Hangover 8/24/2009

Central Park World’s

The weekend kicked off with a wet and nasty Mengoni, won by Amary Perez (GS Mengoni), with teammate Neil Bezdek 2nd and Ricky Lowe 3rd. Camie Kornely (Innovation Bike) won the women’s race over Kacey Manderfield and Ann Marie Miller. Jeff Cline (EECT) took the 3’s solo, followed in by Frank Arroyo and Kevin Yarde. Eli Mernit (GS Gotham/Toga) won the juniors over Derek Wojtkun and Kainoa Perez.

Sunday brought much nicer weather for the Maltese, won by Foundation over Mengoni and Champion System. Heidi Reijm (Kissena) won the women’s race over Deb Killmon and Xieyue Fan. And in the shocker of the weekend, FGX goes 1-2 in the 4 races with Zak Abdullah and Christophe Jammet, with Steve Marmo 3rd.

Full results for both races are at the Velocityresults site.

Any help with Medford and Marlton-Evesham-Marlton results would be appreciated.

And here’s how New Yorkers did at Masters Track Nationals:

Dan Lim, Die Hard – 5th Sprints, 6th Points Race
Alex Farioletti, Affinity Cycles – Silver, Sprints, 3rd Team Sprints
Christine D’Ercole, Affinity Cycles – Gold, Sprints
Christopher Barbaria, Affinity Cycles – Bronze, Team Sprints

Is that CJ on the left in the hangover picture? It’s obviosly not a non-cat 4 because this site is not for them.

triple negative guy is back!!!!

or should i say, it’s not true that triple negative guy is not here.

Francesco Seatpost

I would have a deep non-understanding of how the non-appearance of the triple negative guy goes for so long, if he had not then re-appeared to not write “It’s obviosly not a non-cat 4 because this site is not for them.”

there were 29 women on the mengoni pre-reg list. some didn’t show, some dropped or had mechanicals, and a bunch went down in the crash before the sprint. this year we missed some of the big guns who have come in the past (laura van guilder), maybe because it was not the same weekend as thater, which drew some elite riders in the past. and the weather probably kept some away.
the last lap few miles were very sketchy. there were some newer riders who may be very strong but who are definitely not so experienced at riding very close, at speed, in bad conditions. women’s fields tend to be smaller, so the female riders don’t have as many opportunities to work on this.

Here it goes.

Raining
Slow in corners
Fast on flats
Eyes filled with crap
Tires popping
Completely soaked and dirty as crap
Mentally draining and fast enough to wear you down
Guys dropping out
50 guys couldn’t hack it or had no air
Couple of late fliers
Crash at the left the S turn into the finish – took out a bunch of guys, slowed a bunch more
