardware was overall winner, ahead of Bryan Dobes of Westwood Velo/Trade Manage Racing and Mark Pohndorf of Colavita Racing. Local faces in the GC included Michael Beckerman of CRCA/FGX Racing (sixth place and first in the CRCA Men’s A category) and Christoffel Prinsloo of CRCA BH/Garneau in eighth place (second in the CRCA Mean’s A). Other highlights: Phil Penman of CRCA/Teany won the CRCA Men’s B; Joaquin C. de Baca of Kissena won the Eddy Men’s completion. CRCA/Blue Ribbon translations.com triumphed in the Team TT. Meghan Newcomer won the CRCA Women’s; Jill Waggett of Guy’s Racing won the Senior Women’s; Lynn Frampton won the Cat 4 Women’s. Full Long Meadow results are here.

Yes on Saturday. 6 off the front. Clerico dropped them and soloed to the win. Rest of the break stayed away.

Yes, there was a breakaway. They were working together very well from the look of it, building up their lead every lap. I didn’t see the end of the race, but the last time they passed me, they had over a minute and rolled smoothly thru the last KOM in single file, no one playing any games, all business. I noticed Chris Forsythe and Wei Chen in the move; Jaime Garcia was up there too, tires perfectly matched to his frame, style AND substance.
